Cisco WAN :: 1801 / LAN Not Communicating With WAN

Apr 22, 2013

Writing my first router config from scratch for an 1801.  I have wireless devices able to connect & authenticate with WPA.  Wired devices can talk with wireless devices & on both interfaces devices obtain a DHCP lease.  I can ping web based resources from the FA0 interface; the problem is, LAN devices can't ping has FA0.  I'm pretty sure (well a hunch) that this is going to be down to NAT

Network Devices Not Communicating With Each-other Properly

Jan 15, 2013

here's the network.

Panasonic TV (DLNA Device) - Ethernet
WDTV Live Plus (DLNA Device) - WLAN
Windows 8 PC - Ethernet
Windows 7 PC - WLAN
Samsung Galaxy S3 - WLAN

The WDTV can act as a media player for both the Windows 7 PC and Samsung Galaxy S3.The TV can act as a media player for the Windows 8 PC.If I connect the Windows 7 PC via Ethernet, then the TV sees it and can act as a media player for it and the WDTV no longer can.The TV can't act as a media player for the Samsung Galaxy S3 nor can they see each other to use the Galaxy S3 as a wireless remote (Viera remote android app) .Why can my wireless devices talk to each other and my wired devices talk to each other, but the wireless devices can't talk to the wired devices?

Devices On Same Wifi Network Are Not Communicating With Each Other

Jan 1, 2013

I've got several devices (two laptops, Xbox, WiiU, Apple TV, 2 ipads, and an iphone) that can connect to my home wifi network just fine. However, when connected it seems these devices cannot communicate with one another.

Homesharing between my iphone/laptop and Apple TV is no longer functioning. Also, I can not sync my windows media player with my Xbox, and I can not connect my iphone to the Xbox using AirMusic.

Here's my hardware: Motorola SB5101U SURFboard modem, Netgear Wireless N WNR2000 router.

WRT600N - Communicating Between 2 Different Local Subnets

May 8, 2012

I have the following equipments & specifications

1 Mac OS
1 Windows XP
1 Linksys Cisco WRT600N router

My Mac OS will be on a local subnet (example 192.168.1.0/24), and my Windows XP will be on another local subnet (example 192.168.2.0/24).

How am I supposed to configure my router in order for both of my 2 subnets (Mac OS & Windows XP) to "talk" to each other ?

On another note, I would also like my MAC OS IP address to be dynamically assigned from the router (DHCP server for this subnet), while my Windows XP IP address can be statically assigned.

Internet From ISP Drops / LAN Stops Communicating With A Server?

Aug 27, 2012

I lost internet from the ISP and parts of our LAN went down.We were able to reproduce the error.Problem: Internet from ISP drops, program using port 10541 within the LAN stops communicating with a server. The computer and server are on the same switch, neither require access to the internet. How we fixed the problem, temporarily: Unplugged the power from the cable modem. How we reproduced the problem: Unscrewed the cable drop to the modem and powered it on.I have checked our firewalls logs and have seen nothing that stands out. I was able to ping the server from multiple computers, including the one that had the program running on it.Also while the internet was down, I tried removing the DNSs from the computer running the program, this made no difference.

D-Link DIR-825 :: Router Stopped Communicating With Cable Modem

Jul 21, 2012

We ran a D-Link DIR-655 for about 5 years on our home network of 7 desktop computers (LAN) and two laptops (wireless) with essentially no problems.  However following a power outage last week the router stopped communicating with the cable modem (WAN port failure?). From the web site we determined that the DIR-825 is a fancier version of the DIR-655 (extra 5 GHz transmitter) so we upgraded to a new 825 three days ago. I did not use the wizard on the CD to set up the new router  -- rather did it manually because I thought I'd configure the new router exactly the same as the old one -- this was probably not a good idea in retrospect.   (FYI our new DIR-825 is a ver. B1 unit with ver. 2.02NA firmware.

After setting the router up -- it lit up like a Christmas tree and I could see all 7 desk top computers (3 are WIN7 & 4 are WINXP) in the LAN and all would go on-line with no issues.  (FYI 3 desk tops are directly attached to the DIR-825 and four attached via a switch). However, when I tried to map the network I find that only 5 of the desk tops we assigned to our named home network -- 2 or them could not be mapped as they were assigned to a "public" network.  So while they all still communicate with each other two are no longer in our home network.  I do not think this was anything that I did -- knowingly at least.

I logged back on the the router home page but I see nothing that clues me in as to what I did wrong. So I'm wondering how the DIR-825 made these "assignments" and what I can do to redirect the router to bring the other two computers into our home network. (BTW one of the two "miss-assigned" computers is WIN7 and one is WINXP so its not a window version issue).

Cisco Application :: 4700 GSS And ACE Stop Communicating After An Hour

Aug 20, 2012

I have a client that I recently replaced their GSS's for and last evening I cut them over to an HA pair of ACE 4700's.  After about an hour, it looks like the GSS and ACE stopped communicating with each other.  When this happened, they switched back over to the old CSS appliances and everything came back up fine.  Apparently this happened the last time they tried to cutover to the ACE and they contacted TAC.  TAC told them the issue happened because the GSS's they were running at the time were EOL.  So now, with brand new GSS's, they are experiencing the same issue.

As of now, the ACE's are offline and I cannot get into them to see what the issue may be.  We tested the sites out last night after the cutover and everything seemed fine.  There was one minor problem that I resolved quickly, but that was it and then we left.  The client started getting emails about an hour later about their main website being down.  They do have the ACE logging to a syslog server, so we will look at that to see if there is anything relavent.  I suggested that we bring up a test site to use through the GSS/ACE and see what happens.  They have another CSS that they can run their sites through, so this option will work without taking down all of their other sites.

Cisco VPN :: 5505 / 5510 - Several Devices Not Communicating Across Tunnel

Jan 30, 2012

We have a new site-to-site configuration comprised of two ASAs (a 5505 at the remote site and a 5510 locally).  The site-to-site tunnel is up and appears to be working fine, with the exception of one thing; two identified IP addresses on the remote end cannot seem to communicate across the tunnel.

For example: address 192.168.3.81 is able to see resources at our facility, but 192.168.3.82 (an HP Laser jet P2055dn) cannot.  However, 192.168.3.82 is ping able from the inside interface of the remote ASA and doesn't appear to be having any other connectivity issues.  Also, the default gateway of this device appears to be set properly.  When checking the real-time log viewer, I'm not seeing any error messages, it just appears as if the .82 device is not routing to the remote ASA, but strangely enough the local ASA's logs do seem to show communication with .82.  (See the below logs.)

When we attempt to ping the 192.168.3.82 address from a local PC (10.10.10.10) that participates in the VPN tunnel, we see the following:

Local ASA
6|Jan 31 2012|16:03:53|302021|192.168.3.82|0|10.10.10.10|512|Teardown ICMP connection for faddr 192.168.3.82/0 gaddr 10.10.10.10/512 laddr 10.10.10.10/512
[ code]....

Remote ASA
6|Jan 31 2012|16:03:53|302021|10.10.10.10|512|192.168.3.82|0|Tear down ICMP connection for faddr 10.10.10.10/512 gaddr 192.168.3.82/0 laddr 192.168.3.82/0
[ code].....

We can successfully ping 192.168.3.81 from the same local workstation we see the following on the remote ASA :

6|Jan 31 2012|16:03:38|302021|10.10.10.10|512|192.168.3.81|0|Tear down ICMP connection for faddr 10.10.10.10/512 gaddr 192.168.3.81/0 laddr 192.168.3.81/0
[Code]....

We have no IP address overlapping and neither ASA's logs show any errors. Unfortunately, we don't have access to the remote site's router configurations, but we've been assured that the issue is not on their end.

Cisco WAN :: 3560 - Switch Not Communicating With Load Balancing Router

Nov 18, 2011

I have a Cisco network on a ship where I work, I have an Ericsson GSM Access point which picks up local GSM 3G signal and broadcasts it onboard. I have two of these units and they are connected to a D-Link Load balancing router which is in turn connected to a Cisco 3560 Series 8 poe switch. Each unit is on a different subnet. The Cisco is on the DHCP server from my AD server (Windows 2003 Server) The Load balancing router has no DHCP and the Ericsson units have their own DHCP servers. On the Cisco switch if I plug in with a laptop I get an IP address for the DHCP on my server. I cannot ping the load balancing router from it. If I connect to the Load balancing router and set a static address for that subnet I can access the internet via the Ericsson units. And if I connect to the Ericsson I can access the Internet.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Installed Computers Stop Communicating

I,ve used a network for a number of years with no problems. I have databases on computer 1 and access them with computer 2. After installing a Cisco e2500 I can connect to the databases but after a short period of time I am disconnected. If I search my network computer 1 is not found. Waiting a few minutes the network will find computer 1 again. At about the same time my firewall software has started to show an attack from an 2 different IP's I don't recognize but its always one of those 2 IP's. I'm assuming the two problems are related. I,ve considered going into my firewall and allowing the unknown IP access, BUT who knows where that IP is coming from. I've checked the Cisco setup but couldn't find an IP address that matched the attacking IP address.

Cisco Switches :: Series 200 Smart Switch Not Communicating - DHCP Blocked

May 29, 2011

I have a small, simple small business network.  There are 2 switches - an 8-port switch connected to my main Windows server (which is the DHCP provider for the network), and a 24-port switch which is plugged into the 8-port switch.

I replaced these switches (Dell unmanaged switches) with the Cisco 200 series smart switches (the 8-port and 26-port models).  When I plug the 26-port switch into the 8-port switch, it is unable to get its DHCP address from the Windows server.  Also, any device plugged into the 26-port switch cannot communicate with any other device, and all of the ethernet port lights flash at the same time at the same frequency - quite a light show!

If I plug the Windows server DIRECTLY into the 26-port switch it receives a DHCP address.

I have tried a 2nd Cisco 26-port swtich and it does the same thing, so I assume it is not a hardware issue.
