I would like to know how broadband Internet and cable tv are turned on and off for things like non payment?,How is that if the Internet is turned off for say non payment one still has full cable services? Or if cable is turned off but Internet is still on one can still receive the lower channels 23 and under? I have been inside of the cable service locations for say the house and my block with a service tech when they replace my bad Cable but I did not see any server points that could turn off individual address! so I am curious asto how all of this works?
Half of the time i have to stay at hotel due to business trip. The hotel i stay will provide free internet broadband with cable but no WIFI. Can i set up WIFI if i have router?
So, I currently have a Toshiba Satellite, L550 Series, and in the new year, my battery started becoming loose in the charging spot, so I turned my computer off for the night to save power, and went out the following day. When I turned my computer back on, it started to say that I had no internet connection available, and when I tried to troubleshoot, instead of working like it normally does, it said I needed to plug in an ethernet cable, which I don't use at all.So, I decided to look around my Network and Connections page, and when I clicked the link called "See Full Map", instead of seeing what I normally see (which is my computer, my brothers computer, and my sisters computer, then the internet router) I only saw a sentence along the lines of "The adapter needs to be plugged in".
My HP laptop (Windows Vista, 4-5 five years old) has started to malfunction. I cannot connect to the router attached to my PC. The message tells me that the wireless capability is turned off. It says "Turn on wireless capability - this can be done by using as switch which can usually be found on side of computer or a function key combination." I can find no switch on my laptop, and don't know how which function key combination to press.
the wireless capability says it is turned off, however the switch for wireless is on, and I heard that it might be in powerdown mode, do you know where on a dell this can be changed or the wireless capability turned
whenever my pc (the only pc in my apartment) is turned on, my modem disconnects and will not reconnect until it is shut off. My pc is connected to a wireless n-series router.
If I have anything else connected to the network (anything being my Xbox 360, or my smartphone) and I turn on/wake up my computer, the entire network crashes and I have to power cycle the router and modem in order to get it to work again. What would even cause this? I often forget to turn off the wifi on my smartphone before I turn on the computer, which results in a lot of very tedious power cycling. It's also frustrating if I'm playing some vidya on the 360 and my wife gets on the computer, resulting in me getting kicked off and her unable to even do what she wanted to do in the first place.
The stranger part is that if I have my computer already on, and I turn on the 360/smartphone, it works fine. So there's something going wrong in the process of my computer connecting to the network, I guess. I have set a static IP, and I also made sure to turn off the energy saving feature of my wifi card, but neither of those things solved the problem.
Whenever my main PC is turned on, i get no signal from the wireless, like i cannot use my phone or laptop on the internet i use an ethernet cable which is direclty connected to my main PC my windows is also window XP and my modem model is TG782T only if my pc is turned off the wireless works
My computer the theme of my laptop changed and a lot of programs have now shut off it has now been 30 minutes and I have turned on all the programs that was needed i did ant virus scan and nothing came up, how do i turn my wifi back on? its not my modem cause i manually connected it to the laptop and its working fine and if it was my modem I would still get to see the other connections in my housing area.
I have here a HP Pavilion g6 running Windows 7 with quite a strange issue. Once the wireless is turned on common programs e.g. Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer etc. stop responding. What I've tried:Scanning for viruses with Malwarebytes - None found Reinstalling the wireless driver Refreshing the network stack?
My NIC card started flashing last night. The computer was turn off, and the network cable to the cable modem was unplugged. Also, I installed some free software that day and wonder if there is a connection.
I have the Asus RT-N12 and at my old apartment it was set as my router. I now have moved and have roommates who already have a router in use. I want to use the repeater function of this router but when I follow the instructions given by asus I hit a wall. They say to switch to repeater mode, plug it into a client on the network, and then launch quick installation setup by opening an internet browser. Unfortunately when I use a wired connection to the old router I cannot even navigate the internet because my computer is interpreting it as being hard wired to the router for my old network. is there a way to factory reset the monitor?
I recently bought an Asus Rt-n56u router to replace a netgear that bit the dust. I have three xbox 360's connected wirelessly to the network, that me and my roommates typically use simultaneously. When any one of us turns off our xbox, we completely lose the internet. Sometimes it comes back in a few minutes, and other times we have to reset the modem and the router to get it back. I emailed ASUS and got suggestion to try port forwarding, without real clear instructions on what to do.
my internet connection drops out as soon as i power on my desktop. i have tried with 3 seperate modems my original modem a brand new modem and a mates modem and all 3 show the same problem when the desktop is off the internet connection is fine, i was wondering if this is just an EM surge
I consider myself very technical and with pretty good knowledge of networking and routers, but I was baffled today. I was doing some testing and had a Firefox browser open with Pandora playing some music. I decided to reboot my router and much to my amazement, after pulling the power plug on the router, Pandora kept playing music as if nothing happened! It went on to play the entire 6 minute song then stopped when it attempted to go to the next song in the play list.I must admit I don't understand this. Even if it has something to do with a networking protocol I don't understand, the router is still needed for the physical (Ethernet wire) connections from my PC to the router and then ultimately through the cable modem to the internet. Of course, I did NOT turn off the cable modem--just the router.
I am connected to unencrypted wireless, firewall turned off. My dropbox will sync and if I open IE I can access www.microsoft.com [very slowly] but so far that is all. Chrome wont open anything - just says proxy server problem. If I run diagnose from IE it say my connection is fine. I have AVG free software. I do get a error from totalnetguard when I boot up that says it can't log on. If I use my aircard direct on the computers usb slot and connect that way everything works fine.
He has a Linksys wireless router installed. He only uses the router for use with lap top for the wireless convenience around the house. The desktop PC is Ethernet wired;.
When both laptop and PC are shut off, and then he, in another room turns on the laptop, the Desktop PC start up all by itself.
Is there a setting on either of these PC or router that need adjustment?
Upon turning on the computer, the wireless will not connect. It seems to not recognize the configuration of the wireless. I have to go in and put in the key every time... and then there are times that it says "limited or no connectivity". We just had a new router/modem installed in our network just yesterday. This router/modem is in conjunction with cable tv difficulties we were having.
My Inspiron 1750 runs Window 7 with Dell wireless 1397 WLAN mini card installed. It suddenly now cannot get internet nor network connection. The troubleshooting says WIRELESS CAPABILITY TURNED OFF. How can I turn it on and keep it always on?
