Devices On Same Wifi Network Are Not Communicating With Each Other
Jan 1, 2013
I've got several devices (two laptops, Xbox, WiiU, Apple TV, 2 ipads, and an iphone) that can connect to my home wifi network just fine. However, when connected it seems these devices cannot communicate with one another.
Homesharing between my iphone/laptop and Apple TV is no longer functioning. Also, I can not sync my windows media player with my Xbox, and I can not connect my iphone to the Xbox using AirMusic.
Here's my hardware: Motorola SB5101U SURFboard modem, Netgear Wireless N WNR2000 router.

The WDTV can act as a media player for both the Windows 7 PC and Samsung Galaxy S3.The TV can act as a media player for the Windows 8 PC.If I connect the Windows 7 PC via Ethernet, then the TV sees it and can act as a media player for it and the WDTV no longer can.The TV can't act as a media player for the Samsung Galaxy S3 nor can they see each other to use the Galaxy S3 as a wireless remote (Viera remote android app) .Why can my wireless devices talk to each other and my wired devices talk to each other, but the wireless devices can't talk to the wired devices?
We have a new site-to-site configuration comprised of two ASAs (a 5505 at the remote site and a 5510 locally). The site-to-site tunnel is up and appears to be working fine, with the exception of one thing; two identified IP addresses on the remote end cannot seem to communicate across the tunnel.
For example: address 192.168.3.81 is able to see resources at our facility, but 192.168.3.82 (an HP Laser jet P2055dn) cannot. However, 192.168.3.82 is ping able from the inside interface of the remote ASA and doesn't appear to be having any other connectivity issues. Also, the default gateway of this device appears to be set properly. When checking the real-time log viewer, I'm not seeing any error messages, it just appears as if the .82 device is not routing to the remote ASA, but strangely enough the local ASA's logs do seem to show communication with .82. (See the below logs.)
When we attempt to ping the 192.168.3.82 address from a local PC (10.10.10.10) that participates in the VPN tunnel, we see the following:
Local ASA 6|Jan 31 2012|16:03:53|302021|192.168.3.82|0|10.10.10.10|512|Teardown ICMP connection for faddr 192.168.3.82/0 gaddr 10.10.10.10/512 laddr 10.10.10.10/512 [ code]....
Remote ASA 6|Jan 31 2012|16:03:53|302021|10.10.10.10|512|192.168.3.82|0|Tear down ICMP connection for faddr 10.10.10.10/512 gaddr 192.168.3.82/0 laddr 192.168.3.82/0 [ code].....
We can successfully ping 192.168.3.81 from the same local workstation we see the following on the remote ASA :
6|Jan 31 2012|16:03:38|302021|10.10.10.10|512|192.168.3.81|0|Tear down ICMP connection for faddr 10.10.10.10/512 gaddr 192.168.3.81/0 laddr 192.168.3.81/0 [Code]....
We have no IP address overlapping and neither ASA's logs show any errors. Unfortunately, we don't have access to the remote site's router configurations, but we've been assured that the issue is not on their end.
I have an exisitng ASA5520 which is already working with remote clients using Cisco vpn client configured using ipsec over tcp, I am now trying to get vpn access for Iphones working and having a problem where once connected the Iphone cannot ping any internal device. The configuration on the Iphone does not allow for Ipsec over tcp and therefore uses udp 500 by default, if i create a new profile from a pc and do not use ipsec over tcp it has the same issue where it establishes a vpn tunnel but cannot ping any internal device as soon as I change the profile to ipsec over tcp it works fine.
have the following set up: cable modem>wifirouter>gigabit ethernet switch>to 16 ports throughout house. When I connect a second wifi router to any port around the house, the internet does not work when connecting to that specific router, however, if I use a lan cable and connect direct with my mac or cpu, internet works fine. wifi routers are not communicating with LAN ports
I have an ADSL connection through Canal Digitaal, which I believe uses the KPN network. My Zyxel 2601 modem/router is usually accessed at 192.168.1.254. The following devices are connected to it: two iphones, a Macbook Air, an Apple TV 3 and a Mac Pro.all devices except the Mac Pro. Looking closer I found in their respective settings that they connect to 192.168. 2.254. All have somehow been assigned IP addresses on the 192.168.2.xxx network. The Mac Pro remains on the 192.168.1.xxx network.Going to 192.168.2.254 launches a login page for a KPN router called Arcadyan ARV7519 which is on ANOTHER SSID than my wifi network. Nevertheless, all my devices say they are connected to my network SSID but with IP addresses in the 192.168.2.xxx range.Does it have to to with the channels used by the respective routers or is there some phishing or such going on? What can I do to ensure that my devices stay on my Zyxel network?Weirdly, the SSID of the Arcadyan router doesn't normally show up in my list of nearby networks. It only shows sometimes. Also - in case it is relevant - when I try to access 192.168.1.254 from my Mac Pro I am able to log in, meaning I reach the welcome page of my Zyxel router though it takes a very long time for it to load.
we currently have one desktop PC, two laptops, two HDTVs, and three cell phones. All of them are Wi-Fi compatible. Currently, I have a NetGear WGR614 v8 router courtesy of Comcast.it is possible that I can have all devices sharing the same Wi-Fi network? The desktop PC is connected to the router with CAT-5. The TV in the living room can be connected to the router as well with CAT-5 as the router is less than a foot from the network jack on the back of the TV.The TV in the bedroom has a Wi-Fi ready via USB.My daughter who is off to college owns one of the cell phones a laptop and an XBOX360 which I am not concerned about connecting until she returns home around Christmas.
My nexus 7 and my friends nexus phone are both running jellybean 4.1.1 and are unable to connect to our workplace's belkin wireless router. My nexus 7 says "authenticating" then says "network saved" then switches back to "authenticating". My friend's phone just gets stuck on "network saved". My iPhone and most other devices, including a different android phone, are in fact able to connect with no problems. I have tried resetting the router, but I am afraid that is all I will be able to do with regards to the router.
I have a dell optiplex gx270 desktop that can't detect netgear router. I am connected through a wire cable and have the driver for intel pro/1000mt network adaptor. It shows on the right bottom corner that I have the internet connection but I don't have IP address. I tried restarting computer and router to no avail. I have other computers at home to download drivers. So I visited dell and intel to diagnose and dowload driver for the Intel Ethernet adapter but still can't get no internet connection.
My laptop won't connect to my wifi. No idea why. I've restarted it, the router and the modem but it didnt work. Thing is it says that it can pick up signal on my wifi but it won't connect. The desktop computer works fine and mom's Nook connects to wifi and works fine, it's just my laptop not working. I've also tried connecting it directly to the modem and it still won't connect.
In University, the Wifi on my iPod is exceptionally fast. At home, I can't even load a Youtube video (music, no video) without having to give it about 20 minutes to let it buffer half way through, and the same thing on my Android phone. My Laptop is also on the network, but it is no where near as slow. I noticed the internet isn't as slow as Youtube is, so I guess it is just mainly streaming media that is slow. I have the D-Link DIR-185. I don't want to reset it, as it took me ages to get my printer set up on the network but if there are no solutions I might have to. As I am typing, the video has buffered 1/2 of the way there. I type 110WPM, so give it two minutes.
All other devices can connect to wifi, but windows xp can'tI have tried resetting the router, as well as the wifi connection on the xp, but nothing works.
What's happened is that after transferring my old PC's data onto my new one, and putting that one in place of my old one, therefore hooking up my modem to it, my wireless devices have been having trouble connecting to the router. Everything's hooked up fine, and it was working perfectly before, but now my devices such as my laptop and Droid Pro can SEE the router (As in connect to it and say that they are getting excellent signal strength), but when I try to open my browser, it asks as if I'm not connected to anything at all. The PC that's wired to the modem through the router works fine, however.
can i get such settings with which i can connect my dongle with wifi router so that i can connect my tablets and mobile to use the internet of mobile...or is there ny cable available in market which connects the dongle directly to my mobile for using internet>?
I am supposed to be working remotely. My Asus laptop has worked w/out issues at home, work, airport, etc, but it won't work in this house. The Nook connects to the wifi here w/out any problems.
The network box shows four bars and says I'm connected when I pull up the list of possible connections, but then when I troubleshoot it says, "no Internet acces".I have Windows 7 currently.
my laptop (asus) has been having issues with my WiFi. On startup, the laptop will (usually) connect to the internet fine, but after a few minutes, usually without any specific cause, it will disconnect from the internet, and the toolbar indicator will go from full signal (full bars) to no bars and a yellow triangle, saying limited access. When I try to reconnect, it will say "connecting" for a few seconds and then will say "cannot connect". I have to leave it for a few minutes every time before it will randomly reconnect until the next incident... My other two pc's (one Windows 7 and one Windows xp) do not have this issue, but sometimes other wireless devices in the house (iphone, ipad) will have a problem where the WiFi indicator will show full bars but I will not have internet access. I have to disconnect and reconnect in order for it to work. Again, it happens sporadically with no obvious cause...

i've just a D-Link DIR-600 router last month and i successfully installed it and its working great. Until 2 to days ago, my brother told me that he can't conlnect to the wi-fi. I said that its working just fine and told him to just reset his phone. And then, my sister also told me that she can't connect too. I checked their devices like iPhone 4S and iTouch and it says "Unable to join the network....... Also phones of my friends can't connect also. It was just working fine. I haven't changed anything on the router's configuration. I already reset the router, unplug then plug it and its still not working. The router is connected to my laptop and I can still browse the internet. Its the wireless connection that is not.
My wifi router is linksys WRT300N v1.1 At first my wifi works great with this devices . iphone 4s , ipod touch 4 , hp pavilion dv6 , dell inspirion 1545 . But it don't works with android devices I had a bunch of them samsung galaxy s3 , galaxy nexus , amazon kindle and more ...The android devices connect to wifi but wifi doesn't work for them in browsers I can't open pages there's appears <webpage not available> , but I can use skype on android devices.
I cannot connect to the WiFi router, an all-in-one modem+router provided by my ISP. Now, I run an Ethernet cord from the router to my computer: the computer works just fine. As of a day ago, though, none of the home's Apple devices will connect to the network, despite reboots, password retypes, and shouting at them. Each device (two phones and an ipad) can identify my network, but they cannot join. Additionally, there is an old laptop that cannot connect anymore.
The original network had a Zylex router, Netgear Switch. There was 2 pc's, one XP and Win 7. There is also 3 tills connected too. There is VPN network connected too. This emits a wireless signal to connect to a scanning gun and is also used to administrate the entire network. I was told by the Administrator of that network that it shouldn't interfere with the wifi network.
The job I was requested to do was to install 3 new wall plates as the Win 7 pc was using a Belkin wireless adapter. There was 2 put inside the office where the XP and Win7 pc's are located. The 3rd was just outside the office.
Now all the ethernet connections work 100%. The wifi is another story though. It will show up in the connect too, when you try connect it will disappear/no response from AP/connect then disappear, these are random too. No order to when each is error is displayed. Even when I put in another router the exact same issues happen.
I have tried to connect to both routers wifi when it wasn't plugged into the switch. Just the router's turned on with no cables plugged in separately of course, no joy same issue with both.
Dlink Dir-657 keeps losing internet connection on wifi devices only . the connection remains to the router but no internet .if I disconnect the connection i am unable to reconnect to the router until i reboot it. My internet remains on my network cabled devices .I am running on an empty channel 3 , usually happens 20 to 60 minutes after the router is up . Dlink sent me a replacement refurbished one and this one is doing the same thing . I owned the original one for about 5 months with no problems at all ,no new electronics in the house and have not changed the placement of the router .
The laptops and the desktop in my home connect perfectly fine to our wifi, but all other devices like our iPhones, iPads, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, and a 2006 hp laptop will either show a connection, but the connection doesn't actually work, or there will be a broken connection shown to our wifi. All these devices (except the Nintendo devices[only because we haven't tried it out]) will connect and perform on wifi elsewhere. We have a d-link router?
I was using the Internet fine lastnight switched on my acer laptop this morning and wasnt connected to the router. I tried connecting but it just fails. I'm still able to connect with my iPad and iPod. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the network adapter however this fails to successfully install. I've searched for hours but can't find a solution. I'm also unable to reset the router etc because I live in china and the router is in a roommates room whose door is locked.
I'm having issue with wireless connection on Belkin router F5D7633-4.Every 1-2 days my router disconnect and reconnect for no apparent reasons. When this happens, it affects it's wifi. All the devices in my house couldn't connect via wireless to this router. The only way to get these devices connected is to manually reboot the router.Do you know how to allow the router to allow many devices connected at same time?
I've done a firmware upgrade to latest version v4.21.5 yet my Wifi still isn't broadcasting for my devices to find and connect as of last night (Aug 5, 2012). This hasn't happened before, so I was hoping it would return but still hasn't started working yet.My iphone just says "unable to connect."
To preface this message I need to state that I am functionally illiterate when it comes to any kind of networking. I just replaced an old Linksys wireless-G router with a new Linksys EA6500 router. My needs are as follows: I am connecting 4 desktop computers (two personal and two business) via Ethernet cables. In addition there will be three smart phones, two DVD players and one game console connected wirelessly. In the future I will add a printer, hard drive and more wireless devices. After installing the hardware and running the setup disk all four computers wired with Ethernet cables worked fine (although they are not set up to communicate or share files with one another - they only need to access the internet. My problem is with the wireless connectivity. I cannot get any one of the wireless devices to work.
I just purchased a Linksys EA4500 (firmware is up to date). However while it set itself up wonderfully. I cannot get my wireless devices (specifically my apple tv) to see my NAS or my itunes PC, My ipads can access the NAS if i put in the correct address but not automatically.
Everything is connected to my cisco switch that is hardwired (2 xboxes, 2 ps3, 3 tv's, Wii, network audio receiver, 2 NAS, printer, 2 computers, etc). I disabled the Wi-Fi on the bell router. On the wifi are a few ipads, 3 blackberries, 1 iphone, 2 laptops).I am fully aware that the reason the wireless devices cannot see the hardwired equipment is because it is on a different subnet.
However when i try and change the IP address of the router to 192.168.2.2 (putting it on the same subnet) the router must detect a conflict then changes itself to a class A address (10.x.x.x) OR i get an INVALID IP address. As well i have noticed an overall degradation in the speed of my network (all gigabit hardware with cat 6 cabling)
I have my pc connected to the router with a cable. As soon as I switch it on I can't connect with any of my wireless devices like my laptop, tablet, mobile phone. As soon as I switch off the computer it works fine with all devices.
Is this a setting where the cable connected pc gets preference that I could switch off?
Writing my first router config from scratch for an 1801. I have wireless devices able to connect & authenticate with WPA. Wired devices can talk with wireless devices & on both interfaces devices obtain a DHCP lease. I can ping web based resources from the FA0 interface; the problem is, LAN devices can't ping has FA0. I'm pretty sure (well a hunch) that this is going to be down to NAT

I just installed an older router (WRT120N). Purchased an adapter for desktop and wireless connection for destktop works. Cannot get other devices to use the wifi (iphone, ipod, android phone...). I am at a loss. Saw some suggestions about disabling a Upn or something under the router's LAN properties
