Wifi Giving Local Internet Only?
Dec 4, 2011The Internet on my Toshiba laptop suddenly has stopped working. If I connect the laptop directly to the router the internet works ok. Othe computers work ok using the same router.

TP-Link W8961ND - Internet Is Not Giving Response
Apr 7, 2012Buying a TP-Link W8961ND modem/router. Didn't work at all, except for a vague sense I got that the internet wasn't spending as long 'down' as previously when it did drop.And now today my housemate and I are both connected and suffering these intermittent drops, which become more and more frequent, until finally the internet cuts out and won't return. Now I cannot get the TP-Link router to connect to the internet at all. However, switching back over to the original D-Link router now the internet DOES work, but still only intermittently. As I've been writing this it's dropped out for a couple of moments twice!

Apr 22, 2013I am currently on Time Warner Cable 10 mbps packge, and am using their wireless DOCIS3 modem/router. It is connected in my bedroom to the main computer. That computer stays connected. However, throughout the rest of the house (we have a two story townhome) it will drop completely or give limited connection...constantly. Sometimes I can have my laptop next to me and it will go out or give limited connection. The connection speed never drops, it just goes completely to no connection. Not for sure what is going on, if its on my end or time warner. Has been doing this for quite some time, the cable company comes out and changes the modem, but that's it, couple days later, goes back to doing it again.

D-Link DIR-825 :: Suddenly Stopped To Work And Not Giving Internet
Nov 10, 2011I have this D-Link DIR-825 and it was working fine till yesterday. All of a sudden it stopped connecting to internet. I restarted it and tried to login to the router but failed. I called the support and did a hard reset of the router. After that when I am not able to connect to the router from my computer for configuring it again. When I connected the Router to my computer via LAN cable sometimes the LAN port is glowing and sometimes it is not. I tried different LAN Cables too. But nothing is working and I am not able to get to the router page.

Jan 14, 2012I have recently bought a new XPS 15Z Currently when I surf the internet I am unable to use the browsers ( IE9 or firefox ). I am able to use non-broswer related internet applications like STEAM, MSN or QQ with no issues in terms of speed or stability. But when I use my browsers to surf, I can have periodic moments when I cannot surf the internet, such as IE9 which says that I cannot connect to the internet due to some unknown error. But when I run diagnostics, it says that I do not have any errors. My adapter for my wired is the Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20). I have already contacted my ISP provider who have worked for with all the troubleshooting methods they can over the phone, and I trust that they are doing their best. But now it seems to me that the problem lies in my computer hardware or software and not in my router.

Sep 4, 2012Both of these model units apear to have a max Internet downlink speed of about 26 or 27Mbs. I have tested this with 10 different units at 3 different sites where the provided broadband downlink speed is a full 50Mbs, including in my own office. My normal router is a Cisco ASA5505 and I have also connected a Cisco 1840 router and even an old Linksys router and all achieve the full 50MBs speed using a variety of speed test sites. The cable modem at my office and at the other sites have a gigabit LAN connection and the RVS4000/WRVS4400N units certainly should be able to achieve the 50Mbs speed. If this issue can not be resolved, my clients will no doubt want me to install a different manufacturer's unit, which I will do.

Connecting Local Network To Wifi Hotspot?
Oct 23, 2012I have a local network that I want to connect to a WiFi site. The site is a free service offered to our community by a local ISP. The network uses a wireless router but cable links the two relatively old PCs. They are used for a single inventory-accounting program. One serves as the softwre host. The organization wants episodic Internet access so they can use a software update auto installation service. There are alternative ways to accomplish these updates, but this pathway is the only one acceptable to the organization. Why they reject a simple thumb drive using an out of system download is beyond me, but it seems to be a locked in idea. Oh, the current wireless router cannot accept DD-WRT, but one is available if it can be used if useable.

Surfing the net is fine, I'm get an average of 30ms when I ping to my local ISP.
But when I try to stream music or movies from my PC to iPad via iTunes, it starts playing for a couple of seconds then it stops, and then it will start again for a few more seconds. I tried pinging from PC to iPad and get a range from 400ms-2500ms.
I'm not sure which settings I need to adjust to make it work correctly.

HOWEVER, when I attempted to access the web interface on a handy iPAD I had absolutely no problem getting through to the web interface (after providing username and passsword).Limiting access to wired clients seems like a simple a prudent measure ... which is why this option is there for the paranoid among us.This seems like a black-and-white bug.

I recently bought a Sony Bravia HD TV with wireless internet capabilities.When I try to connect to my wireless internet. The TV finds our wireless router name, but when we try to finally connect wirelessly it gives the following message: TV wi-fi found, local access failed and network access failed. The router we have is a Actiontech PK500.On the TV we have three differant ways for the tv to locate the router they are by scanning, the WPS button and by entering the WPS pin. We've tried all three and got the above message.
Linksys Wireless Router :: Local Management For E2500 As Wifi Access Point
Jul 19, 2012I am using an E2500 as an access point, which is working fine. I have an Ethernet cable on one of the LAN ports of the E2500 connected to a LAN port on my gateway router. The LAN address of the E2500 is 192.168.7.3 and the LAN address of the gateway router is 192.168.7.1. Clients on the E2500 wireless network have no problems getting to the Internet through the gateway router. Clients on the E2500 wireless network can reach the E2500 local management port at 192.168.7.3 on port 80. On the gateway router I am forwarding WAN port 8083 to LAN address 192.168.7.3 at port 80. But I cannot access the E2500 local management interface via the gateway router. The E2500 should see the request as from 192.168.3.1 due to NAT in the gateway router, right? I can reach any of my actual access points this way, just not a router being used as an access point. Security/design limitation of the router?

My network cannot find the printer. I looked at my riuter setup and the MAC Address Clone has two buttons, Enabled Disabled. The Disabled button is clicked on. Accdording to documentation I foudn on this website, it looks like I can Enabled the MAC Address clone button. The document also mentgioend entereding the MAC address for a PC.
If I enable the MAC Address Clone, do I enter the MAC address for the printer or during the install process does the MAC address get installed also

- Restarted router via 192.168.2.1 - did not work
- Deleted the wireless connection, then re-connected to it - did not work
I haven't really done anything recently that I think might affect this, not that I can think of...
No Internet Connection Local Only?
Apr 18, 2011I have several devices connected to a homehub at my home.These include smart phones, desktop computer xbox 360 and a laptop.All work fine except the laptop which until the other day (when I uninstalled Norton Security off it) has been unable to connect to the internet.The laptop has Windows Vista SP 2. I searched the forums already for any details of how to rectify this and have seen mentioned the commands netsh int ip reset reset.log (along with Ipv4 and ipv6) and netsh winsock reset catalog? went to add/remove programmes to get rid of Norton and have sinced tried to use the Norton removal tool which every time I copy it across to the laptop from my desktop when I try to run it it says it is corrupt.I was then referred to a uninstall tool called Revo which I used to remove any symantec or Norton it could find.I have also turned off windows firewall and Im still not finding a resolution.

Jul 18, 2012This is the second time I have had this issue happen. Here is some probably useful information:
-I have (2) HP Pavillion dv6000 laptops running on Vista
-I have (1) iPad 2
-I am using a Belkin Surf N300 router
We lost power due to a storm last week, and both of my laptops would not connect to the Internet. I could connect to the router with access saying local only. I called Belkin and they changed some information on my laptop to allow me to connect. Now, I have the same issue with my other HP laptop and again called Belkin but they could not fix the issue. I can connect to the router and use the Internet on my iPad and (1) of my HP laptops, but not my last one. Even when I connect to the router with an Ethernet cable, it says local only access and no internet connection. So I did the ipconfig /all on both laptops and here is what they say..

Local Access Only Can't Get Internet To Connect
May 14, 2011I have a Compaq Presario Windows Vista. I currently have a Wireless router. It used to be Netgear. About 2 wks or so, my company changed it and gave me the password. I am currently connected to the one they changed to but local access only and no internet. Under Network and Sharing Center, it says: Unidentified network (Public network) Access: Local only Connection: Wireless Network Connection (perfectv) Under Internet Options, Connections , it shows the following connection: T-Mobile US Standard Modem When I try using the Windows Network Diagnostics, it keeps coming back with the options that havent worked. The options are: - Plug a cable into the network adapter Local Area Connection - Automatically get new IP settings for the network adapter Wireless Network Connection - A problem with your network router or broadband modem might be preventing an Internet connection Note: I am always able to connect to the internet wherever free wi-fi is available. If a password is required all I need is to obtain it and enter it without making any changes in the system. This is the only time Ive had issues getting online, even though I have the password.
