My NIC card started flashing last night. The computer was turn off, and the network cable to the cable modem was unplugged. Also, I installed some free software that day and wonder if there is a connection.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I have anything else connected to the network (anything being my Xbox 360, or my smartphone) and I turn on/wake up my computer, the entire network crashes and I have to power cycle the router and modem in order to get it to work again. What would even cause this? I often forget to turn off the wifi on my smartphone before I turn on the computer, which results in a lot of very tedious power cycling. It's also frustrating if I'm playing some vidya on the 360 and my wife gets on the computer, resulting in me getting kicked off and her unable to even do what she wanted to do in the first place.
The stranger part is that if I have my computer already on, and I turn on the 360/smartphone, it works fine. So there's something going wrong in the process of my computer connecting to the network, I guess. I have set a static IP, and I also made sure to turn off the energy saving feature of my wifi card, but neither of those things solved the problem.
My new computer won't connect with the internet until my older computer is turned on. My phone is the same way when going Wi-Fi.

I have to go in and put in the key every time... and then there are times that it says "limited or no connectivity". We just had a new router/modem installed in our network just yesterday. This router/modem is in conjunction with cable tv difficulties we were having.

Whenever i turn off my computer, internet access stops for the entire network, anyone who is conencted, however, local access is still possible.I am also having a problem with the wireless in my laptop also. Whereas every computer on my network is able to access the router wirelessly, my computer (the one that seems to chut down internet access) won't do that, i send packets, but none are received.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Comcast cable going through a Netgear wireless router (WNR1000V2) with 2 PC's connected to it. (both desktops are wired directly to the router)When ever my computer is on and I game, I get a steady low latency ping, usually <50ms.But when my roommate turns on his PC, every 5-6 seconds or so I get a surge upto ~250ms.I disconnected the ethernet cable from his PC while I was gaming and the surging stopped and I had a very smooth connection. But as soon as I plugged it back up I started getting horrible ping. This leads me to believe that some program on his PC is interrupting the internet latency.
I am completely lost on how to track down what is sapping my internet. His PC is not running any bit torrent clients or P2P programs at all.We both are on a 2 month old copy of win7 x64.Are there any programs that I can use that would tell me what is using the internet to the point of lagging the whole network?
I pay for a 50mb service and reguarly check the download speed I was getting. I would always get between 45-50mb. However I went on holiday for a few days, and so I turned all the plugs off at the wall(something I never do) and since I got home im getting speed of around 20-25mb. I called the engineer out but he wasnt able to do anything because when he connected it to his laptop, he was getting speeds of 47mb. He said he didnt know why i was getting such a slow speed through my desktop, just said it must have something to do with my computer.
View 1 Replies View Relatedthere has been issues with this router, and I wonder if any of you have issues connecting to the 5ghz when you wake your pc from sleep longer than an hour. For some reason when I put my computer to sleep at night and wake it up in the morning, my computer will not connect to 5ghz. It will work fine with 2.4, both are set in auto, so I dont see any issues. I did try to put 5ghz to a manual setting; wpa2, 40 mhz, and channel 161. I still get the same results. I am doing something wrong or is the router's 5ghz faulty?Also when is the new firmware coming, I am getting sick of my Harddrive being awake 24/7, its killing the harddrives life span and wasting electricity. I should put this in another post, because they should really change the media server to Wild Media Server or Serviio it would be alot better.

The problem, however, is that I can't seem to find the wireless card at all. All I see is a sound card and a video card plugged in so how was I able to get wireless internet on the computer in the first place?

Often (almost always) , when i am connected to wifi via my linksys wireless n PCI e card, speeds are suuuuper slow, and it even causes my computer speeds to slow down (mouse tweaks and glitches, loading bars will stop and start spinning.. etc. almost like low RAM problem?).When i disconnect from wifi, the slow computer problem goes away.I have replaced the wifi card since i thought that was the problem. Although the problem came back.I am currently using a USB wireless N adapter, and i have one bar connectivity, and it runs 100x faster than my PCI card. OH AND ALSO: a few times i have been using m,y desktop with super slow speeds on the PCI card, and i connect on my PS3 or laptop and open a web page. SOMETIMES it will affect something, and my desktop will start running with network speeds again. It's almost like the other devices re-set something in the router?

I have tried all of my PCI slots tried ASUS and Realtek drivers and utilities and uninstalling removing and reinstalling and even contacting costumer support. I have it configured with a Realtek wireless card and was able to connect it to my office wireless network without a problem.But, when I try to set it up at home, it won't take. I have a dlink router that is working fine with several Mac computers in my home, so I know the router and network are up and running fine.The PC uses Windows XP. The icon in the lower right corner says dlink is connected and there is strong signal strength. However, when I check the dlink status, it shows that 2,573 "packets" are sent, while "0" are received.I've tried to connect to the internet using Mozilla, Safari, and Explorer. Each says the server cannot be found and that the internet is not connected.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was replacing a bad cap on my DIr-615 and noticed I have the 635(or 625?) board except there is no USB port or 3rd antenna soldered on.I soldered on a 3rd antenna from an old linksys router but don't know if it's working.If I flash the DIR-635 FW(I'm using DD-wrt) will it work fine and enable the antenna to work? Will having a third antenna even be beneficial at all for range and signal strength?I plan on flashing DD-wrt firmware for the 635 if that makes any difference.

I set the router to recovery mode and tried openwrt, dd-wrt, tomato, and gargoyle. I tried with chrome, firefox, ultra simple web browser, and ie 8. Every attempt resulted in "Upgrade Failed". I know Rev A1 is supported by DD-WRT, just sucks newegg sent me a B1. Looks like several other routers run similar hardware, so it's got to be doable.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have two WAP4410N access points that are behaving identically. When connected without an ethernet connection, the Power light comes on and stays on. However, as soon as you attach an ethernet cable, whether it's attached to anything on the other end or not, the LEDs on the devices start blinking - first the Power light, then the Wireless light, repeatedly. They continue to do this, even when the ethernet cord is removed.
In addition to this, I cannot ping the IP, even when the WAP directly connected to a PC in the same subnet. I tried a hard reset, but I can't even ping the default IP.
Both WAPS have a very basic configuration. Neither of them are running upgraded firmware.
I just purchased a new E4200 to speed up my network and all seems to be fine with the exception of the Cisco light flashing rapidly which indicates a problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo, I messed around with my router a little too much and just want to restore it back to the original firmware now. I have a WRT54GS v7 Linksys router and tried to follow this guide to flash the firmware to something a little more useful. After step 7 of that guide, I can't ping my router, can't access the GUI, and have no idea what my router's IP is. If I assign each computer plugged into the router an IP like 192.168.1.2 I can ping them, so the router is still functioning somewhat. I'm plugged into my modem right now to get on the Internet.
Right now, my power light is off, my DMZ light is off, my WLAN light is off, but the other lights turn on if I plug a cord into its port (plug a computer into port 1, port 1's light comes on). When I do an ipconfig /all i get this. I doubt the web interface still works, but if I could at least get the router's IP, couldn't I use tftp and put the firmware on that way?
