View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Toshiba Satellite C660 laptop with Windows 7 on Sept 1st, and had no problems at first with the mobile broadband. However, on Monday 13th I noticed massive spikes in the data usage. After browsing the internet for around an hour I decided to check my usage randomly, and it was at 350mb!Since then, there's times when I don't even have my browser open and in the space of 5 minutes it will reach 150mb of usage. There's also times when it works absolutely perfectly for hours on end (including today, where it was working fine up until around an hour ago!) I phoned the mobile broadband company twice last week, the first time the person told me that it was a computer issue and to go to an IT repair place.
So after sending him screencaps of Windows task manager processes/applications/network he can't see anything that could be doing it. He advised me to do a full antivirus scan, and full malwarebytes and ad aware scans and they've all come up clean.The second time I phoned the broadband company, they told me that there were some wrong settings, and that they've been changed now but if I have any more problems to ring customer care again.So after seeing an offer with a different mobile broadband provider, I decided to buy a new broadband stick and change networks in hoping that would solve the problem.... it didn't.
So there's definitely something about the new laptop that's causing the data usage to spike I don't use any torrent programs, and haven't been watching youtube videos constantly or trying to stream online, like I said there's been times where I don't even have Google Chrome open and it's using up all my data! I don't use Skype or anything like that either (to be honest I have barely any programs on this new laptop)I've turned off all the automatic updates for as many programs as I think can have them. Ii's definitely improved a bit though, but there are still times (like around an hour ago) that the data usage starts spiking randomly.
I am trying to set up a static IP address for my Toshiba Satellite L350 Wireless Laptop on Windows 7. My Broadband is on TalkTalk (UK) Huawai Echo-Life HG520b. I tried many sites but it never seems to work.

I have a Toshiba Satellite that I got almost a year ago. I lose connection a lot. I have to often enable the adapter because it has been disabled or when troubleshooting it resets the adapter. We have several other computers on our network that work fine. This is the only one with Windows 7. The router is Realtek RTL8187B Wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps USB 2.0.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a general networking question regarding VLANS, multiple broadband connections and accessing PC's on both setups from each other.What I would like to do is have 2 broadband connections, one a cable connection and one a DSL connection. I would like to run them both through a Netgear FS-726T switch. Since the cable connection will go through a Linksys router giving out I.P.s in the range of 192.168.1.x and the DSL will probably use the same range, I would like to keep specific PC's connecting through the DSL connection and some other PC's specifically through the cable connection. I THINK that this can be done via the use of VLAN's set up on the Netgear switch but I am unfamiliar with setting them up. I've read through the manual and researched it online but I must be missing something.Due to the bandwidth limitations on the Comcast connection, I would like to avoid any data coming from the PC's on the DSL connection from going out through the cable connection (I do customer support for my business and want customers to be able to access files on my file server and also be able to back up their PC's online to my backup server but on the DSL connection. I will eat up my cable bandwidth in a hurry just from the backups alone. I would like to set up all the PC's with static I.P. addresses if possible. Now, I also need to be able to remotely access any of the PC's from outside my network (which I can do now) but I need to be able to access the cable connected PC's from the DSL connected PC's and vice versa.I have a feeling what I want to do is a mess and may not even be feasible. I have asked the networking personnel where I work but (primarily because they are arrogant SOB's) they won't even give me the slightest bit of information.

I should also mention that my Xbox 360 won't connect either, but both of my friend's laptops as well as my phone do connect to our internet. Also, using my phone as a wifi hotspot works intermittently.
When I do ipconfig /release it says the following:

I am trying to set up a desktop computer to have a wireless usb adapter running so I can connect to the Wireless-G Broadband Router. When I run the setup CD for the wireless usb adapter it asks me to push the Wi-Fi Protected Setup Button on the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router.
I have looked at the Linksys router found an obscure button on the front with the Cisco Systems Copyright logo on it. I pushed this but the wireless usb adapter failed to locate the wireless network. There is also another button on the back of the Linksys Router that is a Reset button.
Sky router setup in the living room, with a NAS, TV, PS3 connected to it.In my office (separate room), i have 2 laptops and a desktop PC.My question is:If i want to connect all of the equipment in my office so that it shares the broadband connection am i right in thinking i would need to by some form of switch? where the switch would be connected to the phone socket in the wall, and the 2 laptops and desktop PC would be connected directly to the switch.?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my Sagem router running sky broadband for about 7 or more months now, but yesterday the connection began to drop randomly after connecting for like 40 seconds. Then It will come back on again 1-2mins later,they asked me unscrew my phone line covers to check yo see if it was a direct line. Eventually they told me that they would pass the issue onto their experts and would contact me in 72 hours, however after reading the exact issue that someone else had and he didn't receive any contact.
- My desktop is connected via Ethernet and I have 2 laptops which also cannot connect to the Router.
- I don't recall any changes I've made to the network, that might have caused these problems
I was trying to do something with wifi settings in my DSL router modem and I messed up. So I created a new DSL router configuration with PPPOE and internet is getting automatically connected and working fine. But, When I go to connect to the internet it is giving me Error 651. But, the internet is working fine, when I checked in Networks LAN was configured to connect to the internet but not the connection I regularly use. The status is "Currently connected to network". The connection I use to connect to the internet is now giving 651.
