I just got a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR850 USB 2.0 TV Tuner, and have been trying to hook up my laptop to the satellite reciever / PVR from Bell. have been unable to get it working. I was'nt sure if this device works with satellite recievers or no ? By the way the laptop has VISTA on it.
View 4 RepliesMy Toshiba Satellite (C655-S5049) with Atheros wireless works just fine at my home and a number of public wireless locations (Panara Bread, libraries, school, etc.) There are many other public wireless locations where I try to connect and just get an "unable to connect" dialog box which gives me the options to "diagnose connection problem" (blames the access point). The places that work, work consistently. The places that don't work, I've never been able to get in even though people around me are online with their machines.I'm running thie machine pretty much as it was delivered out of the box. I've installed AVG for virus protection, and I have all the default protection settings (firewall, sharing, etc.).

Cox blames it on Toshiba and Netgear and netgear blames it on Toshiba. i blame it on Cox who says for some reason my Toshiba wont allow the signal to be picked up. It goes elsewhere but not my laptop. PS is my satellite burner capable or do I have to buy softwARE?

I have a Toshiba Satellite that I got almost a year ago. I lose connection a lot. I have to often enable the adapter because it has been disabled or when troubleshooting it resets the adapter. We have several other computers on our network that work fine. This is the only one with Windows 7. The router is Realtek RTL8187B Wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps USB 2.0.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect to my home network, I get 'No Internet access.' I am running windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. I should also mention that my Xbox 360 won't connect either, but both of my friend's laptops as well as my phone do connect to our internet. Also, using my phone as a wifi hotspot works intermittently.
When I do ipconfig /release it says the following:

I have a new PC with Intel DH55HC motherboard and running windows 7 32 bit. I have attempted to install the drivers from Intel and redone the BIOS settings as well. Nothing seems to work.

I have completed several system restores, and the wireless connection works for a few days. On the last occasion (after installing windows updates) I received the dreaded blue screen and have been unable to connect.I am not sure if it is related to installing new windows updates as prior to restoring to factory settings I had no issues with my wireless connection.I am able to connect using the ethernet cable and I am currently able to connect using Pluscom wireless usb adapter. I connected the broadband cable to onboard ethernet & configured the ip,subnet mask, gateway, DNS1 & DNS2. Internet connection was established. I also established an another cable between PCI ethernet card and switch. I configured the 2nd card to ip 192.168.1.1 . But when I tried to share a connection, my internet stopped to work.

However whenever I enable ICS on my wireless connection and then plug in the ethernet cable to my laptop and my desktop, the wireless automatically turns itself off and only the LAN connection between my laptop and desktop is active. I have done a lot of googling and read a lot of forums, but unable to find a way wherein I can let my wifi remain enabled even after plugging in the LAN cable.

I quickly reversed this but now for some reason, all the wireless networks that are around me cannot be picked up on my Phillips Freevents Windows XP.it was able to pick up two wireless connections and now, not even a trace of one. The other laptops in the house can pick up the wireless connections so I know its working.The internet works when the box is connected to the computer but I need the box in another room so wireless is essential.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been beating my head up over this issue for the last couple days. I have a DLink DGE-530T Gigabit NIC in my computer,which runs through a DGS-2205 Gigabit Switch and the switch is then connected to a DIR-655 Gigabit router. The basic issue is this:
whenever I set the speed of the NIC to "Auto-Negotiate" or "1000Mbps" it will start connecting and disconnecting every few seconds. After a little while on my Windows Server 2003 computer, it will blue screen and say there was a memory parity error and to contact the vendor. On my Windows XP machine with the same NIC, it will just sit there connecting and disconnecting.

In both cases i had to move to different housing and internet connection went without a hitch. However i'm now at my new place, and i cant seem to get my desktop computer to connect to the internet. After 8 different campus tech crews came through, they've determined that the connection issue is not caused on their end. The issue as far as i can tell is not caused by the cable either because i got internet access when i bridged the connection using my laptop's wireless connection. I have also used the cable to connect to the internet on my laptop. However, when i try to connect on my desktop it says that that ethernet cable is not connected. No link light comes on, and the connection is not recognized at all.

- neither the LAN connection or the wireless connction will access the internet through Internet Explorer
- microsoft email will not send and recieve
- Steam will not connect
- Norton 360 will connect to live update and download
- taskbar icon shows LAN connection is OK
- When I open Network and Sharing, the network map shows this pc is connected to internet through named network.
- Local Area Connection Status show 197,816 bytes sent and 311,088 recieved.
We have 2 laptops connected to the same wireless network working perfectly. There is also another desktop (Dell 8400) with a LAN connection to the router working perfectly. The affected pc (HP m9150f) is also connected to router with a LAN connection. The D-link Dir-615 wireless router is connected to a Shaw Motorolla modem model SB5102. The HP m9150f stopped connecting a few days ago, other than that, it worked fine.how I managed to get 4 computers running on a network in the first place..
W7. Internet connection is through BT Home Hub2 and is hardwired. No problem at all. But my wireless connected BT internet radio and my wife's Kindle can no longer connect to the internet. The radio says connecting to network but does nothing. I have changed nothing I am aware of. I have looked at the BT Home Hub Wireless set up page and the settings are Using WPA and WPA2 and the correct wireless encryption key is there. Channel selection is automatic. I have changed that to 3 other suggested channels, no result. Frankly it is all Greek to me and I do not know what I am looking at. how I reconnect the Kindle by wireless and the internet radio? (I know I can use a USB to connect the Kindle, but not the radio).

But the same connection is working fine on other laptop. I checked the device manager and every looks working fine.In my ipconfig /all details, my Eternet LAN physical address shows all zeroes and has no default gateway address .Also the DNS servers address shows some alphabets instead of numbers.

Well I didnt complete the installation and set up because I forgot to write down the registration key #. Ever since then I have had a terrible time getting my network reconfigured and have tried everything with Verizon network support over the phone. I am now unable to get a valid Ip address or default gateway with either my Wireless or my LAN connections. I have done all types of troubleshooting, resetting netgear router, modem, ip config /reset /renew,netsh winsock reset catalog commands and etc . . . STILL NOTHING WORKS ! I have another machine that is a mac book on my home wirless network that connects just fine, the only problem is my machine. I just moved into a student apartment which has internet included. There is an RJ45 jack on the wall I am I able to use internet normally when using an Ethernet cable.However, I can't share the connection wirelessly. I have a Buffalo ADSL Modem/router which I would like to use to share the connection. The first time I plugged the cable into one of the 4 LAN slot, I was able to browse wirelessly but after a few minutes it stopped working and has not worked ever since. Could it be some kind of restriction on their part?Is there any special configuration settings to share my connection in such a way? Note that I don't use any DSL (phone) line here, I only have access to an Ethernet cable. When trying to browse Chrome gives me "Cannot load page because the DNS lookup failed"
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a Beetel 450BXi modem with is ADSL2+Modem.It was provided by an ISP (ISP-1) however I have changed my ISP (ISP-2) and was using this modem satisfactorily for some time. However due to change in locality, I had to subscribe to a new connection of ISP-2, however the modem is not working even after hard reset.The ISP-2 network guy is not able to figure out the problem. They swapped the modem with their own modem which was working fine, however the beetel modem is not working. In the beetel modem DSL and WLAN links are working perfectly however the Internet link is not working.

I'm trying to get IPSec VPN working onto a new Cisco ASA5505. Pretty standard configuration.Setup:
* Cisco VPN client on Windows 7 (v5.0.07.0290 x64 on Laptop1 and v5.0.07.0440 x64 on Laptop2)
* PPPoE/NAT and internal DHCP on the ASA were configured with the Startup Wizard in ASDM
NATting is working fine - internal PCs get an IP address in the 192.168.2.0/24 range and can all access the Internet.I wanted to be able to connect from anywhere to the ASA in order to reach one of the internal servers. Should be pretty basic.First I tried with the built-in ASDM IPSec Wizard, instructions found here.VPN clients can connect to the ASA, are connected (until they're manually disconnected), but cannot reach the internal network nor the Internet. Note VPN client can connect fine to a different VPN site (not administered by myself). [code]
Unfortunately I'm getting the same "AddRoute failed to add a route with metric of 0: code 160" error message.I'm very confused as this should be a pretty standard setup. I tried to follow the instructions on the Cisco site to the letter...The only "differences" in my setup are an internal network of 192.168.2.0 (with ASA IP address 192.168.2.254) and PPPoE with DHCP instead of no PPPoE at all.
I installed the quickVPN Client for use with RVS4000 small business router/VPN on a platform with Windows 7. It was not able to complete the VPN connection. I installed on Windows XP machine, both on the same network. The XP machine was able to connect just fine.
