Broadband :: Internet Cuts Out Regularly?
Jul 10, 2011My internet cuts out every half hour for a few minutes. I have had this problem through two routers. I use a cable to connect my computer to my router. I have another comuter connected via a wire and wireless devices.

Apr 29, 2012I don't think it's my PC, because I tried using the Ethernet cord on my laptop, and got the same error "limited or no connectivity..." When I try to troubleshoot on my PC, it says the modem is fine. All the lights are green on the modem. I did notice that I have an IP address, but no Gateway Address. Also, I'm sending few packets, but receiving even fewer.Is it safe to say that this is a modem issue? Or something else? Is there anything that can be done? -resetting the modem did not work.

Oct 24, 2011I have updated drivers or roll them back. Under computer, I right clicked on computer, then it shows like of hardware. Then I looked at date on driver and tried to update past june 27, 2006 or to roll many back . This increased my online speed but I could not get all drivers past that 2006 date & year, my computer thinks its the most updated version. It is not. This inability to change them or update still causes windows vista to be slower while operating. I guess I could buy the fix offered on web but I feel I shouldn't have to when I know the problem that microsolft built in. To bad microsoft isn't forth coming with an answer.

Jul 13, 2011I have tried everything I can think of but since purchasing my 615-N router from DLink, I haven't been able to get online via wireless internet from another computer in this apartment. The router seems to be working fine - I have a LAN connection through it to this computer I'm on now and the PS3 hooked up to the wireless signal just fine. It is the one desktop computer though. The only thing I can think of is that I am using an old g adapter. I didn't think this would matter because the N router can supposedly communicate with g and b devices.

Mar 3, 2011The problem i am experiencing is that on my home network i have been using for several years now one computer on my network suddenly cannot get online..however it can connect. They determined that all is working well and all settings are as they should be. I then contacted my ISP, Cox communications and was essentially told the same thing. This is after going through several tests with each, such as ping tests, turning the gateway off/on, reviewing settings such as TCP/IP, DNS, etc, etc. The findings were that i have IP addresses and everything else that should be there. Ive turned off the firewall, disabled antivirus, reset tcp/ip stack and winsock. I have been working on this for two days and after paying for it still do not have it fixed. The computer acts as it normally does, no other problems except that when i press the IE icon to open a browser window it tries to go to my homepage, google, but then reverts to the "page cannot be displayed screen". This computer is running XP SP2 and is a wired connection(although it was wireless when i first experienced the problem because i have a network adapter installed as well..but i disabled it and enabled my LAC and used the ethernet cable because this is one of the exercises cisco ahd me perform to see if i could connect wired/wirelessly.. better bandwidth anyway at 100mbps compared to the 56mbps with the wireless-g adapter). The othe computer is a laptop running windows 7.

Jan 20, 2011For the past week my computer will not open a web page. I've done everything that I can think to and nothing has worked. I finally reformatted my computer today and still the problem exists. So, I've continued to try and figure it out, but have been completely unsuccessful. I have been able to pull up a partial web page by typing in the IP address. All things point to a DNS issue and even the Network Diagnostics tool indicates that.

Apr 5, 2011I'm running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit on a Dell Inspiron 1545, using a wireless connection with a Verizon FIOS router and service, and for the past several months or so, my internet speed will just halt from time to time. It's not a sudden stop either, I'll be able to inform people I'm talking with that it's happening, and soon I'm unable to download or upload any information from anywhere. I'm signed out of instant messengers, disconnected from servers, and I can't load webpages.The downtime will last anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, and it will gradually return. No torrenting is going on, no downloads are happening anywhere on my network (as far as I know), I just have to wait it out. From time to time, there are even two in a row, having a few seconds of internet access before it's gone again.
I've included screen captures of some tracerts I've done during this 'lag spike' thing. I actually apparently time out to my own router. I honestly didn't think that was even possible.I have plenty of HDD space, no processes begin taking up incredible amounts of memory, everything looks as though it should be working fine. No other computers on my network have this issue, neither the wired one or the wireless ones. Disconnecting and reconnecting to my router during these times will not stop it, I will reconnect and still be unable to access the internet.I can't seem to find any solution for it. My antivirus programs don't find anything, and nothing else is happening that leads me to believe it's some form of malware, though I definitely won't rule that out.
Download Cuts Out After Few Seconds?
Jan 25, 2011first I couldn't even connect the thing to the internet, now every time I try to download something, like a youtube clip, patch for a game or even a tiny download the speed seems to crap out and then slow to absolutely nothing after just 2 or 3 seconds.. also sometimes I can't even connect to my router with 192.168.2.1, the page is just blank, half to disconnect router and reconnect.. Some days I can't even download a website without having to constantly refresh the page.for a youtube video if I just keep refreshing the page it downloads a part at a time till it gets the entire thing.. My internet speed is around 15 MB/s, before the download quits the speed is always fast..
