I am currently using a backup program that I thought would back up from any location including a NAS drive but this is not the case. The backup program does not show the NAS drive directory... I was just wondering if there is a way of making a NAS drive appear as a local drive. I've mapped the drive and created symbolic links for it as well and it still does not appear. I was planning on using the iSCSI method but I believe my NAS does not support it.

I'm looking for a hardened Cisco 3G router with modem emulation. Which Cisco router is able to fullfill this task?We have for about 200 small remote sites in the Netherlands where old PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) have been installed for monitoring the water level. These PLC's are not able to communicate via TCP/IP and therefor we want to place a 3G router near the PLC. We want to setup a socket to the 3G router, which on its turn needs to enable a "serial port" (Ring, ring), hardware signals like DCD. The router will be situated in small cabinets near the water. The temperature will be above '0' at any time with special heating elements, but it can be a bit dusty inside, so a hardened router is necessary.

I have a Motorola 2-Way system I am trying to connect via T1 using CEM/ SaTOP over MPLS, I am using the Cisco MWR 2941 routers. I had them directly connected with a /30 bit network in the office with a T-Berd plugged in both 0/0 T1 controllers and this config was working, reconfigured them with their LAN IP's and put them on location and now the CEM0/0 interface comes up on both, but the T1 controller comes up and then goes right back down (10 SES) - they can ping each other on loopback and lan interfaces.

I have an old computer (Dell gx280) that has a external usb 2.0 hard drive connected to it. I was trying to copy the files over a gigabit network connection to another computer and it was only transferring at approx. 2.5 megabytes a second. This was only using a small fraction of the gigabit network card in both the source and destination computer. I saw the CPU was maxed out on the source PC b/c of an application. Once I quit that application the CPU usage went back to essentially nothing. The copy job then jumped up to 14 megabytes a second and was using 30-35% of the gigabit connection.
The NIC and the USB ports are on the motherboard. How did the CPU usage slow this whole process down and was it impacting the network card, the USB port or both?

I am trying come up with a setup that allows for a computer to simultaneously be connected to the web via a secure wireless network and to provide a shared drive via an unsecured (possibly ad hoc) wireless network.Which is to say, the computer needs to be able to use the web wirelessly via the secure network, and people need to be able to share files with it wirelessly whether or not THEY can use the secure wifi. One last requirement is that I need a this to be something that I can set up in a given location with no more configuration than required to connect to the secured wifi - if the setup requires me to mess around with the configuration of the router for the secure network itself, it won't work.

I have a local network that I want to connect to a WiFi site. The site is a free service offered to our community by a local ISP. The network uses a wireless router but cable links the two relatively old PCs. They are used for a single inventory-accounting program. One serves as the softwre host. The organization wants episodic Internet access so they can use a software update auto installation service. There are alternative ways to accomplish these updates, but this pathway is the only one acceptable to the organization. Why they reject a simple thumb drive using an out of system download is beyond me, but it seems to be a locked in idea. Oh, the current wireless router cannot accept DD-WRT, but one is available if it can be used if useable.

Me and my girlfriend moved into our new flat in September and since then we've been sharing my laptop as her laptop refuses to connect to our Wi-Fi, we are with Virgin Media and I have had literally no connection problems whatsoever but hers gives us various errors like 'No Internet Access' 'Local Connection Only' and sometimes it will connect for about 4 minutes and then just disconnects again, the only Anti-Virus she has running is AVG. It has also happened with friends who have brought there laptops over.

I'm currently in college, and do most things with my laptop, and I have wifi just about everywhere. It has a generous 500 GB of storage, but I'd like to store non-essential files on, an external hard drive. However, lugging around 3 TB of storage isn't exactly feasible, and with my experience with my current 1.5 TB portable drive, me running around everywhere with it bouncing in my bag is just going to abuse it until it stops functioning (which it has...)[URL]

After restarting my laptop my wireless card (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000) has suddenly stopped working (ThinkPad SL410 with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit). The hardware switch is on, the software / Fn switch is on, drivers are recent, device manager says the device is functioning properly, but there's a red X on the network icon in the system tray and obviously no wireless networks are showing up. I thought the wireless card died, but I booted off a linux live CD and the wireless card works just fine.

I had to send my HPg61 laptop in to check out a heat issue a few months ago. When it came back, I got a headphone jack issue (now resolved) and a Wi-Fi problem - I used to have great wifi from my bedroom to my parent's study which is where the modem is, even when I did have the heat issue, but when I got it back, that all changed. From my bedroom, my laptop would say "no connection detected" and had a red x over the wifi icon in the taskbar, but would have good connection if I were in the living room with it. This didn't last long - one day, the icon turned into a computer with a red x over it.

I have read numerous postings on this and ather sites about the Atheros AR9285 not being able to see wireless networks - and guess what I have the same problem! My laptop is an HP CQ61-312SA upgraded to 4GB of ram, and running Windows 7 Home Premium, I have tried everything I can find on this and other forum sites with no luck at all, including updating drivers, making sure Wlan is started etc and I have downloaded programs like Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and Insider = both of which show absolutely nothing.I have one other problem that might indicate a software problem - on the odd occasion when my computer does try to connect to a wireless network it resets to a blue scree which states that it is doing a 'physical memorey dump' and then restarts. My Atheros card has worked perfectly for 2 years, but I managed to purchase another it case it was faulty - with the same results. I also upgraded the memory in case of a memory fault.Rolling back drivers and using system restore does not work and ipconfig/all gives identical readouts to others with this problem.
