Zte Zxv10 W300 / Pc On Wifi Network Makes All Others Lag?
Oct 19, 2012
wireless connection of my router, which is a ZTE ZXV10 W300 provided by my ISP. Me and my brother have our PCs on the same room and have decent signal at all times. The problem is that when my sister connects her netbook to the network wifi becomes unusable for us. I mean normally ping to the router from my pc is 1ms and when she connects it will get to the thousands or even time out. My sisters netbook has an atheros 9285 card, and the other two computer have a d-link n adapter, and a us robotics g adapter. I have tried multiple configurations such as b/g or b/g/n, with wpa or wpa2 but the problem persists. I checked my sisters netbook for viruses thouroughly, with malwarebytes, microsoft security essential +2-3 other antiviruses and none found anyhting. I also updated her driver to the latest i found. I am getting desperate here, and i do wish i wont have to buy another router. Just to clarify the problem is not internet speed, should be able to handle (and used to be) 5-6 computers at once, it is the connection to the router itself.

I have a problem with my internet connection. It started some weeks ago and i called my ISP , they checked my phone line and they said that everything is working correctly. They said that the problem might be my router.I bought a new router ( ZTE ZXV10 W300 V5.2 ) but the problem persists. I changed all the cables tried using the internet without any telephone device connected to my phone line , i changed antivirus program ( from norton to avast ) It just wont stop dropping! My ISP told me that the problem might be a program from my computer.Note that the connection mostly drops when im playing online games but it drops when im surfing too.By the way, can the reason of the internet drops be a virus? url...[code]

I work in a school department and wanted to hardwire two computers in my class using a workgroup switch. I only had one data port in my class. The tech guy told me the switch could cause the entire network to crash. Is that true? I thought a switch was just a passthrough device.

I recently hooked my router up to my cable modem and was disappointing to find my internet connection halved or worse. Here's all the relevant information I could think of.
Cable internet through JCOM (in Japan)
Router: WRT54GL V1.1
Modem: Motorola SURFboard SB6180
I have tried disabling the firewall on the router and adjusting the MTU. Both had zero affect.
Is there a possibility that installing a homebrew firmware like dd-wrt?

do you think there would be a visible (or negligible) difference in internet speed if I used a hardware firewall as opposed to the router's inbuilt firewall? So assuming that all switches/ports were Gigabit Ethernet compatible (including the firewall itself), would it be a better idea to turn off the router/modem's firewall and use the hardware firewall, or would it be best to just stick with the router firewall? The reasoning behind this is that I'm not a big fan of Netgear... or their firewall system. After recent DDoS attacks (and IP address changes), I've decided to put a computer that was lying around to good use - Use it as a (Linux) firewall. iptables, here we come. - Yes, the Netgear router (CVG824G) has died a few times. Probably going to get upgraded to a NG CG3000, which uses (more or less) the same firewall system, I assume.

Yesterday I was on my cousin's computer, and we had to remove the ethernet cord to connect it to mine as my wireless adapter wasn't cooperating with his internet. This was all fine and dandy until we had to plug the ethernet cord back into his computer. It locks everything up. If you try to open a program, it won't open. If a program is already open when the cord is plugged in, it stops responding within 15 seconds.I called my brother, and he suggested I run a virus scan via Microsoft Security Essentials and MalwareBytes, which I did. MalwareBytes found 5 problems, MSE found 1 additional one. They have all been removed, however this problem still persists. If you try to start the computer with the ethernet cord plugged in, it will allow him to put in his password, it will say welcome for about 3-5 minutes, then the screen will go black. The mouse is visible, doing it's motion to indicate that it's loading something, but it never achieves anything.

My router makes a clicking noise once in awhile.
I thought it might be other peripherals in my setup, but it is definitely the router. It sounds like it over heats at times and is the type of 'click' that is expanding or contracting.

My internet speed is 15 Mbps. I have another desktop and laptop. None of them have the problem. What settings I have to change to get back to speed I used to have before.I messed up some settings on the Cisco Connect and accidentally reset the router. After re-installing the router the problem started.

I can't get utube videos when I'm going through the router. I can get them if I'm on the modem only. The same applies to long PDFs, software updates, long virus definition updates, videos in general and graphics heavy websites. It just slows down eventually to a standstill and the download fails. As stated when the router is not connected the above items pop up or download reasonably quickly through the modem. We have moderate speed DSL.

I saw one post recommending to changing the MTU from 1500 to 1400. That did absolutely nothing. My comcast internet is now slower than 14.4 dial up modem I had 16 years ago. The strange thing is I can sometimes download at over 2 mbps with torrents. It's mainly loading websites where the speed is so bad.

I seem to be struggling to connect more than 4 cameras to my (ISP-supplied) modem/router by Netgear CGD24N via WPS. I'm on my 5th camera now (already have 3x 930L and 1x 942L) but the newest 942L just won't connect to the network at the moment and there's definitely no faults here as I swapped cameras today at the local retailer (and got an A3 942L!).I've even tried connecting the camera to my wireless extender (Netgear WN3000RP) but no luck there.
So far it has only worked twice for short periods of time (enough for me to configure the cameras) but since then I can't actually get it working. I've got a couple of spare wireless routers lying around too and should be receiving a DIR-600 soon (from the Netgear promotion in Australia) which could be useful?
