Recently I have been having problems on my home Wi-Fi connection. Every so often, I drop my connection. It happens many times during the day, and it is really starting to annoy me.On the Wi-Fi connection, are 3 other laptops than mine connected to. About 3 months ago, the problem began for me, only recently have the others also gotten the problem. As we stand now, we are all craving for an explanation.

My atheros ar9285 wireless network card continuously drops my connection, now I've seen other topics about this put there solutions dont work. I hear McAfee can cause problems? It is on a asus k5dij laptop and my wi-fi is provided by bt using a bt home hub 3 type b. Find attached my Xirrus screen shot and my cmd ipconfig when i learn how to get it on to this website.

I'm with Virgin Media and the router they give is rubbish. The wifi connection kept dropping. So, I bridged the router to a Linksys router. The wifi is nice and stable now. However, when connected via eternet to the linksys router, I've noticed that my download speeds are very spiky. I used to get a flat 4MB/s download (I have 30 Meg internet). Now it spikes heavyly and I roughly get 2.5MB/s. I've turned the Virgin Media router (which is a netgear inside) into modem mode and when trying to connect directly to the virgin media router, I won't pick up a connection. I assume I can only connect directly to the Linksys.

I recently added two Win7 computers to my ethernet network (one replaced an older computer, the other has brought the total to 4 machines). The original 2 workstations (XPpro) are fine, but the 2 new Win7 computers intermittently lose internet connection. They remain on the network, just lose internet. The 2 that are having the problem are wired directly to the first router, Linksys WRT160N. The 2 XP computers, that work perfectly, are wired 150 feet away, attached to a Linksys WRT54G used as an access point. The problem is much more severe on one of the new machines, with Win7 Home Deluxe - it stays offline about half of the time. The other, Win7 Pro, is occasionally waxed for 5 or ten minutes. Both use the Win7 default firewall & settings, I've added Avast free anti-virus but no additional firewall software. I have not noted any error messages other than the red X on the networking diagram, and the browser can't find page

I have two wifi routers which I have connected together with an ethernet cable to extend coverage across my house. The ethernet cable is connected to a LAN port on the first router and the internet port of the second router. This works fine and creates a second network that I can connect to the net on. The problem iseemingly randomly, about every 15 minutes, the second router will lose internet connection. My laptops and phone still stay connected to it, but windows lists it as having no internet connection. If I then wait a couple of minutes and reconnect, internet will be working again.

I have a desktop computer and a laptop computer both running Windows 7 Home Premium. The desktop is connected to the router directly and the laptop is connected to the wireless network. When I restart both computers, I can see and access the other computer through the home network without problems. But after a while, sometimes just a few minutes, I can only see the other computer but cannot access it. Sometimes, I cannot even see the other computer. If I do a "ipconfig /release" and a "ipconfig /renew", it may sometimes correct the problem for a while.
I have looked at many related discussions on the web and none of the suggestions work for me.I have the firewalls disabled on both computers, as well as the ipv6 and IP service. I have also disabled the Bonjour service.I have turned a number of services, such as computer browser, server, workstation and many others to automatic as people suggested.

* ADSL modem connected to internet
* WiFi router (Netgear WPN824v2) connected to ADSL modem
* CPU, iPhone and iPad connected to router, CPU wired connection.Everything has worked like a charm up until a couple of days ago. Now the link between the router WAN port and the modem randomly drops. Stays dropped for 1-3 secs and then connect again. When its really bad this happens with 5-10 secs intervall. This made it impossible to use the network from any of the devices. If I disconnect the CPU from the router and connect it direcly to the modem and change the IP settings to match the modem network the CPU connects without errors to the internet, iPad and iPhone connected to the router keeps having problems.Restarting the router does not change anything and it seems to be more frequent errors during heavy load hours, in the morning I have almost no problems at all, in the evenings I cant almost use the wireless devices (CPU works fine as its now connected directly to the modem not through the router).I havent changed a setting in the last year, it just came right out of the blue.I have hard reset both the modem and the router and reconfigured them (that I dont want to do again as I have some virtual servers, port forwards, port triggers and so on :P).As it came right out of the blue without me changing anything on any device and as it seems to be more frequent during heavy load hours I'm suspecting that the ISP is involved, but how can they be (it works fine with devices connected straight to the modem)?

I am using a brand new Linksys EA3500. We have 2 laptops connecting to it. One is an older XP machine which never has any problem. The other, a Vista machine, periodically drops the connection to the internet when connecting wirelessly. It never loses the connection to the Linksys EA3500 router, it just says "Access: local" and there is no internet. If I plug the Vista machine in wired to the router it works fine. I've tried my old router and I don't get this problem, which leads me to believe that my wireless adapter is functioning properly on the Vista machine.
When the vista machine drops the internet, I can still get into the router configuration at 192.168.1.1, but when I click on the tab which says wireless it sometimes says: "Router not found. You are not connected to your router." It says this despite the fact that I am connected to the router?I've tried reinstalling Windows, that didn't make any difference. I am convinced that it is a problem with the router, but I can't find any settings to adjust which remedy the situation. Of coarse, I've tried reseting my modem and Router many times...doesn't resolve the issue. I've also gone into DOS and done an ipconfig release_all and renew_all.

I've got a router in room where my cable modem comes in. In center of house, I have another router, N Ultra Range PLUS, WRT160N.
My laptop, which I use in front room near that middle room router and my husband's desktop, also near that middle room have no problems. My desktop which is right next to the main router in back of house (where the cable modem is), has the weakest signal. I guess that's because the WRT160N is further away from it and has two walls to go through. But most of time signal was good - just not as good as the other two computers. And even when signal was Low, it never dropped connection.
Recently I got a new smart phone with WIFI. Anytime I have turned on the phone and used it, I often then have to refresh my wireless signal or reboot computer because it loses the connection. I read somewhere on internet that this may be because of the additional device but again, it doesn't effect the other two closer computers.

It's a Windows 7 Pro 64bit machine with a (newly installed) Asus P8H67 pro motherboard and an Edimax ew-7612pln pci-e card, the router is a thompson 585v8 router with the latest firmware on (upgraded as part of troubleshooting). I upgraded the wireless card drivers one time whilst it was disconnected, it appeared to work for a few hours but then dropped again it also went through a phase of connecting to the router as an 'unidentified network' with no internet access although I don't believe it was attaining an IP address. When it was connected the internet was pretty slow and anything like a file down load would knock it off completely. There were no errors at the time of disconnection in the event log (bar a DNS error or two saying it could not locate the website I was trying to get to before it failed), however the only information type events I noted were a few services stopping and starting and an odd one regarding the host not being able to find the 'master browser' which was identified as another laptop on the wireless network.
The machines are not in the same work group or in a domain, all other laptops and devices on the network work fine and are very stable - as was this one up until a couple of weeks ago. I've uninstalled a couple of pieces of software that were recently installed ; VMware player (which added virtual NICs upon installation and funnily enough made the wireless reconnect after a few hours of downtime upon installation...but the effect was shortlived) and some asus mobo utilities.

I have Comcast cable internet routed through a linksys E3000 router. My desktop is connected to my router via ethernet and my various other devices including my laptop are wifi connected. It seems almost at random that my desktop will lose its connection.Windows will show me as still being connected and my network connection will show a normal status until I atttempt to repair it then it will change to limited or no connectivity. Through all of this, my other devices all still have a wifi signal (I don't use more than 1 or 2 at the same time). I can reconnect to the internet by unplugging my ethernet cable then reuplugging it back in and my connection will start working again. I've also had several blue screens, and when I checked the dmp files it revealed my network card driver as the culprit, yet I have reinstalled and even clean installed the microsoft signed driver. I have also attempted to reboot both my modem and router to no avail.

I've a Airtel Broadband connection with a Beetel WiFi Router. I've installed Windows Vista on my laptop. Though the network icon in the Task Bar shows that its connected I'm not able to connect to the internet. I've tried different browsers but failed. Also I've tried to ping websites in command prompt even that is not working. The connection works absolutely fine on my brother's Dell laptop hence I'm sure that there is no problem with the Router.
Here is the complete system configuration you would need to know. Dell Latitude D630 Laptop. Windows Vista 32bit OS. Beetel WiFi Router.

- removed saved network information from the laptop

My router is a Netgear WNDR3400 running the most recent firmware V1.0.0.16_1.0.34). This is a dual band router. The 5ghz band I have setup in WPA2-psk (AES). The 2.4ghz band I have as unprotected. The two computers I have issues on are both running XP-SP3. The first is a Dell Latitude d600 laptop. The 2nd is a box I put together myself, and uses a Trendnet TEW-423pi (Rev A) wireless card. Both are connecting to the 2.4ghz band. The computers will both connect just fine, but will occasionally drop the WIFI connection for a moment or two, and then reconnect again right away. On both computers, if I look in Event Viewer, i see a System listing under source "tcpip" saying:The system detected that network adapter DEVICETCPIP_{1EEC58ED-1570-4219-B200-8EC4F636910C} was disconnected from the network, and the adapter's network configuration has been released. If the network adapter was not disconnected, this may indicate that it has malfunctioned. Please contact your vendor for updated driversOn the diy-box, I see a slew of events relating to "The Wireless Zero Configuration service" stopping and starting up to 10 times back-and-forth in the same instant as a disconnection.
On the laptop, I do not have that same service listing, but I see a number of updater services (mostly google) doing the same flip-flopping a handful of times within the same second as the tcpip listing. Now, to throw a wrench in the mix, there are a slew of other devices (a printer, a pair of ipod touches, and two windows 7 boxes, plus a number of friends' computers and etc.) that connect regularly and stably on this same network. Both computers have the newest possible drivers.

I setup my new TL-WDR4300 and ran into no issues. For the sake of all my wireless users in the house, I set the SSID and password to the same as the previous router. From a wired perspective, I've seen no problems at all.
On my girlfriends laptop, she has an excellent signal and browses the internet for about a minute or two, then randomly she gets disconnected (yellow triangle warning in the tooltray). I've tried rebooting the modem, router, her laptop, and even disabling the dualband (to just 2.4ghz which she is on), but am still getting the problem. Any ideas? It was working perfectly with my old Linksys router this morning.

Ive been having an issue lately with my wireless connectivity at home. We recently moved and Im using a V1000H from telus for my wireless network. Wired connections are fine but wirelessly my connection keeps dropping every few minutes for a few minutes and then comes back on its own. However I only have 1 laptop to test with and my cell phone which doesnt seem to be exhibiting the same problem as my laptop. I've tried formatting the laptop twice with 32 and 64bit windows and it still happens. ive tried many drivers and tried to disable any power management options that the laptop has and the wireless nic has.
Ive changed the channel on my wifi and the security as well but no luck. It was working the first day we had it setup just fine and then the next day it started dropping. The signal strength is always 4-5 bars as im just in the next room from my wifi. Ive also tried using a dlink router as an access point and disabling the wifi on the v1000h but had the same issue. Also the laptop im using is a sony vgn-ns330d with windows 7 32bit atm but i was previously using 64bit. The wireless nic is Atheros AR928x 10.0.0.75

For a few weeks now, my router has been dropping WiFi connections, seemingly at random. When trying to watch BBC iPlayer is terrible, as it keeps dropping every 5 minutes.
Tonight my iPod Touch (iOS5) was connecting okay, while my son's iPod Touches (iOS3 and iOS4) would not. My MacBook Pro would not connect either.
The only to get things working again, is to turn the router off for a few minutes and turn it on again.
I have router wireless settings as follows:
Network Mode: mixed
Radio Band: Wide - 40MHz channel
Wide Channel: 9
Standard Channel: 7 - 2.442GHz
SSID: Disabled
Router Firmware Version:V2.00.20
My wired connection is running well:

I recently bought an alienware mx14 laptop last week and i am having some strange issues with the Ethernet card. The connection seems to drop from time to time at random periods, altough wireless works fine, the wired connection just loses connectivity for brief moment. The only way i notice this if, i am streaming something and it just stops the buffer or if am at the lobby of League of Legends and get timed out or, any http transfer gets cut out.I have an atheros card and w7 64bits installed with the latest drivers from Dell and have uninstalled and reinstalled them a couple of times, and they seem to work for a couple of hours , after a while getting back to the some problem.
