Aug 23, 2011i'm having an issue with a computer on my home network (Windows XP Professional SP3, latest updates) where i can't access the Internet or even the router on my home network (which it is part of).if i look at the network connection (wired) under control panel it shows as connected, and it's set with a static IP address (always has been), so nothing looks out of the ordinary there, yet if i try opening Internet Explorer i just get the "page cannot be displayed" page, and i can't even ping my own router- request times out.I've tried connecting a wireless adapter that i use on my laptop every day.. it connects to the wireless network no problem, but still the same results with IE and pinging the router.

We receive 'The page cannot be displayed'.I have no idea why because all other sites work okay!Note: The Intranet can be accesed from home and libraries as I have checked aswel as 2 offices we have, everything works fine.It's just the one office and everything else works fine.

Mar 3, 2011The problem i am experiencing is that on my home network i have been using for several years now one computer on my network suddenly cannot get online..however it can connect. They determined that all is working well and all settings are as they should be. I then contacted my ISP, Cox communications and was essentially told the same thing. This is after going through several tests with each, such as ping tests, turning the gateway off/on, reviewing settings such as TCP/IP, DNS, etc, etc. The findings were that i have IP addresses and everything else that should be there. Ive turned off the firewall, disabled antivirus, reset tcp/ip stack and winsock. I have been working on this for two days and after paying for it still do not have it fixed. The computer acts as it normally does, no other problems except that when i press the IE icon to open a browser window it tries to go to my homepage, google, but then reverts to the "page cannot be displayed screen". This computer is running XP SP2 and is a wired connection(although it was wireless when i first experienced the problem because i have a network adapter installed as well..but i disabled it and enabled my LAC and used the ethernet cable because this is one of the exercises cisco ahd me perform to see if i could connect wired/wirelessly.. better bandwidth anyway at 100mbps compared to the 56mbps with the wireless-g adapter). The othe computer is a laptop running windows 7.

I have all the correct wireless settings, IP address, etc. I have tried to connect by ethernet and then internet works fine. I have done a million different troubleshooting steps. I have other computers using the same router and they all work fine. The laptop that is not connecting is an Inspiron 1501 and it is windows Vista. My internet suport it must be in my Laptop.

Jan 31, 2007I have a custom webauth page installed that I am using with web passthrough authentication on my WLC2006 in order to put up a acceptable use policy page. The WLC uses HTTPS to display this which causes a security certificate warning to appear if I go with the WLC's own self-signed certificate. Is there a way I can get the WLC to use plain HTTP to display this page instead so I can eliminate the warning? I have already tried installing a trusted 3rd party certificate on the WLC, but I have this very strange problem where mucking with the WLC's web authentication certificate in any manner causes all network activity on the WLC to break except for CDP and ARP, essentially leaving the WLC dead. Three weeks of troubleshooting with Cisco TAC has yielded no progress on that front so now I am trying to bypass the need for a security certificate altogether since I really don't need to encrypt my acceptable use policy page.

Oct 3, 2011For the past weeks, I've been experiencing NOT to able to 'access' Home Page on daily basis. It occurs exactly 'once a day,' often early morning but sometime even in the middle of night. For this to resolve, I need to unplug a black cable connecting to Router and plug back in to 're-start' Internet connection. This pattern happens after having replaced a brand new modem and router, saying a Modem has an issue diagosed through the phone of my ISP.
With an older modem, however this, .... 'disconnection once a day' never occured. The tech guy told me 'signal' is OK, but there are 'too many computers' in my household. However, my ISP, Comcast allows us to use 5 different PCs, then the tech. guy's diagnose did not correspond to this at all.
As to 'multiple PCs,' we, the family never use more than 3 PCs/Internet at a time. Most of time, we use only two PCs for surfing and e-mailing/photoes. Two other PCs are a sort of 'back-up' puposes ONLY.

300Mbps Wireless N ADSL2+ Modem Router (Annex B) TD-W8961NB I use a WIRED connection, not wireless.
When I type in the IP adress into my IE adress bar (192.168.1.1), it says it cannot connect to the internet.

When I try connecting to it, it appears connected like a normal wireless network -except without the bell sound that I get form my wireless card software when the connection is successful-. However, web pages cannot be displayed nor can I update any software, and it is as if there is no internet connection at all. Actually, I have used my neighbor's wireless internet for a long time before the occurrence of this problem, and I can connect to any other open wireless network without any problems. Do you think that my neighbor has changed something in the settings of his wireless network to prevent me from accessing it? What should I do in order to solve this problem from my laptop?

Aug 17, 2011It usually consists of installing routers in units. Occasionally I have to change the routers IP address to keep it from conflicting with other routers. To do so, I need to get to the router options to do that. Normally, typing in 192.168.0.1 gets me there with no problems. Sometimes it's a 10.0.10.1. (They have D-Link DIR-615 routers.) To make sure I know which address I need, I use the cmd and ipconfig /all. Some of the routers spit out an IPV6 address instead of the IPV4 that I need to access the router. Even after a factory reset, it still does this. I can't get in to change anything.

May 14, 2012I have a home LAN. It has a Linux server with a website that I'm building. I can access the website from the LAN side, but not from the WAN side. I have port 80 open on the router and to the static IP of the server. I know the WAN IP of the router and I keep it connected so that doesn't change.From the WAN side I can access the server's Apache default web page via the IP in the URL as "http://a.b.c.d" but I can't get at the website. I tried "a.b.c.d/abc.com", "a.b.c.d/abc", and " a.b.c.d/ www.abc.com" but all I get is 404 - Not found.what is the proper URL syntax that let's me get at that website?

May 13, 2012I am having a problem accessing my router settings page. everything was working fine and then all of a sudden my desktop couldn't get internet but all the laptops could so I tried everything power cycling the everything changing the Ethernet cable and I got nothing. So then I hard reset my router and erased all the settings and now it works so I have internet just fine and right away after I hard reset I could access my router settings page and input all of my settings like DNS servers and port forwarding and changing my SSID etc. but now every time I try and go to it it just won't I don't even get the login prompt nothing. So why I can't access this page. Here is a copy of my ipconfig /all. Also when I ping 192.168.0.1 I have no packet loss.
Edit:I have gotten it to work in IE I have to go to HTTPS://192.168.0.1 and then click go to site anyways after it gives me a warning about the certificate being invalid and I have to allow it or whatever otherwise it won't bring up the login prompt. Also the same thing is happening for FF so I need to go to https://192.168.0.1 and click I understand the risks and add exception for it to work.

Linksys Won't Allow Access To Router Page
Apr 17, 2011I have a linksys router, Its at my sisters house. her son is trying to hook up his Xbox to it. The router will not allow me to access the router page, ( I called them and walked them through it). I reset the linksys router, by holding the reset button in for 45 seconds. Then I access the router page by going to 192.268.1.1 Windows gives me a popup to log in, What I find on the internet for a default login is the user name is blank and the password is admin. OR the both the user name and password is admin. However it still will not let me into the router page.
I am wondering if the login popup is something with the windows settings. As when I had the router here at my house, I think It just went to the webpage of the router and thats where it asked me for the user name and password. I do not recall the popup login window before the router page. Is there something to turn off to set it so that windows does not give a popup to login and goes to the webpage to login?
