Wireless Connection - Windows Unable To Connect

i bought an Apple iMac with Airport (an inbuilt router.) I have a desktop computer (Windows XP) in another room, and also a laptop.I bought a TP-LINK TL-WN721N Wireless USB Adapter. On the Laptop and Desktop, the wireless network is working. My network's name is listed, with full strength. However, when the message Detecting Network Type comes up, the message closes with another message - "Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range.

I have 2 laptops both have windows 7 and use usb modem to connect to internet, and use Ad-hoc to share connection on 2nd laptop, usually i share connection from my personal laptop for my other laptop but since past few days i am getting error on my other laptop that window unable to connect to network, I tried making new ad-hoc connections with and without authentication but no luck.. but if i make ad-hoc connection on my other laptop and share it to my personal laptop it works and i am able to connect and browse internet without problem.

My laptop is reading a full WiFi signal from my router. I am currently connected to the router via Ethernet on the same laptop. I've been reading tons of old threads to troubleshoot this. I'm at a loss. I have used this current networking hardware for more than a year without any problems. I do have a pretty old router but my iPod connects to the WiFi no problem at the moment. Here's what I've tried so far:
- soft reset of router
- power cycle modem and router
- removed saved network information from the laptop

Im able to create a gateway tunnel with two rv042 routers in different locations ( i can see the tunnel connected in the router) but the quick vpn utility is not working , i also tried to use the pptp as server as an alternative( im able to connect using windows connection to the pptp server but whenever I browse any of the four ip's allowed for the pptp server \10.0.0.200-204 it takes me to the documents of the local computer....I attached the configuration for one of the routers it is the same as the other end , just the information is flipped.

So, my computer was having some serious issues, but the internet worked just fine. Me and a friend live in the same building and we're sharing a wireless connection and splitting the cost. I had to reformat my computer (it was windows XP SP3), but when I reinstalled windows it's SP2. I installed the wireless drivers and such, and those work great. However, I try to connect to the network 'Cay13' which is the one I'm sharing with my friend but it won't connect. It will just keep saying 'waiting for the network 'cay13' to connect to the network'. It won't come up with an error, it will just stop and refresh the wireless networks. I will then get a bubble that says 'Unable to connect to preferred wireless networks., Windows will keep trying.' etc... My friend's computer connects just fine so it doesn't seem like it's the router, and I've tried every which way from sunday to configure, connect, uninstall/reinstall the wireless drivers, etc.

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 1750 / Windows 7. Have wireless access in home and unable to get this new laptop connected. I shows the router, bars are there, click on connect, it connects and then for some reason immediately disconnects.

I am not able to connect my HP laptop (Windows Vista) to the internet via a wireless router/high speed internet.My internet service provider confirmed that it is a problem with my HP laptop.I have a Linksys router. My other laptop (Sony) connects fine.I have tried two browsers on my HP laptop to access the internet with no luck.My HP laptop does say that I am connected to the wireless network.

Since successfully restoring my laptop to factory settings I have been unable to connect using my Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection.Initially it worked, but after a while it stopped. I have completed several system restores, and the wireless connection works for a few days. On the last occasion (after installing windows updates) I received the dreaded blue screen and have been unable to connect.I am not sure if it is related to installing new windows updates as prior to restoring to factory settings I had no issues with my wireless connection.I am able to connect using the ethernet cable and I am currently able to connect using Pluscom wireless usb adapter. A few weeks ago I tried to install vmware to my toshiba laptop to play around with is and eventually install Windows server 2008 virtually. Well I didnt complete the installation and set up because I forgot to write down the registration key #. Ever since then I have had a terrible time getting my network reconfigured and have tried everything with Verizon network support over the phone. I am now unable to get a valid Ip address or default gateway with either my Wireless or my LAN connections. I have done all types of troubleshooting, resetting netgear router, modem, ip config /reset /renew,netsh winsock reset catalog commands and etc . . . STILL NOTHING WORKS ! I have another machine that is a mac book on my home wirless network that connects just fine, the only problem is my machine. And I have also taken this machine to my job and try connect to the wireless public network and all I get is "limited access" I ran the network test that Kadar provided and this is what I get:

I have a wireless router that was named and all the wireless equipment (laptop, ipod, phones) was connecting easily with no problems. Everything is saying "unable to connect". I have no clue what she did but she said her laptop asked her for the 8 number code from the router and she entered it.

My dad is using a netgear router DG834G V2 and has no problem until recently. He got a new phone and wanted to connect wirelessly but couldn't remember is network key. After playing around with things he's obviuosley changed something and now has no internet what so ever.
I've tried plugging in the eternet cable and accessing 192.168.0.1 but can't see any problems there. When i am able to get a connection it's local only and Internet explorer can't display web pages. And when i unplug the ethernet cable it doesn't always find the wireless connection, and if it does find it, then i have the same problem as when the lead is plugged in.
His ISP is AOL although he doesn't always access the internet via aol, he'll use IE and i'm trying to get him to give firefox a go.
I have tried disabled both windows firewall and AVG firewall and individually but still keep getting the message internet explorer cannot display webpage.

I have a Samsung RV510 laptop computer running Windows 7 that is about 6 months old. It has worked well until the last couple of days. Despite the fact that it shows an active wireless internet connection, I cannot get web pages to open. I have tried both IE and Firefox with no luck. I have tried many different websites including microsoft, msn, google and yahoo and none have connected. Other devices connected to the same wireless network include a laptop running XP, a MacBook pro, an iPhone, an iPad, and several android smart phones and all have been functioning without issue. An XP desktop is also connected to the router with an ethernet cable with no issues. This laptop is the only device running Windows 7.
When I run the windows network diagnostics tool I get the message "Problem found The remote device or resource won't accept the connection". I have tried most of the recommended actions associated with the linkI have successfully pinged www.google.com and www.yahoo.com. I have also tried several other things that i found while doing research on this problem with no success.[CODE]

I have a new Inspiron 7520 and having issues with connecting to my secure network. In trying to troubleshoot the issue, I've discovered I can connect to my network when the connection is unsecured. When its encrypted, my connection is only limited (no IP address assign). I've also downloaded and installed the latest drivers with no resolution to my issue.

I have had a problem with my WRT400N wireless Linksys router. Whenever my router restarts or if the DHCP lease expires, I'm unable to connect to internet. During this time I can access the router, but not the internet. Oddly something that seems to "fix" this is if I use my nintendo wii to access my wireless internet at that time, all computers on my network are able to access the internet. However this is annoying to do since this happens once a day from DHCP lease expiring. Using any other computer to attempt to access the internet at this time would be unable to get a connection until I do the "fix" with the Wii. WRT400N

I'm using a year-and-a-bit old Acer laptop, windows 7. I'm on a wireless network at home, but it keeps on disconnecting me. Basically my desktop computer no longer connects to the internet, and I'll try to describe the problem to you all to the best of my ability.I ran ipconfig /all and it is attached.The problem first started a few weeks back and I haven't been able to get around to it due to school. When trying to connect to my router it will connect with limited connectivity (in other words, at the bottom right of the screen when you check the SSID you're connected to, it will show the signal strength, but it also has a yellow exclamation mark indicating it has no connectivity. When I ran the built-in troubleshooter on it, I received multiple things:
- sometimes: "windows could not automatically detect this network proxy settings"
- sometimes: "no errors detected"
Of course I would've done a system restore long ago,however initially I thought the problem was the adapter so I kept re-installing the drivers, I even went to buy other network adapters to make sure my adapter wasn't the one that was defective (I have an ASUS adapter, the other adapters I've tried were D-Link, and Netgear which is also the brand of my router which is very old). Because of all these installs/uninstalls, the old system restores I had were gone. I have Windows 7 64 bit, I'm using wireless connectivity and cannot try ethernet cable due to the immobility of my desktop and problems it would generate around the house. I've attempted to change the IP address of my network properties of ivp4 to defaults, change the DNS server, check my DHCP, check my services, check my registry, and many other things found on the internet (including resetting with netsh)

Earlier today I re installed windows XP. Before reinstall my net was working fine. And now it won't connect.I tried to use the installation disc that came with the modem, and partway through the install/set up it says that it cannot find my Gateway.
ipconfig shows " windows up configuration"
And when search the dev managers, network addapters is not in the list.

Moved into a new place recently, internet has been working fine until earlier today I closed my laptop and went to make something to eat. When I came back and turned my computer back on, it keeps giving me this message when I try to connect. It doesnt ask for a password, it simply tries to connect for a few seconds before giving up. After waiting a few hours for the problem to fix itself, one of my flatmates got home and told me they are having the same issue. I have tried restarting my computer, turning off my firewall and restarting the modem.

For the past month or two I have been having some problems connecting to the internet on my computer of 6 years everything works fine its running windows 7 and I have no problems but now every time I turn my computer on the first application to connect to the internet is the only one that can connect. If I open a browser it connects but nothing else will and if I close it I have to restart in order to get a connection again.

This morning, I tried using the computer and I wasn't able to connect to the Internet. The wireless icon on the bottom had either 1 bar, a caution sign with an exclamation point, or some sun icon. Either way, I could not get to my websites. I don't know why my computer cannot connect to the Internet because my iPad can connect perfectly well as I'm on it right now posting this thread. This is the first time it has happened. A few weeks ago my Internet started getting slower and slower. When it was usually an average of 3 bars, it went down to 2 and stayed that way. I was still able to get to my websites back then however the change in speed was noticeable. Now, it is neither 2 bars nor 3 but 0. y computer because my desktop is upstairs whereas my router is downstairs. With all the cables and such I would just end up messing it up or something. What could I do to fix this problem, it's been like this all day. Is it possible a virus is causing this problem?

Since 2 days I can't connect to the modem with my desktop pc(windows 7 x64). I get APIPA as IP adress(169.254.*.*). Tho I can go on internet with my notebook with the same cable I use for my desktop PC.I've also tried direct connection with the modem but it did not work aswell.

Yesterday, my internet through wireless stopped working all of a sudden. It was working good till I closed my pc and went out for a few hours. When I returned and tried to access, it simply does not connect. I get an error saying "Windows was unable to connect to abcd (router name)". I tried to plug it into the router through ethernet and it works perfectly.I have tried to uninstall the wireless adapter and the lan adapter as well. I have tried it in safe mode. I have tried to delete the network also but now that left me with inputting the password everytime I want to connect.

I'm using Untangle on my clients wireless network. It handles all the DHCP and DNS requests. I'm using the web filter option as well. There are two access points, one on upper level and one on lower level. All connect into a switch and then into the optional port on the firewall. Firewall is not set up to give out DHCP leases. Pretty basic setup. Ever since I got Untangle up and running ive noticed my laptop, which has Win 7 as O/S will connect to wireless network, i can ping untangle box, and access point. But no internet. Signal bar shows I have limited connectivity. I thought it was just something on my laptop and set the issue aside. For the record I've never had any issue with connecting to a wireless network with this laptop, at home Im using Ubuntu server to handle all my DHCP, DNS requests on both my wired and wireless network. Never had a problem. Now this client is a library. And I talk to the director, and she has gotten complaints that any patron that uses Win 7 can not connect to wireless. When I'm not there we have a laptop that uses XP, it connects fine. All other patrons that use XP connect without a problem.

I'm having trouble connecting wirelessly with my hp pavilion laptop, running on Windows 7. I just moved and am using a new modem and linksys router. I know the router works fine because my pc (also windows 7) connects just fine. Also, when I take my laptop to a different wireless network, (i.e. coffee shop, library, etc.) it works fine. I am able to get an ethernet connection, just not wirelessly. Windows diagnostics gets me nowhere.

Was able to connect to my network fine a couple of days ago. Now It doesn't want to work.
Everytime I try it seems like I connected (the little blue globe symbol displays) but when I try and go to a webpage, the connection times out or moves slow. When I run diagnose and repair it tells me that this computer has "limited or no connectivity" even though I'm able to connect to other networks. Selecting the "automatically get new IP settings" and "reset network adapter" options don't work. After selecting these earlier it was telling me "unable to connect to primary DNS server", then it was telling me "windows has confirmed this computer is currently experiencing a network connectivity problem". Now it's telling me there is no problem in spite of the slow connection.
I don't think my wireless adapter is the issue, I'm able to connect to other networks fine. I don't think the router/modem is the issue, there's another computer in the house (that I don't own) as well as my xbox hooked up wireless to it with no problem.
