Dell :: Inspiron 1545 Model PPHL / Wireless Capability Switch Is Turned Off
Apr 30, 2012I have a Dell laptop Inspiron 1545 model PPHL that will not connect to my wireless route. I know the wireless router is working because I call connect to the internet using my Gateway laptop. I'm getting a message that the (Dell) wireless capability switch is turned off. I've been unsuccessfull in my atttempts to turn it on. how to turn the switch on?

Yesterday I got a new TP-Link TL-WR1403ND Wireless N router. And after trying for ages to try to connect my Galaxy Nexus and iPad (both Wireless N devices), I finally called the TP-Link Support.Both devices could see the wireless, but would never let me join.Anyway, support told me to try connect a laptop if I had one, which I did (a very old one) and it also could not connect. The first thing the tech got me to do was set the mode from mixed-b/g/n to mixed-b/g. This got it to work, and the tech basically said � there you go, works. But the main reason I got this router was to use wireless n.Anyway, I told her that was not acceptable, she then told me to set it back and change the security to WPA-PSK (it was WPA2-PSK). I did this and she also told me to disable WMM.Anyway that worked, so I was happy. I then went and change the security back to WPA2, and it still worked. So the main issue stopping me from connecting to the WiFi from my devices was WMM.So after all that... I looked up WMM, and can see it basically a QoS feature. So why does it not work with my phone, ipad and laptop? I have searched the net, and from what I can see, it is a very Important thing to have WMM turned on. So why won't it work with my devices? All three of them can see the wireless network, I can put the password in, but then they don't connect.I am on the latest firmware (can't check the actual name and version as I am not at home), so is there something wrong with this particular router? Is it a known problem? Do I have a faulty unit?

The SSID is configured identically accross multiple controllers, but only works on the WISM's. The same WLAN profile on a 5508 is unavailable unless I select a Radio Policy of 'All'.
All controllers (WISM's and 5508's are running 6.0.188.0)The WLAN profile is using MAC Filtering[WPA2][Auth(802.1X)] as the security policy.

Chrome wont open anything - just says proxy server problem. If I run diagnose from IE it say my connection is fine. I have AVG free software. I do get a error from totalnetguard when I boot up that says it can't log on. If I use my aircard direct on the computers usb slot and connect that way everything works fine.

Jul 21, 2011I have bought a DIR 615 router one week ago and although my main goal was to use it at better wireless speeds (using the N feature) it turned out that I can only use it as a normal router. The hardware version is H1 and the software ver is 8.0.
The problem is that whenever I turn on the wireless with default configuration, the router immediately starts resetting by itself over and over again. Sometimes it doesn't reconnect, but as soon as I try to connect to it using one of my laptops, it immediately starts restarting. After it starts the continuous resetting, it is very hard to reset its settings using the hardware reset button, because I don't even have time to press it for 10 seconds. If the wireless is turned off, everything works.

Feb 16, 2013I have a westell DSL modem/router supplied by Frontier. It connects only to the telephone line and via cat5 to my main router, a cisco EA6500. Everything seems to be working fine, I just would like to understand a few things.I disabled wireless radio on the westell, enabled it on the cisco, so I have just one WIFI network active.I know I am not supposed to have two DHCP servers active, but I did not know how else to be sure the CISCO would get a good address, so I left DHCP active on the WESTELL, and also enabled it on the CISCO to provide service for the rest of the net.The WESTELL admin interface is at 192.168.1.1, and assigns addresses in this range.According to the WESTELL, the CISCO is at 192.168.1.27, which I assume was assigned by DHCP.The CISCO has an admin interface at 10.144.224.224, and assigns addresses in this range to all the other devices on my net.As I say, everything works.I can access both router admin pages with a browser on my main 10.144.224 network, and can ping both.But I don't understand why it works.What rules allow me to talk to the WESTELL admin page from the CISCO private network, but do NOT propagate the DHCP access which is at the exact same IP address.
It is great that it works. But should I really have disabled DHCP on the WESTELL and assigned a static address to the CISCO? Or is this situation actually provided for in the rules, not just a lucky accident that it works?Why does the scanner say that the CISCO DHCP is "Unknown" rather than Authorized or Unauthorized? Is there something I can or should do to get it to be "Authorized"? I can ping 192.168.1.1, but not the 192.168.1.27 (times out), and yet when I ping a non-existent 192.169.1.3 I get "Reply from 192.168.1.27: Destination host unreachable".

Oct 1, 2012I've recently installed a Cisco 2504 WLAN Controller with (5) AIR-LAP1042N-A-K9 Access Points. Everything is working fine as far as the APs connecting to the controller, and clients being able to connect to the WiFi and get network access, etc. The one problem I have is that one AP's b/g/n radio is not active.
If I go to the WLAN Controller management web page, and look at the Access Point Summary, it shows that I have five (5) 802.11 a/n radios active but only four (4) 802.11 b/g/n radios active. I know which AP is affected and clients can indeed connect to that radio using wireless 'B' but not 'N'.I have only one WLAN configured on the 2504 (WLAN ID 1), and one AP group name (default-group) so there are no special groupings of APs. I have been through every page of the Controller management page with a "fine tooth comb" and cannot find any place where I could accidentally be turning off the a/n radio for a single controller.
