Re-connect Home Wireless Signal To Computer?

Apr 9, 2012

how to re-connect my home wireless signal to my computer. The wireless signal is strong and the other computers in my house will connect with no issues. My computer connected with no problems to my wireless signal at work. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on a Lenovo Idea Pad Win7 PC. The computer was connecting yesterday and then was shut down. The next time I got on, ,it wouldn't connect. I've tried re-establishing the network as a new network, but it says the network already exists. The profile is the same as our other computers and nothing has been changed there. When I disconnect from the wireless signal and ask to re-connect it says that the it is trying to connect, but can't make the connection. I'm looking for any way to re-build the profile so it will connect and work again.

Wireless Signal Is Detected But Computer Doesn't Connect

Apr 6, 2011

I have a an HP Pavilion dv6000t notebook running Windows Vista.I have a wireless router at home and connect to the wireless signal using both this computer and my other computer that I use for work. Yesterday, out of the blue, my laptop stopped connecting to my home wireless signal. It detects the signal, but when I click on it to connect (something I shouldn't have to do, as it is configured to connect automatically), I get a message saying that it couldn't connect and suggests that the signal strength is low.I know that the signal strength is fine as I am connected just fine on my work computer.I can plug my laptop into the router using a cable and it connects just fine that way, so the only problem is with the wireless signal. I have restarted the computer, modem, and router, to no avail.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G - See Signal But Can't Connect With Computer Or Iphones?

Oct 17, 2011

I am having problems connecting to my wireless internet.  We were getting a poor signal so we moved our router to our living room where we always are, but now we can't connect.  We tried resetting everything, turned on and off several times.  Went to the linksys wireless set up page, changed SSID and password.  Still can't connect with the computer or our iphones.  It shows our SSID is there but won't connect.  My internet when plug directly to the computer works fine (I am using it now).  My computer can connect to the router Linksys WRT54G, we just can't get it to connect to the wireless.

Windows XP Professional - Cannot Connect Work Computer To Home Internet

Jun 15, 2011

The internet connection on my old computer has always been fine; all cables are connected correctly. However, this computer from work will not connect to the internet. The icon in the bottom right corner of the screen states that I am connected, but the internet browser claims that it is unable to display web pages. May the cause of this be related to any unique computer settings that a workplace may have on a computer in their network? Other computers have no problem connecting to the internet through the same, wired connection. The OS is Windows XP Professional.

Cat5 From Computer Receiving Wireless Signal?

That third computer will be 200 more feet away. I have a direct Cat5 wire from the wireless computer desktop to that point 200 feet away. Persistent Wireless Disconnection From New Computer Only At Home?

Oct 19, 2011

I've just got a BRAND NEW HP dv7-6197ca

Specs: Windows 7 64 bit
Processor: Intel i7-2360QM 2.0 Ghz with Turbo boost technology
RAM: 8GB DDR3
Graphics: Radeon HD 6770m 1GB
Storage: 2 x 500 GB 7200rpm
Network Interface: Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN
Wireless: Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n. Bluetooth wireless networking with WiDi

So problem is with persistent disconnection from my landlord's wireless hotspot. The usual exclamation mark at the wireless bar indicating that I'm connected to the network but I don't get internet access...I've got the computer checked up by STAPLES where I bought it and everything was in perfect shape, network card fully functional... I mean it is brand new. They even reformatted the computer and installed clean Windows 7 with no crap software in it...I brought the computer to school and internet works FLAWLESSLY. Disgustingly fast. The problem is only when I'm at home where my internet would work fine for say 5 mins and then the exclamation mark will pop at the wireless bar and I would lose internet access for half an hour or more. I would get the access back and then it would disconnect again.

I called my ISP and they suggested to change my wireless channel to a unique # say channel 11 from 1-11. Turns out the wireless channel already is on 11... I then got it changed to 1 by my landlord. Still same situation. We then tried to change the wireless security encryption (e.g WPA-personal to WPA2). My computer can't connect in that case...On a side note I do have an older laptop (~7 years old), the one I had before purchasing this new computer. This old laptop can connect to the wireless and work PERFECTLY.

So the problem happens only with this new computer, and only at home. I'm completely clueless as to what the problem might be. It looks like some kind of interference but I've tried changing wireless channel (from 11 to 1) which didn't get rid of the persistent disconnection. Could it be interference with another computer that's using the same wireless hotspot in the house?

SBG6580 Low Signal From Home Routers

Sep 11, 2012

I have a broadband Motorola SBG6580 cablemodem that feeds internet into my main home computer via a cable. The modem is also a wireless router. The modem is in an "office-room" inside my house. The main bedroom is located about 25 meters, with two bedrooms in between the office-room and the main bedroom.I broke a leg so I figured I could work on bed, but I have this problem: the signal from the motorola wireless router is so low at the main bedroom that the connection drops all the time. Oddly (or maybe not), I can see like 10 other access points, presumably from my neighbors, all with a full signal. And I live in a "full-floor" apartment so I only have neighbors above and below.I connected a linksys WRT54G2 that I have and I get the exact same problem.

Computer Loses Signal Unless Very Close To Router?

Sep 28, 2011

About a week ago my laptop started acting strange. I noticed when I brought my computer to my room (which is where i usually use my computer) it said that there were connections available where the signal bar is. Which is odd because it usually just auto connects. So i clicked on the signal bar and connected to my internet, but it lost the connection shortly after so I clicked connect again and it said windows was unable to connect to the router. Then shortly after that it said no connections were available. So i brought the computer to the computer to the family room ,where the router is, to check the router. It was nothing wrong with the router so I looked back at the computer and it was automatically connected to the internet with a five bar connection, but when i left the family room with the computer it immediately lost the signal. So i decided i should just stay in the family room. The next day the same problem occured and i went back to the family room to use the computer but i noticed the connection wasnt usually at five bars like it usually is wen im that close to the router but it was 4 bars or 3.

The next day i went over my fathers house for the weekend, and when im over there i pretty much always have a five bar connection even though im not in the same room as the router because im 1 floor directly above the router. Now when i used the computer over my dads house it had a 3 bar connection, disconnected from the internet at times, and when i try to connect bak it said that windows could not connect to router like it had said in my room bak at my own house, even though it always used to have a very high connection before this problem happened. So wen i got bak to my house i went to the family room to connect to the internet and now im having the same problems i had over my dads house. Now i try deleting some programs to see if they affected the internet and have even turned off some start off services on using mpconfig but that didnt work either
