have the following set up: cable modem>wifirouter>gigabit ethernet switch>to 16 ports throughout house. When I connect a second wifi router to any port around the house, the internet does not work when connecting to that specific router, however, if I use a lan cable and connect direct with my mac or cpu, internet works fine. wifi routers are not communicating with LAN ports
View 9 RepliesI've got several devices (two laptops, Xbox, WiiU, Apple TV, 2 ipads, and an iphone) that can connect to my home wifi network just fine. However, when connected it seems these devices cannot communicate with one another.
Homesharing between my iphone/laptop and Apple TV is no longer functioning. Also, I can not sync my windows media player with my Xbox, and I can not connect my iphone to the Xbox using AirMusic.

Router 1 is main modem router, which is connected to 2 pcs and 2 wif routers (wired separately), both of these wifi routers have there own ip address and dchp turned off, so they work fine and broadcast wifi nicely. now what i want to do is connect another wifi router to one of these routers (not the main one) but what setting do i need? i tried to connect the 3rd wifi router with the same setting as per the other two ie diff ip and dchp off, but when i plugged it into the port of the second router it would not show as connected or get an internet connection. Its probably quite simple to sort out, but with me being a dimwit i am tering my air out. If i could not use a wifi router for this 3rd connection, is there any other way of putting an extra 4 ports on to my second stage router.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe ran a D-Link DIR-655 for about 5 years on our home network of 7 desktop computers (LAN) and two laptops (wireless) with essentially no problems. However following a power outage last week the router stopped communicating with the cable modem (WAN port failure?). From the web site we determined that the DIR-825 is a fancier version of the DIR-655 (extra 5 GHz transmitter) so we upgraded to a new 825 three days ago. I did not use the wizard on the CD to set up the new router -- rather did it manually because I thought I'd configure the new router exactly the same as the old one -- this was probably not a good idea in retrospect. (FYI our new DIR-825 is a ver. B1 unit with ver. 2.02NA firmware.
After setting the router up -- it lit up like a Christmas tree and I could see all 7 desk top computers (3 are WIN7 & 4 are WINXP) in the LAN and all would go on-line with no issues. (FYI 3 desk tops are directly attached to the DIR-825 and four attached via a switch). However, when I tried to map the network I find that only 5 of the desk tops we assigned to our named home network -- 2 or them could not be mapped as they were assigned to a "public" network. So while they all still communicate with each other two are no longer in our home network. I do not think this was anything that I did -- knowingly at least.
I logged back on the the router home page but I see nothing that clues me in as to what I did wrong.So I'm wondering how the DIR-825 made these "assignments" and what I can do to redirect the router to bring the other two computers into our home network. (BTW one of the two "miss-assigned" computers is WIN7 and one is WINXP so its not a window version issue).
What's happened is that after transferring my old PC's data onto my new one, and putting that one in place of my old one, therefore hooking up my modem to it, my wireless devices have been having trouble connecting to the router. Everything's hooked up fine, and it was working perfectly before, but now my devices such as my laptop and Droid Pro can SEE the router (As in connect to it and say that they are getting excellent signal strength), but when I try to open my browser, it asks as if I'm not connected to anything at all. The PC that's wired to the modem through the router works fine, however.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco network on a ship where I work, I have an Ericsson GSM Access point which picks up local GSM 3G signal and broadcasts it onboard. I have two of these units and they are connected to a D-Link Load balancing router which is in turn connected to a Cisco 3560 Series 8 poe switch. Each unit is on a different subnet. The Cisco is on the DHCP server from my AD server (Windows 2003 Server) The Load balancing router has no DHCP and the Ericsson units have their own DHCP servers.On the Cisco switch if I plug in with a laptop I get an IP address for the DHCP on my server. I cannot ping the load balancing router from it. If I connect to the Load balancing router and set a static address for that subnet I can access the internet via the Ericsson units. And if I connect to the Ericsson I can access the Internet.

From the routers point of view it still has a good solid internet connection. Passes traceroute, but wont allow any wired or wireless connections on the internet. I'm trying to get a Linksys WRE54G v1 to work with this so my parents can have internet once more. If i manualy remove the security to allow the one touch Auto configuration button to work i loose my ability to surf until i run the Cisco Connection software to turn back on the passwords.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy internet connection setup is: PC -> Trendnet 632 BRP wi-fi router (via Ethernet cable) - > D-Link DSL-2520U modem (via Ethernet cable, PPPoE) -> Internet. I have other devices connected to my Trendnet router via Wi-Fi connection (Notebook, PS3, XBOX, iPhone).My ISP gave me two DNS servers wich I have entered in my Trendnet. But when I look at the DNS tab in my D-Link I see two different DNS servers witch is not the same I entered in Trendnet.hey was set automatically when I created new DSL connection. I've also tried to leave the DNS adress tab as it was by default (0.0.0.0) in Trendnet router and after that my network still works normal. And when I look at the WAN status tab in Trendnet settings the DNS servers is set automatically to 192.168.1.1.So I have 3 questions for you:1) Do I really need to enter those DNS servers that my ISP gave me or I can just leave it to DHCP to manage them?2) If I have entered ISP's DNS servers in Trendnet then witch DNS servers is actually I'm using the ones my ISP gave me or the ones that my D-Link have picked automatically?
View 11 Replies View Relatedi recently bought my dir-615 to hook up with my tp- td 8816 modem. After setting it up and successfully working one day, the router randomly stopped sending a WiFi signal. I restarted it twice and it began to work once more. I decided to install dd wrt build 21061 for my E3 dir -615 router. Unfortunately, i could not get it to work. I have dsl internet and my isp uses PPPoE. I used the option for the set up and filled out the appropriate information, but it would not work and the internet light on the router would turn orange.
Unfortunately i decided to play around with this router at the wrong time and the people in my house needed it. I decided to quickly re flash it by going into the emergency room(holding reset button during router reset until orange button starts blinking). However when i select the official d link firmware, it simply will not change. The page is stuck loading on the d-link emergency room page with no progression whatsoever. I tried the process 3 times already.
For some reason, i can connect to the router through WiFi but not through cable. When i connect through WiFi i am on the dd wrt firmware. I don't think i can return the modem to the store since it is clearly on DD WRT firmware.
I'm either looking for a solution to re flashing back to stock firmware, or making the internet work on the dd wrt firmware. The internet light turns orange when i select PPPoE on the set up...
I,ve used a network for a number of years with no problems. I have databases on computer 1 and access them with computer 2. After installing a Cisco e2500 I can connect to the databases but after a short period of time I am disconnected. If I search my network computer 1 is not found. Waiting a few minutes the network will find computer 1 again. At about the same time my firewall software has started to show an attack from an 2 different IP's I don't recognize but its always one of those 2 IP's. I'm assuming the two problems are related. I,ve considered going into my firewall and allowing the unknown IP access, BUT who knows where that IP is coming from. I've checked the Cisco setup but couldn't find an IP address that matched the attacking IP address.

I have a trunked esx host coming in and want to send traffic to specific ports based on vlan id - one port per vlan (10 total). Right now all I'm getting on the ips/ids is stp and arp traffic.

Had a look my E3000 router IP is 192.168.0.1 but those problematic devices has IP 192.168.1.XXX allocated by DHCP not sure why. Currently I manually set up static IP 192.168.0.XXX for those devices.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe wireless router, which is a linksys E1200 is completely new. I setup the entire wireless and there was no problems on that front.The problem is the wireless connection. Even when I am within a few inches of the router, I couldn't even load a youtube video properly. It buffers every 2 seconds. But when I plug the cable into my computer, it works completely fine. The signal strength is excellent all the time.
I tried using inSSIDer to look for the number of connections within my area for the one with the least inteference and found that I'm already on the good one, or actually, all of them looked more or less the same. But I tried changing anyways from 1 to 6 to 11, and none of them made a difference.I then tried changing my Wireless Security to WPA2 Personal. Then I tried changing the Wireless Network Mode to Wireless-G Only instead of Mixed and the wireless speed increased.
My 655 router (RevB, Firmware 2.03) is connected from one side to a DSL modem and on the side to two wired PC's and via wi-fi to several other wireless clients (two smart phones and two notebooks). All is well until I try to connect a specific notebook. Connection is estabished for about 30sec and then the router drops ALL connections (including internet and local network!) and I must re-start him by un-plugging from power. View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Comcast cable internet routed through a linksys E3000 router. My desktop is connected to my router via ethernet and my various other devices including my laptop are wifi connected. It seems almost at random that my desktop will lose its connection.Windows will show me as still being connected and my network connection will show a normal status until I atttempt to repair it then it will change to limited or no connectivity. Through all of this, my other devices all still have a wifi signal (I don't use more than 1 or 2 at the same time). I can reconnect to the internet by unplugging my ethernet cable then reuplugging it back in and my connection will start working again. I've also had several blue screens, and when I checked the dmp files it revealed my network card driver as the culprit, yet I have reinstalled and even clean installed the microsoft signed driver. I have also attempted to reboot both my modem and router to no avail.

I have experienced some strange behavior of WiFi connection using WRT320N router. ISP provides me the internet in 2 modes (day and night). During day mode max speed is 24 Mb/s and during night 60 MB/s. Modem ADSL (Cisco EPC3010) is connected to Linksys WRT320N and on router is configured WiFi.Now issue. In the day mode everything is perfect. Cable connection gives me 24 MB/s and WiFi connection around 22 MB/s so not so bad. However when my internet speeds up to 60 Mb/s (cable connection via router gives exactly 60), WiFi connection instead speed up as well, just drop to max 17 Mb/s. I have tied several different settings on the router including changes in WiFi band, channel width, different channels (now channel is setup to 1 which is maybe not totally free but no so occupied) and others but unfortunately without significant improvement (in many cases connection just slowed down more).

I bought a Sonos multiroom-system, and connected the first player to my E2000 router through Ethernet. It then gets a dynamic address through DHCP, I can see the Sonos within the network when looking in the admin tool of the router.When I start the Sonos controller software on my PC (XP), the software can not find the Sonos when my PC is connected through Wifi.As soon as I connect PC to the router with ethernet cable the Sonos is found immediately and can be initialised. After that, I can disconnect the cable and control the Sonos wirelessly. (as long as I don't close down the controller software for too long)
From what I understood from the sonos.com website, the Sonos sends an UPnP multicast signal on port for SSDP on port 1900 for initial connection. Further communications port are described below.Somehow, this multicast package seems not to be transferred into the wireless LAN, only into the wired LAN. Do I have to open some ports, filter some ports?Forward them?
My TP-Link 8817 which is connected to my ASUS RT-N66u appears to be blocking my ports. I port forwarded on my router to set up a server. I do have the right IP and ports set up. Originally i thought it was the router but then "netMakeChannDial: err=-3000 rn_p=8050dc14" appeared in the modem log but nothing in the router log even though i turned on the "logged packets type" to Both. I have googled this error but nothing came up so I'm probably just doing something stupid. I have even tried turning off the modem firewall and SPI, but still no luck.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI installed this Linksys E1500 yesterday and have had a problem keeping my iPhone 4 and an iPod Touch connected to WiFi.The devices go to sleep. When I swipe the screen and "bring them back" the WiFi is Not Connected. I have to go in and re-enter my network password again. As long as the devices don't go to sleep, they maintain connectivity. Once connected they function properly.
The iPad 2 & Samsung Galaxy S phone we have seem to be keeping their WiFi connectivity, as well as a G62 HP laptop running Windows 7, an older XP machine using a Cisco AE1000 wireless network adaptor and the Xbox 360. The issue is just with the iPhone 4(ios 5) and the iPod Touch(ios 4).
I had issues with the iPad and the Galaxy phone until i disabled WMM Support in App & Gaming.I would bring this back to the retailer but I had it sitting on my desk for about 30 days and it's past their return policy.The firmware is up to date on the Router. I've tried power cycling all the devices including the cable modem & the new router.
How many of the 881 switch interface ports can be used as router ports, have used the 877 etc where i can use 2 but need a low cost router that supports 3 for routing. (needs to be physical ports)

Wired devices can talk with wireless devices & on both interfaces devices obtain a DHCP lease. I can ping web based resources from the FA0 interface; the problem is, LAN devices can't ping has FA0. My Mac OS will be on a local subnet (example 192.168.1.0/24), and my Windows XP will be on another local subnet (example 192.168.2.0/24).
How am I supposed to configure my router in order for both of my 2 subnets (Mac OS & Windows XP) to "talk" to each other ?
On another note, I would also like my MAC OS IP address to be dynamically assigned from the router (DHCP server for this subnet), while my Windows XP IP address can be statically assigned.
I am trying to connect my laptop to a wireless router at my home, however, it shows limited access and when i browse the internet, i can't surf through the net. I have typed in my SSID and key correctly.
