In a house that is too large for a small wireless modem to send a signal far enough, is it possible to use a second modem in the same phone line (not at the same time). Filters are used in the spare phone jacks.My main question is: when modem A is being used and modem B is switched off, is it necessary for the splitter for modem B to be removed and the filter put in its place? Or is the fact that modem B is switched off sufficient? I suspect that it's necessary and that's why my friend gets very slow download speeds even when the other modem is off.She insists that it used to work but I think she was just lucky if it used to work.
Our church has 1 phone line, we run BTBusiness Broadband at one of the building where we have a couple of charities based. We have the phone line connected to an extension at the other end (where the Church is) >80m away. Any way of running a second concurrent router on the extension so I can set up an office with a VOIP number, pC's printers etc there too? We use Devolo ethernet over mains and wireless for the main building, but the church itself is on a completely seperate mains power supply so I can't use that. I could run 100m Cat 5 and locate a switch on that, but any way of achieving something similar over the phone cable which is already in place.
I have a broadband router (Linksys E1000) which I've flashed with a DD-WRT firmware. After doing so I realized that this router doesn't have an interface for ADSL port(RJ-11). How can I use the Linksys E1000 for my home network?
I've heard that I can use ADSL modem(not a router) & plug the RJ-11 to it & take from it the Ethernet & plug it back to the E1000(in the WAN port) would that mean that I can get just a modem and not a hybrid?
Note: Also, I have to mention that my ISP is using PPPoA & DD-WRT is not supporting it, but i googled & they said that the ADSL modem cab be the rescue. Can I pick any ADSL modem for this specific scenario or am I looking at a specific model?
Secondly, can I use my old router to do the job instead of buying a new ADSL modem ? & is it a good approach ? or should i buy a new ADSL modem ?
Update i turned my DD-WRT router(E1000) to act as access point, since this is the only way that i can use it with the DD-WRT feature. & i think this is better than have nothing :) I can now have the DD-WRT functions ;)
1.I want to have a seperate Broadband line for a Server running TS for certain users to log into to.
2. I want another broadband line that is split via switch for other users and servers.
Reason: Speed up connection for TS users so that are on a dedicated line.
How will I get TS Server to speak with my Main File server to access the files they need and there is 1 folder both networks should have access to?
TS server and Main server in Same building. Don't want to use a WAN routers to connect the 2 routers together. My Broadband (According to speedtest.net = 12Mbps DL/ 0.80Mbps UL)
I can not get onto the internet via dial up. The message says that I have no dial tone. Using the same line, I get a dial tone on the phone. I can get onto the internet via a DSL connection, but it will not make a connection when I have a telehone line inserted in the phone line jack. This problem started after the power went off and on quickly two times. I have followed all the instructions that I have found to reset the modem, but to no avail. Is it possible that the phone line jack needs to be replaced.I have a gateway laptop with Vista program.
Half of the time i have to stay at hotel due to business trip. The hotel i stay will provide free internet broadband with cable but no WIFI. Can i set up WIFI if i have router?

I need to change providers from Verizon to AT&T. This modem came with the AT&T Sim card installed in my notebook. The software (Dell Mobile Broadband Utility Help) says " Choose Network Selection from the Settings Menu. Select AT&T and click Load." Unfortunately, Network selection is not an option.
How do I do it? This modem is compatible with Verizon, AT&T and Sprint networks.
My daughter is 10,000 miles from home taking classes in South Africa and her laptop is having issues! She can connect fine via wifi at the local internet cafe and it works just fine....but from her flat she has to connect wifi first then sign into broadband. She can get the wifi connection but her modem just sits there saying dialing and never gets anywhereWe have tried updating the modem driver to no avail, there is no static IP set up in her network connections, modem status says its ok.

The DSL network is also DHCP through WIN2K3 and ISA also installed i.e. using a proxy.My question is "is it possible to connect these two network through some process or router that the people can use either of them using a single NIC.
The building Im in currently has Broadband fitted but was at a very low speed, I phoned my provider (SKY) who boosted the line but said we should be getting full speed as we are really close to the exchange.I live in a large building with 5 other people all using the net/xboxes. The guy at SKY pointed out that we were maybe not plugged into the main phone port. This was new to me as I assumed all phone lines into a building were evenly matched. I then searched the whole building and found (what I think to be as it has a dividing line like he mentioned on the front plate) the main phone port into the building. Unfortunately its on the very top floor.
I would like to know how broadband Internet and cable tv are turned on and off for things like non payment?,How is that if the Internet is turned off for say non payment one still has full cable services? Or if cable is turned off but Internet is still on one can still receive the lower channels 23 and under? I have been inside of the cable service locations for say the house and my block with a service tech when they replace my bad Cable but I did not see any server points that could turn off individual address! so I am curious asto how all of this works?
Im having problems connecting my broadband to the internet, when I press the "Connect" button here is what pops up;
Quote:
The modem (or other connecting device) is already in use or is not configured properly.I've tried doing;
1. Tried installing the software+driver to other laptops and it works fine.
2. Tried changing different modems and installed the required driver but ends up not able press the "Connect" button at all.
3. Tried Uninstall/Reinstall the software/Driver.
4. Disable/Enable driver from Device Manager.
5. Tried Doing a Recovery system but fortunately the recovery system goes as far back the first time I've tried installing this device.
6. Tried disabling Anti-Virus
7. Tried installing old version of Mobile Partner but it seems like it didnt detect the device and a pop-ups saying "Failed to find Port" when installing Mobile Partner 2.3 .This laptop used this broadband before 1-2 months ago.
