Unable To Connect To The Internet Wirelessly After Configuring A Range Extender?
May 28, 2011
I recently configured a linksys range extender to my modem and since doing that, I'm getting a message stating that there is an IP address conflict with another system on the network. When I set up the range extender, I assigned an IP address to it that was different from the modem but yet this message still appears. Also even though my wireless connection is connected, I'm unable to connect to the internet - I keep getting the message 'internet explorer cannot display webpage'.
-Tried to connect to internet, got message "unable to connect to proxy server"
-Decided this proxy stuff isn't worth it, deleted the proxy extension
-Reset router
-Now wireless isn't working on ANY laptop- it shows a connection available but cannot connect to it, however wired connection works (and is how I'm on here right now)Is this as simple as setting up a new wireless connection?
-went under "proxy server" under "LAN settings" in ctrl panel
-The box which stated "use a proxy for LAN" was checked, and the address and port I obtained from hidemyass were underneath
-I unchecked the box, applied the new settings, and reset my router
I'm running Windows Vista on PC. Have a Netgear router. Just bought Netgear range extender WN3000RP. Have the extender plugged in and light is green. When I try my PC's wireless network manager, it does not recognize any wireless devices to add. How can I connect to the extender wireless network when it is not recognized on my wireless manager??
I just connect my new EA 6500 router and I am trying to connect my Belkin F9K1106 Range extender to the 5Ghz and it keeps saying the password is incorrect. I am able to connect to the router using 2.4Ghz with the same password. I have updated the extender's firmware to 1.00.16 and it didn't work.
I work at a Public Safety building in Pennsylvania and our employees here share a Wifi connection with a local hospital facility that is in a industrial park behind us. The room we work in is able to access the Public Wifi but only half of the room has a good connection. I went to the local computer store and purchased a Belkin Dual-band wireless Range Extender and got it all set up, now I have the Public Wifi Extention access and it will connect to it but it has no internet access. Now we have no access to the administor or the network from our facility. How do i get internet access thru this range extender? If i connect from the good half of the room to the Public wifi i have a good connection with internet access but as soon as you put it thru the extender no more internet access.
I have decided to buy belkin n600 router. my question is can i connect Belkin wireless range extender n300 to belkin n 600 for beater coverage. is this possible ? if possible how many extender i can connect to the router and also can i connect extender with wire and wireless.
I am having trouble to configure the wireless on the Cisco C887VA-W-E-K router.I managed to get the DSL working using cable, but cant seem to connect to the router when i use Wireless. I can see the SSID and when i double click on it i get the Network Key promo. I input the network key, the router seems to try and connect me but then it fails, its as if the router cannot give me an IP address even though i have DHCP configured on the router. Maybe the AP and The router arent linked up?
I have configured many wireless devices in the past, but this new model is different, it seems Cisco have changed their router infrastructure and separated the router from the AP.From the router i can ping the AP IP address and i have the latest IOS - C800-Universal-mz.SPA.151-4.M4
Here is a copy of the config

I am unable to connect to my network using my d-link wireless adapter. I am able to connect to my neighbor's network and other devices in my house can use my network with no problem. I am absolutely positive that I'm inputting the right password, but am unable to connect.
I'm having a big problem with my connectivity. I can connect to the internet (a BT Home Hub router) using my ethernet cable but not using wireless. My computer is searching and finding wireless networks, but when I try to connect to my router, it says limited access/connectivity.
I haven't used my computer in quite a long time (7 months) as it stopped working and is miraculously working again now (huzzah!) but the wireless does not, when it was perfect previously.
I have run IPCONFIG/ALL and the details are below. This is done with the ethernet cable attached.

We have 2 HP Pavillon laptops working with a Netgear DG834GT wireless router and both working fine until a week ago. Now one cannot connect wirelessly (but can using ethernet cable) the other is working fine. ISP is Sky. Anti virus on both laptops is Bullguard. It does connect for a minute or so but with poor signal quality and speed of 1mb ps and then drops connection. At first it said unidentified network but after various attempts trying to resolve it does now actually say Home Network but ipv4 connectivity which should say internet says no internet access. It does go back to unidentified network and then back to home network intermitently. The only thing that has been done recently was that my husband connected a Samsung Galaxy 2 Tab to his laptop (daughters christmas present) to download items to it and whilst connected he noticed that Samsung Mobile MTP Device installed something. Could this have caused an issue. He cannot see how to remove this. Below is ipconfig from both laptops
The first one is working fine

We have 2 computers the main one running OS XP and mine running Vista. Previously, we had no problems with my computer finding the main on the network along with the printer. But now the main computer can see mine (printer and PC) but I cannot connect to the main. Mine does not see the printer nor the PC. We are both running the same virus protection, which is Norton. I really want to use the main computer's printer, which I was able to do until for some reason now I go into networking and it is not there. I know it is marked as shared. When I go into setup network printer and type the name of the printer a window pops up "The printer sever spooling service is not available". I have uninstalled the printer software and drivers and reinstalled but still not showing up on the network? When I click print a document the printer I am looking for is there but it shows as offline, which it is not. I am not 100% sure but seemed to occur when we switched from Mckfee to Norton?
I'm using Untangle on my clients wireless network. It handles all the DHCP and DNS requests. I'm using the web filter option as well. There are two access points, one on upper level and one on lower level. All connect into a switch and then into the optional port on the firewall. Firewall is not set up to give out DHCP leases. Pretty basic setup. Ever since I got Untangle up and running ive noticed my laptop, which has Win 7 as O/S will connect to wireless network, i can ping untangle box, and access point. But no internet. Signal bar shows I have limited connectivity. I thought it was just something on my laptop and set the issue aside. For the record I've never had any issue with connecting to a wireless network with this laptop, at home Im using Ubuntu server to handle all my DHCP, DNS requests on both my wired and wireless network. Never had a problem. Now this client is a library. And I talk to the director, and she has gotten complaints that any patron that uses Win 7 can not connect to wireless. When I'm not there we have a laptop that uses XP, it connects fine. All other patrons that use XP connect without a problem.
Little info on my setup as is: Comcast ISP Internet Modem with the wireless gateway built in. I live in a faily large house and am out in my garage a lot where the signal is sub-par, id also like to have internet out in my yard without it sucking.
I have an extra linksys wrt45g sitting in my garage...could I use that someway to extend the range of my wifi? The signal from my main gateway is wireless N.
I have a compaq Presario CQ 60 windows vista 32 bit. I cannot connect to my centurytel westell 7500. I was able to connect to the westell versalink 327W but when I upgraded to the 7500 I havnt been able to connect wirelessly. I can with the Ethernet but not wirelessly. My wifi network adapter is a atheros AR5007 802.11b/g.
I currently have a Belkin router and a Belkin range extender. I have the router downstairs and the extender upstairs. Right now the router operates as <SSID> and the extender is <SSID> Alt. I would like to use them both as <SSID>, and have them work together. For example, I use the Wifi downstairs on my laptop, I walk upstairs, and I don't have to change over to the other network. It would switch automatically to the stronger signal.
I have a Cisco Valet+ AP. I have added an Engenius Range extender, big house, (actually a B&B). The setup seems to have gone well (ranger extender linked to AP). Is there a way that I can verify that a PC in the big house away from the AP is actually connected to the Range Extender.
I started out with a wireless router/modem that my ISP provides as its default modem. It was and still is working fine. We will call this router A. My uncle who is living with me wasn't receiving the wifi signal in his room so he went and bought a different router that is supposed to have more range. Also, I believe it is capable of providing higher speeds wirelessly, but that is really irrelevant I think. We can call this new router B. I currently have router B running through router A with an ethernet cable into a LAN port- LAN port to LAN port. I basically want B to be a wireless range extender. My question is quite simple actually. I have everything up and running just fine, but it seems as if the wireless signal may still be coming from the old router A.
Just recently im having trouble connecting to the wireless Using my hp laptop. The Wireless Was previously working fine though recently, has stopped working, all the other devices on the wireless network work fine (Asus Laptop, Iphone's etc). The hp laptop has no problem in connecting to the neighbours wireless and picking up a signal, however, when i go to search for the WAG320N im unable to find it in the list, sometimes it does appear, but after double clicking has trouble connecting to the wireless and will then dissapear from the list. I have tried manually entering the SSID and Password and seeing if it would connect, and also manually entering the IP address however no luck, no other device on the network has trouble finding the broadcast Signal Apart from the HP DV6-3139TX
Im running a linksys wireless router, WRT54G V6 with firmware 1.02.8. It worked before I moved after I moved I can't connect via wireless. hard line works. i've tried resting to factor, i've tried not using ses, not using custom ssid. I've rest it like 5 times retarted the computers. I've hit the little cisco systems button on the front, this makes it work for a few minutes. When I hit the button it will go out then come back on white, and blink around 1-2 blinks per second, it will do this for maybe 1-2min. then stops and changes back to orange. and i get nothing from it. the WLAN light is on like it's working but I cannot detect it with my desktop or laptop, can i can detect 3 other routers around me. I've tried pretty much everything i know to do, tried flashing it, updating, about the only option i have left is throwing it out the window.
I'm using E4200 with latest 1.0.02 firmware and found I can not connect to VPN with my iPhone4 by WiFi.Googled a bit and found it's a common problem for Cisco routers when wireless devices can not connect to VPN but wired ones connects with no problems.\
ADSL Box in office ground floor - Range extender in 1st floor lounge - portable Win7 64 in dining room next to lounge (1st floor) Setup proceeds and completes as it should but the problem: The portable connects to the new link *_EXT but with "no access" (the extender is not connecting to the router). Having read several reviews about connection problems with this kit, none seem to have the problem I have.
I am a university student and my building is made of concrete so I get pretty spotty wireless (lag at 9000+ ping on games?!). To improve my connection quality I was recommended the Alfa AWUS036NHR USB network adapter [URL]. The adapter itself works marvelously but here's the problem: when I install the adapter, the existing wireless drivers on my laptop fail and I cannot use the internal laptop NIC even when the adapter is unplugged. It says the device is ready but does not detect any networks. When I reinstall the NIC drivers, the adapter doesn't work anymore.Device manager still shows both drivers installed and running but the corresponding NIC/adapter won't detect any networks.
What I have tried:
-Disabling the other driver, reinstalling other driver -Disabling a functioning driver to attempt to get the other device to work -Trying different versions of the drivers--a longshot I know
My hardware:
Internal NIC:: Realtek RTL8723A Wireless Lan 802.11n USB 2.0 External adapter: Alfa AWUS036NHR using Realtek RTL8192C USB 802.11B/G/N 300M Wireless NIC drivers for Windows 8 Laptop: Lenovo Yoga 13 (i7 version), no ethernet port available, Windows 8 Pro
can I use both of them (not at the same time) without having to reinstall drivers each and every time I switch?
i purchased the belkin i described in the title of this post. It instructs me after connecting it to my pc that i should go to web page "[URL] it comes up that there is no site for this address. I can't use this extender until i visit the web to set it up.
Can I use netgear WGR 614 as range extender of another wireless router?I already using a model with wireless router, i have a spare netgear WGR 614. I want this router to pick up wireless signal from the first wireless router then share the internet on ethernet port only.
I just replaced my DIR-655 with a DHP-1320 since the constant microwave usage in our house whacks out our wireless during breakfast and dinner time. Now the PCs on the other side of the house are connected over a Home-Plug network. Is there a way to connect the DIR-655 to one of the Home-Plug ports on the distant side of the house to "extend" the wireless coverage there for our laptops? Presume this is a different scenario than creating a "bridge", "access point", or "extender" since the router would be connected back via Ethernet cable. There may be some overlap too in wireless coverage around the middle of the house. Ideally I'd like to use the same SSID.Has this ever been done before? What would I need to reconfigure on the DIR-655?
still trying to improve my signal to a Roku unit in a New York aparment (about 60 feet away BUT throught several walls) Cannot see the 5MhZ and the 2.4 is weak. Had been recommended the D Link DAP 1360 but it seesm older and gets lower rating on Amazon. An extender that gets higher ratings is the HAWKING HWREN1 (PS also seems older -- 2004...)
