Since successfully restoring my laptop to factory settings I have been unable to connect using my Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection.Initially it worked, but after a while it stopped. I have completed several system restores, and the wireless connection works for a few days. On the last occasion (after installing windows updates) I received the dreaded blue screen and have been unable to connect.I am not sure if it is related to installing new windows updates as prior to restoring to factory settings I had no issues with my wireless connection.I am able to connect using the ethernet cable and I am currently able to connect using Pluscom wireless usb adapter. i bought an Apple iMac with Airport (an inbuilt router.) I have a desktop computer (Windows XP) in another room, and also a laptop.I bought a TP-LINK TL-WN721N Wireless USB Adapter. On the Laptop and Desktop, the wireless network is working. My network's name is listed, with full strength. However, when the message Detecting Network Type comes up, the message closes with another message - "Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range.
A few weeks ago I tried to install vmware to my toshiba laptop to play around with is and eventually install Windows server 2008 virtually. Well I didnt complete the installation and set up because I forgot to write down the registration key #. Ever since then I have had a terrible time getting my network reconfigured and have tried everything with Verizon network support over the phone. I am now unable to get a valid Ip address or default gateway with either my Wireless or my LAN connections. I have done all types of troubleshooting, resetting netgear router, modem, ip config /reset /renew,netsh winsock reset catalog commands and etc . . . STILL NOTHING WORKS ! I have another machine that is a mac book on my home wirless network that connects just fine, the only problem is my machine. And I have also taken this machine to my job and try connect to the wireless public network and all I get is "limited access" I ran the network test that Kadar provided and this is what I get:
I have a wireless router that was named and all the wireless equipment (laptop, ipod, phones) was connecting easily with no problems. Everything is saying "unable to connect". I have no clue what she did but she said her laptop asked her for the 8 number code from the router and she entered it.

My dad is using a netgear router DG834G V2 and has no problem until recently. He got a new phone and wanted to connect wirelessly but couldn't remember is network key. After playing around with things he's obviuosley changed something and now has no internet what so ever.
I've tried plugging in the eternet cable and accessing 192.168.0.1 but can't see any problems there. When i am able to get a connection it's local only and Internet explorer can't display web pages. And when i unplug the ethernet cable it doesn't always find the wireless connection, and if it does find it, then i have the same problem as when the lead is plugged in.
His ISP is AOL although he doesn't always access the internet via aol, he'll use IE and i'm trying to get him to give firefox a go.
I have tried disabled both windows firewall and AVG firewall and individually but still keep getting the message internet explorer cannot display webpage.

I have a new Inspiron 7520 and having issues with connecting to my secure network. In trying to troubleshoot the issue, I've discovered I can connect to my network when the connection is unsecured. When its encrypted, my connection is only limited (no IP address assign). I've also downloaded and installed the latest drivers with no resolution to my issue.

I have had a problem with my WRT400N wireless Linksys router. Whenever my router restarts or if the DHCP lease expires, I'm unable to connect to internet. During this time I can access the router, but not the internet. Oddly something that seems to "fix" this is if I use my nintendo wii to access my wireless internet at that time, all computers on my network are able to access the internet. However this is annoying to do since this happens once a day from DHCP lease expiring. Using any other computer to attempt to access the internet at this time would be unable to get a connection until I do the "fix" with the Wii. WRT400N
I have got a new laptop from work and I cannot get our home wireless to connect. It works on our phones and we can use our neighbours laptop with it but just not ours. It is showing that our wireless is an option but we cannot get onto the internet, page cannot be found/no connection messages come up!
I have 2 laptops both have windows 7 and use usb modem to connect to internet, and use Ad-hoc to share connection on 2nd laptop, usually i share connection from my personal laptop for my other laptop but since past few days i am getting error on my other laptop that window unable to connect to network, I tried making new ad-hoc connections with and without authentication but no luck.. but if i make ad-hoc connection on my other laptop and share it to my personal laptop it works and i am able to connect and browse internet without problem.
I bought a kindle and couldn't get it to connect to wifi. I have a BT homehub 2 and am running xp on my pc. I have now come to the conclusion it was my pc - if I buy a netgear adaptor.
I'm a college student residing in the dorms a I did last year and over the summer. In both cases i had to move to different housing and internet connection went without a hitch. However i'm now at my new place, and i cant seem to get my desktop computer to connect to the internet. After 8 different campus tech crews came through, they've determined that the connection issue is not caused on their end. The issue as far as i can tell is not caused by the cable either because i got internet access when i bridged the connection using my laptop's wireless connection. I have also used the cable to connect to the internet on my laptop. However, when i try to connect on my desktop it says that that ethernet cable is not connected. No link light comes on, and the connection is not recognized at all.
I have a Cisco E1000 that I was changing settings on and now I cannot connect when I have a secure connection. I can connect when I disable security, I can also connect with a USB wireless adapter. Anyone else can connect to the wireless, but I cannot with my internal wireless adapater if the router is in secure mode, but I can with unsecure mode. I'm not sure what I changed or when, or if it is a coincidence. I'm using Windows Vista Home Edition. I have two wireless connections. The wireless 2 with the netgear adapter is working but the wireless with the Atheros is not. The wireless connector works with other other networks, just not the Cisco E1000 and the Cisco E1000 works with other computers. When I connect with the Atheros to the Cisco it just shows "Local Only".
My laptop is reading a full WiFi signal from my router. I am currently connected to the router via Ethernet on the same laptop. I've been reading tons of old threads to troubleshoot this. I'm at a loss. I have used this current networking hardware for more than a year without any problems. I do have a pretty old router but my iPod connects to the WiFi no problem at the moment. Here's what I've tried so far:
- soft reset of router - power cycle modem and router - removed saved network information from the laptop
Im able to create a gateway tunnel with two rv042 routers in different locations ( i can see the tunnel connected in the router) but the quick vpn utility is not working , i also tried to use the pptp as server as an alternative( im able to connect using windows connection to the pptp server but whenever I browse any of the four ip's allowed for the pptp server \10.0.0.200-204 it takes me to the documents of the local computer....I attached the configuration for one of the routers it is the same as the other end , just the information is flipped.
A week ago I accidently clicked the disable icon on wireless network connection on the bottom right icon on my PC screen. I quickly reversed this but now for some reason, all the wireless networks that are around me cannot be picked up on my Phillips Freevents Windows XP.it was able to pick up two wireless connections and now, not even a trace of one. The other laptops in the house can pick up the wireless connections so I know its working. The internet works when the box is connected to the computer but I need the box in another room so wireless is essential.
Have completed a Power Cycle. The affected machine is a HP Elite m9150F desktop. The symptoms include the following:
- neither the LAN connection or the wireless connction will access the internet through Internet Explorer - microsoft email will not send and recieve - Steam will not connect - Norton 360 will connect to live update and download - taskbar icon shows LAN connection is OK - When I open Network and Sharing, the network map shows this pc is connected to internet through named network. - Local Area Connection Status show 197,816 bytes sent and 311,088 recieved.
We have 2 laptops connected to the same wireless network working perfectly. There is also another desktop (Dell 8400) with a LAN connection to the router working perfectly. The affected pc (HP m9150f) is also connected to router with a LAN connection. The D-link Dir-615 wireless router is connected to a Shaw Motorolla modem model SB5102. The HP m9150f stopped connecting a few days ago, other than that, it worked fine.how I managed to get 4 computers running on a network in the first place..
W7. Internet connection is through BT Home Hub2 and is hardwired. No problem at all. But my wireless connected BT internet radio and my wife's Kindle can no longer connect to the internet. The radio says connecting to network but does nothing. I have changed nothing I am aware of. I have looked at the BT Home Hub Wireless set up page and the settings are Using WPA and WPA2 and the correct wireless encryption key is there. Channel selection is automatic. I have changed that to 3 other suggested channels, no result. Frankly it is all Greek to me and I do not know what I am looking at. how I reconnect the Kindle by wireless and the internet radio? (I know I can use a USB to connect the Kindle, but not the radio).
Recently purchased a Dell Inspiron M5030 and realized it has a toshiba hard drive installed. I'm having trouble enabling the wireless on it, also I can't setup a connection with my router. I tried enabling the wireless but I get an run-time error '13' type mismatch
I am unable to access the internet even though my wireless connection shows as active and strong. I tried the connection hard wired, but still no access. I ran a malware detector and removed two items, still no internet availability. What should I do?The trouble shooting device says "Firewall may be preventing your program from running". I have McAffee security system installed.
I just started a new job and recently got my CCNA and CCDA. I hop into this new job and no one knew information to the networking. They decided to re-ip the site and they had 3 wireless access points. I had to hard reset and re-configured the WAP. All the laptop in the building have reception and can get internet. If i connect anyone cell phone, wii or tablets to the wifi, it does not connect.
I have a Packard Bell Laptop using Windows XP OS and doesn't have Wireless Connection. So long ago i bought a Linksys by Cisco Wireless-G Notebook Adapter WPC54G v.1.2 but didn't have time to set it up or use it for travelling conditions. A couple years later when i came back to check on the laptop, i noticed that i lost the setup CD. So i went on the Linksys website and looked for the driver the download. On the back of the Adapter(card) it says it is version 1.2. But this version is unavailable on the Linksys Website. I could only find v.1, 2,3,3.1 and 7. v.1 gives a driver of v3.1 etc... AND NOT VICE-VERSA.So first when i inserted the card into the slot , the PC didnt detect it. It only detected it rarely if i insert another driver (eg: USB..). And so a window would pop up to install but i didnt know what to do there. When i downloaded the v.1 driver from the website and installed it, it seemed not the detect the card either, it would just say searching for wireless, but that's it. It would keep searching for hours even when im next to the router.finally, only the Power led light on the card is lit up but not the "Link" led.
I recently reformatted my laptop to get rid of Vista and now run XP. Stupidly, I didn't know what I was doing 100% and now can't connect to a wireless network. I've looked at guides on how to with XP and it is saying to do it through Network Connections. I have no wireless sections in my NC, so it's basically like XP doesn't realise I've got wireless capabilities.I have installed all of the drivers that there are, multiple times. If I press the wireless button, the window with the Bluetooth, WLAN and UMTS still comes up.
I have a Compaq Presario V3016US Notebook PC. It has Windows XP Home Edition. So onto the problem. If I plug in the Ethernet cord, or try to connect to the Internet wireless, nothing gets picked up.I went into device manager, as I have seen many of you asking whether there is any "Yellow Exclamation" marks, and I found three under the Network Adapters.
I have to unplug/replug my router powercord connection every time i want to use my laptop to access the internet. i have reinstalled the software disc that came with my router. i have have comcast check my modem-
I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 1750 / Windows 7. Have wireless access in home and unable to get this new laptop connected. I shows the router, bars are there, click on connect, it connects and then for some reason immediately disconnects.
i am unable to connect new sony bluray BDP S370 to the internet using a 11n wireless LAN adaptor. As soon as the adaptor is pluged in it is not reconised
I am unable to connect to my network using my d-link wireless adapter. I am able to connect to my neighbor's network and other devices in my house can use my network with no problem. I am absolutely positive that I'm inputting the right password, but am unable to connect.
I recently used my dad's Acer Aspire 5040 and saw that he was using xp service pack 2. I thought i'd do him a good turn by putting service pack 3 on and now i can't get it to connect to the wireless router. At first it was saying "you are connected to this network" in the list, but still saying "Not connected" in the top right.I thought it may need updated drivers so I have installed everything from the Acer site, including the Atheros Client Utility.
Now, when i use the auto settings it defaults to the ip 169.254.161.135 with the default gateway the same, but my router gateway is 10.1.1.1. so it says it has limited or no connectivity.I try to change the settings manually and everything goes green and says connected but it still wont access the internet or ping the other computers.I have tried resetting the router as I thought it may have been that not resolving DNS addresses but my netbook is connecting to it fine.
I've recently reinstalled a fresh windows xp operating system onto an old laptop. I've been through some trouble getting the drivers installed, but now I've finally completed that.[URL] I cannot connect to my home's WEP secured wireless network to which I have the password. After I followed the steps detailed in the link, instead of saying "detecting network type," the loading bar says "waiting for the network..." and after about 30 seconds, it disappears and nothing happens.I can connect to my router by directly connecting it with an Ethernet cord without a problem. And I know that the laptop is capable of connecting to a wireless network. I was able to connect to a nearby neighbors unsecured wifi, however it was with a very slow connection due to the distance and weak signal. It will just not connect to my own.
