Or if cable is turned off but Internet is still on one can still receive the lower channels 23 and under? I have been inside of the cable service locations for say the house and my block with a service tech when they replace my bad Cable but I did not see any server points that could turn off individual address! so I am curious asto how all of this works?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, I currently have a Toshiba Satellite, L550 Series, and in the new year, my battery started becoming loose in the charging spot, so I turned my computer off for the night to save power, and went out the following day. When I turned my computer back on, it started to say that I had no internet connection available, and when I tried to troubleshoot, instead of working like it normally does, it said I needed to plug in an ethernet cable, which I don't use at all.So, I decided to look around my Network and Connections page, and when I clicked the link called "See Full Map", instead of seeing what I normally see (which is my computer, my brothers computer, and my sisters computer, then the internet router) I only saw a sentence along the lines of "The adapter needs to be plugged in".

The message tells me that the wireless capability is turned off. It says "Turn on wireless capability - this can be done by using as switch which can usually be found on side of computer or a function key combination." I can find no switch on my laptop, and don't know how which function key combination to press.

View 14 Replies View RelatedIf I have anything else connected to the network (anything being my Xbox 360, or my smartphone) and I turn on/wake up my computer, the entire network crashes and I have to power cycle the router and modem in order to get it to work again. What would even cause this? I often forget to turn off the wifi on my smartphone before I turn on the computer, which results in a lot of very tedious power cycling. It's also frustrating if I'm playing some vidya on the 360 and my wife gets on the computer, resulting in me getting kicked off and her unable to even do what she wanted to do in the first place.
The stranger part is that if I have my computer already on, and I turn on the 360/smartphone, it works fine. So there's something going wrong in the process of my computer connecting to the network, I guess. I have set a static IP, and I also made sure to turn off the energy saving feature of my wifi card, but neither of those things solved the problem.
Whenever my main PC is turned on, i get no signal from the wireless, like i cannot use my phone or laptop on the internet i use an ethernet cable which is direclty connected to my main PC my windows is also window XP and my modem model is TG782T only if my pc is turned off the wireless works

I want to use the repeater function of this router but when I follow the instructions given by asus I hit a wall. They say to switch to repeater mode, plug it into a client on the network, and then launch quick installation setup by opening an internet browser. Unfortunately when I use a wired connection to the old router I cannot even navigate the internet because my computer is interpreting it as being hard wired to the router for my old network. is there a way to factory reset the monitor?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an Asus Rt-n56u router to replace a netgear that bit the dust. I have three xbox 360's connected wirelessly to the network, that me and my roommates typically use simultaneously. When any one of us turns off our xbox, we completely lose the internet. Sometimes it comes back in a few minutes, and other times we have to reset the modem and the router to get it back. I emailed ASUS and got suggestion to try port forwarding, without real clear instructions on what to do.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI consider myself very technical and with pretty good knowledge of networking and routers, but I was baffled today. I was doing some testing and had a Firefox browser open with Pandora playing some music. I decided to reboot my router and much to my amazement, after pulling the power plug on the router, Pandora kept playing music as if nothing happened! It went on to play the entire 6 minute song then stopped when it attempted to go to the next song in the play list.I must admit I don't understand this. Even if it has something to do with a networking protocol I don't understand, the router is still needed for the physical (Ethernet wire) connections from my PC to the router and then ultimately through the cable modem to the internet. Of course, I did NOT turn off the cable modem--just the router.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a PC with a Realtek onboard Ethernet controller, running Windows XP. It's connected to an Asus RT-n16 router loaded with TomatoUSB, via a Cat5e cable. When I set it up a month or two ago, I confirmed that I was getting a Gigabit connection to it--the little network connection icon in the Windows XP taskbar indicated "1.0 Gbps." All well and good. I just happened to check it today, and it now says "100Mbps." Nothing, as far as I know, has changed to the configuration. I went into the Device Manager, and saw that under the driver settings, in "Speed", it was set to "Auto-Negotiate." When I tried setting that to "1.0 Gbps" instead, the network connection icon in XP's taskbar once again indicated "1.0Gbps." As an experiment, I then changed it back to Auto-Negotiate, and once again the taskbar icon read "100Mbps."So I guess I have two questions. 1) Should I leave the driver setting on 1Gbps rather than Auto-Negotiate? (2) Why might the speed have switched from 1Gbps to 100Mbps over the past month if nothing's changed?
