View 1 Replies View RelatedI have read numerous postings on this and ather sites about the Atheros AR9285 not being able to see wireless networks - and guess what I have the same problem! My laptop is an HP CQ61-312SA upgraded to 4GB of ram, and running Windows 7 Home Premium, I have tried everything I can find on this and other forum sites with no luck at all, including updating drivers, making sure Wlan is started etc and I have downloaded programs like Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and Insider = both of which show absolutely nothing.I have one other problem that might indicate a software problem - on the odd occasion when my computer does try to connect to a wireless network it resets to a blue scree which states that it is doing a 'physical memorey dump' and then restarts. My Atheros card has worked perfectly for 2 years, but I managed to purchase another it case it was faulty - with the same results. I also upgraded the memory in case of a memory fault.Rolling back drivers and using system restore does not work and ipconfig/all gives identical readouts to others with this problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect to my wifi network at my home. I have a Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Card. I am using an Inspiron 1545 and operating Windows 7.My Router is a Linksys WRT54G. I looked through some old posts and this shows the results of IP Config test I ran:Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.Windows IP Configuration
Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : earthlink.net
[Code].....
Laptop Fujitsu with Wifi adapter : Atheros AR9285 , lastest driver v10.0.0.52 April 2012
Win 7 32bit pro WLC 6.0.196.0 and AP 1142 , associated in 802.11G or N WPA 2 preshared key.
WLC Roaming parameter : minimum RRSI -80dbm, roaming hysteresis 2dB, adaptive scan threshold -70dBm, transition time 5sec.
The laptops are supposed to be compatible with CCXv5 program, but in WLC (and two controllers CT-5508) the client is not seen as CCX client compatible !
So roaming is bad. Even with a very good and dense wifi coverage (no coverage hole detected), because the laptop still stay associated with a far AP (until -90dbm), instead of roaming with the nearests APs (-40dbm !!)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been having difficulty connecting to the internet at my new place, I'm starting to think that the network card I recently bought (D-Link DWA-552 XtremeN Desktop Adapter) might have a problem, but I am not sure. I am currently using my landlord's internet, so I don't have access to the router to turn it on and off, which Windows suggests doing constantly, but I don't think that's the problem because I have internet on all my other wireless devices (Phone, PS3, Xbox).I am able to see the router most times and connect to it, but I am unable to connect to the internet, the networking image in the bottom corner has a yellow warning sign. Also, after a certain amount of time, the wireless card is unable to detect any wireless signal, the networking image in the bottom corner has a red X through it. I disabled all networking interfaces besides the wireless card because of an error message that I thought may have been caused by it: "This computer is continuously switching between two or more wireless access points or routers", but disabling the other interfaces did nothing and the message still appears after troubleshooting.

This didn't last long - one day, the icon turned into a computer with a red x over it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows 7 Home premium SP1 (x86). I can connect fine and after a (seemingly random) amount of time the connection will drop (at least according to windows). I can also easily reconnect without a problem, but it will not pick back up the connection automatically, which is a problem because I use programs that need to access the internet and Often leave large files to download while I'm sleeping or not home. So If I'm not sitting at my computer to manually reconnect, then whatever i'm trying to accomplish doesn't get done.I'm using the ALFA AWUS036H USB wifi adapter. I had previously been running windows XP and this same thing would happen (though, much less often) but when it happened in XP it would automatically reconnect in a few seconds. I downloaded the drivers from ALFA's website incase the ones on disk were not up to date, and I tried both of them (they have a "normal" and "power control driver" option) and the problem remains. Also, I've never used an external wifi adapter before so I'm not sure if its supposed to work this way, but there are 2 "signal strength meters" in the system tray the standard windows one that you can click on and see available networks or go to windows "network and sharing center" and then there is the ALFA one that you can click on and it takes you to the ALFA wireless LAN utility, where you can also get a list of available networks.According to windows there is a problem with the connection, however according to the ALFA wireless LAN utility, the connection is fine (green bars means good connection, red bars means no connection)When clicking on the Windows "signal strength indicator" in the system tray, it shows 1 of 2 different problems (notice the differences that I've highlighted with red boxes). No matter which one happens I can NOT access the internet. Despite the "problems" shown above, the ALFA wireless LAN utility shows that its still connected (while windows is showing a connection problem)To reconnect I switch to the "profile" tab (which is just a list of neworks that i've previously connected to) and double click on the network. In this case it will be Enotria Public.... the same one that (according to the ALFA wireless LAN utility) I'm already connected too After clicking on the network, the ALFA wireless LAN utility "signal indicator" in the system tray will briefly turn red (signaling NO connection) while it "reconnects". Then it will turn back to green, and Windows network manager/signal indicator (whatever you call it) will proceed to reconnect as well. After this happens, all is good and I'm reconnected and can access the internet.
As you can see in pics above the ALFA wireless LAN utility is always connected, and it never drops the connection but even so, the internet will not work when Windows drops the connection. However, When reconnecting I can access the internet BEFORE Windows reconnects. (I still have to reconnect as described above, but after I do so I can access the internet before windows FINISHES reconnecting) The tab shown in this picture was a web page that I loaded BEFORE Windows ever reconnected, and it is a page that I have NEVER viewed before, so its not just loading it from cache.
