Broadband :: Cannot Get Computer To Access A Web Page

For the past week my computer will not open a web page. I've done everything that I can think to and nothing has worked. I finally reformatted my computer today and still the problem exists. So, I've continued to try and figure it out, but have been completely unsuccessful. I have been able to pull up a partial web page by typing in the IP address. All things point to a DNS issue and even the Network Diagnostics tool indicates that.

The problem i am experiencing is that on my home network i have been using for several years now one computer on my network suddenly cannot get online..however it can connect. They determined that all is working well and all settings are as they should be. I then contacted my ISP, Cox communications and was essentially told the same thing. This is after going through several tests with each, such as ping tests, turning the gateway off/on, reviewing settings such as TCP/IP, DNS, etc, etc. The findings were that i have IP addresses and everything else that should be there. Ive turned off the firewall, disabled antivirus, reset tcp/ip stack and winsock. I have been working on this for two days and after paying for it still do not have it fixed. The computer acts as it normally does, no other problems except that when i press the IE icon to open a browser window it tries to go to my homepage, google, but then reverts to the "page cannot be displayed screen". This computer is running XP SP2 and is a wired connection(although it was wireless when i first experienced the problem because i have a network adapter installed as well..but i disabled it and enabled my LAC and used the ethernet cable because this is one of the exercises cisco ahd me perform to see if i could connect wired/wirelessly.. better bandwidth anyway at 100mbps compared to the 56mbps with the wireless-g adapter). The othe computer is a laptop running windows 7.

I live in a house of about 30 tenants. The place uses a cisco WRVS4400N router. It seems that my computer gets assigned a temporary ip automatically and then there will be times when I get "kicked out" and my computer doesn't get connected to the internet. Sometimes for few minutes and sometimes for hours.
No idea what happens there but could be that there are no ips left to assign to my computer and someone else gets the ip address.Anyway I'm trying to find out if I can configure my computer with a static ip.
The maximum number of dhcp users was changed from 50 to 100 by me. IDK if that means that I can assign a static ip from 1 to 100 but say I pick a number 160 so the ip would be xxx.xxx.x.160.
1. What are the steps I have to undertake to configure my computer on the router page? What info. do I have to modify?
2. After I modify settings on the router page, do I have to change settings on my computer?

when i was on the computer last night, i noticed someone else's address at the upper right hand corner nest to "sign in". The person's address was Jaydogwalker45@yahoo.com. I also noticed a green circle next to the address, so i clicked it and i had the option of signing him out, so i did.

Have a computer running windows xp. Whenever I plug in my internet cable it says 'Acquiring Network Address'. I have left it for over and hour but it still says the same thing. I have connected other computers to the router with the same cable and they work perfectly. I have also tried channging the linkspeed for the network connection, renewing my ip address, repairing the network connection and disabling and enabling the connection.

I have a new router (ASUS RT-N10)and It is asking me to direct connect my cable modem to my computer, and then find my MAC address via command prompt, and clone it to the new router.I can get to my command prompt, the problem lies in windows 7 and vista's (or mine) inability to realize that my network card is directly connecting to the modem. (No internet connection available, doesn't think anything is connected). I have tried on multiple machines to try and find my modem's mac address but it simply is not working.I want to know if I can find the mac address through the old router, or what I need to do to have windows 7 recognize I'm directly connecting the modem to the PC.

My desktop computer hangs when i use internet linked software like Mozilla and internet explorer. When i got hang i can't do anything but to press the restart on my CPU. But i can access only in Yahoo messenger and skype. It's really weird, I've been using it for a long time but i just only encountered it now. ok so my moms computer (compaq fs7600) had vista an it went nuts so i wiped it an installed xp pro. Everything went fine but now it wont connect to the internet =/. I cannot access the configuration page for wifi router... my wifi router is buffalo WHR-G300NI usually access the page via 192.168.11.1but since I have plugged the wire from the internet socket on the wall to LAN port rather than WAN port and disable the DHCP , I cannot access the configuration page and I cannot change these because the ISP told me to do in order to access the internetIs there any other way to access the configuration page?if there isn't, how can I access to the configuration page

So i can't access my Facebook page i log on it fine at school & I used google chrome & safari, & internet explorer and every time i log on it says SSL Error & it also says that "you attempted to reach www.facebook.com, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as *.vkontakte.ru this may be cause by a misconfiguration on the server", idk what to do. I did everything, cleaned it for viruses and checked the proxy & everything.

when I got my new computer, I couldn't access the login or registration page of the site. I try accessing it through my cellphone or through a different computer or device (iPads etc.) nd it works just fine... basically, it's not the site's problem, it's most likely in my computer's settings.

It usually consists of installing routers in units. Occasionally I have to change the routers IP address to keep it from conflicting with other routers. To do so, I need to get to the router options to do that. Normally, typing in 192.168.0.1 gets me there with no problems. Sometimes it's a 10.0.10.1. (They have D-Link DIR-615 routers.) To make sure I know which address I need, I use the cmd and ipconfig /all. Some of the routers spit out an IPV6 address instead of the IPV4 that I need to access the router. Even after a factory reset, it still does this. I can't get in to change anything.

I get disconnected from my ADSL2+ connection now and then and it is starting to irritate my a lot so I want to investigate the problem, but I can't access my modem config page. The modem is a Zhone 1511-A1 and the default ip is 192.168.1.1. I tried to reset the modem to isp configs and it did not work. When I ping my address it says "TTL expired in transit".
