I am unable to access the internet even though my wireless connection shows as active and strong. I tried the connection hard wired, but still no access. I ran a malware detector and removed two items, still no internet availability. What should I do?The trouble shooting device says "Firewall may be preventing your program from running". I have McAffee security system installed.
View 1 RepliesHave completed a Power Cycle.The affected machine is a HP Elite m9150F desktop. The symptoms include the following:
- neither the LAN connection or the wireless connction will access the internet through Internet Explorer
- microsoft email will not send and recieve
- Steam will not connect
- Norton 360 will connect to live update and download
- taskbar icon shows LAN connection is OK
- When I open Network and Sharing, the network map shows this pc is connected to internet through named network.
- Local Area Connection Status show 197,816 bytes sent and 311,088 recieved.
We have 2 laptops connected to the same wireless network working perfectly. There is also another desktop (Dell 8400) with a LAN connection to the router working perfectly. The affected pc (HP m9150f) is also connected to router with a LAN connection. The D-link Dir-615 wireless router is connected to a Shaw Motorolla modem model SB5102. The HP m9150f stopped connecting a few days ago, other than that, it worked fine.how I managed to get 4 computers running on a network in the first place..
I am trying to connect internet through Ethernet LAN .But I am unable to access internet. It says unidentified network with limited connectivity or local only access. But the same connection is working fine on other laptop. I checked the device manager and every looks working fine.In my ipconfig /all details, my Eternet LAN physical address shows all zeroes and has no default gateway address .Also the DNS servers address shows some alphabets instead of numbers.
View 14 Replies View RelatedWe have an RV016 (hardware version 2, firmware version 3.0.2.01) behind a cable modem. Attached to this RV016 is a switch to which our other devices are connected. Among those is another switch, a wireless access point and our VOIP phone system.
The issue with this setup seems to be as follows:
The Mac machines at our office seem to be unable to get internet access reliably. What we have observed is that a connection to the wireless access point is made. Google will load fine, then when performing a search it comes back with either a dns lookup error or just says that the site can't be found. Sometimes sites will load just fine, sometimes they don't. Our Windows or Ubuntu machines in our office hardly ever have that issue, but they do on occasion. Essentially internet is usable on Windows and Ubuntu, but not on a newer Mac. Mainly three Macs are affected that run a newer OS. Two other Macs (older OS) seem to be fine. My coworkers (who have that issue at work) report that at home they do not.
The DNS servers on the router were set to our ISPs addresses. I have since changed them to opendns servers. The issue persists.
When connecting a MacBook directly to the cable modem, everything works fine. Since we are using NAT, I do need to use the router. There are devices attached to it that these users need to be able to get to.
I am working on a network which has two ISP connections (Active/Active) terminating on router (ASR1000). From the LAN side (6500 switch) all the traffic need to be route on ISP1 but some of the specific subnets like 10.250.0.0/16 need to be route on ISP2 connection.
I am planning to use PBR and NAT with route maps. any documents or refrences are provided.

I faced one problem in our core switch 4507 R . Active sup lost connection and standby came active. We got lot of errors/alerts on console shown below. [Code] Also when I reloaded the switch with reload command only both sups got reloaded but I want to reload all the modules but reload command do not gives any options for that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago I tried to install vmware to my toshiba laptop to play around with is and eventually install Windows server 2008 virtually. Well I didnt complete the installation and set up because I forgot to write down the registration key #. Ever since then I have had a terrible time getting my network reconfigured and have tried everything with Verizon network support over the phone. I am now unable to get a valid Ip address or default gateway with either my Wireless or my LAN connections. I have done all types of troubleshooting, resetting netgear router, modem, ip config /reset /renew,netsh winsock reset catalog commands and etc . . . STILL NOTHING WORKS ! I have another machine that is a mac book on my home wirless network that connects just fine, the only problem is my machine. And I have also taken this machine to my job and try connect to the wireless public network and all I get is "limited access" I ran the network test that Kadar provided and this is what I get:

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have 3 desk tops and 1 Laptop. the desk tops are wireless connected via my Xfinity ( cable Modem) and a Trendnet 652- 300 mgb router setup. Recently installed the
Trendnet router ( initially w/o security). I was able to readily connect to and access all pcs to Internet. However, recently went to Trendnet on line site and installed Router password security. Was able to connect and access the Internet on 2 of the 3 desktop pcs as well as the Laptop. However, 1 desktop ( running on Windows XP Professional, 5.1.2600 SVCPK 3, Optiplex G x 60 ) does not permit access to Internet. Once I get to the screen asking for the password ( network key) , I insert same I receive an error message stating "Network key s/b WEP pr a WPA key".
I can not connect to my home wireless network (we did change routers back in Dec and did at that time have problems as well getting it to connect) the router is a Linksys E2000.when I checked further I saw that the IP address was different than the ones on my other laptops so I changed those settings by adding the new IP address..

I am trying to setup a DIR-601 wireless router (Hardware Version: A1 Firmware Version : 1.00NA ) with my connection from Astound.I am able to connect to the internet from the cable modem (Motorola SURFboard SB5101) but I am unable to get it to work through the router. All the lights on the router look ok.When I look at the WAN status from the router setup page I see :

* I noted that the router did not show me the correct time. Is that normal ?I have even copied my laptop's MAC address but it did not work. I restarted the modem and the router a number of times but to no avail.
I have used the WRT54GC (v2.0) router for a few years now, everything worked as smooth as butter, but a few days ago it just stopped detecting the internet connection. Everything works fine with the modem. After resetting the router, I tried to reinstall everything using the setup wizard but at the eleventh step, a pop-up message appears saying that it is "unable to detect the Internet connection" and, like I said previously, the modem works just fine. The username and password for the connection are correct (connection type: PPPoE).

i just bought this router and upgraded the firmware. but i cant seem to get Internet connection up and running. it says connected but its not. tried both 121106 and 121226 firmware, still the same. when i checked the connection it says DNS server not responding.
I have had a problem with my WRT400N wireless Linksys router. Whenever my router restarts or if the DHCP lease expires, I'm unable to connect to internet. During this time I can access the router, but not the internet. Oddly something that seems to "fix" this is if I use my nintendo wii to access my wireless internet at that time, all computers on my network are able to access the internet. However this is annoying to do since this happens once a day from DHCP lease expiring. Using any other computer to attempt to access the internet at this time would be unable to get a connection until I do the "fix" with the Wii. WRT400N

I am planning to share the load and make it active/active making first context active on the primary unit and second context active on the secondary unit. My question is if this will disrupt any connectivity thru these firewalls when I do "no failover" on the active/standby and assign the contexts to different failover groups and enable the failover back.

I followed the set-up instructions to the T but to no avail. I cannot find anything online about these two devices being incompatable. Do I purchase a new modem? I've just received my new TL-WR702N that I want to use as a repeater (downstairs) for my router (upstairs). I've tried the configurations listed on the TP-Link website, but none of them give me internet access. In fact, the local area connection shows the TL-WR702N as an "unidentified network".
I've got a v1 E1000. Lately when I turn on one of my computers, or attempt to connect with my Motorola Xoom tablet it will show connected but I will not have internet access. Initially it will show that I have internet access but not work, then after about 1-2 minutes my PCs will show "No Internet access" for about 2-3 minutes, then it will show "Internet Acess" again and still not load. After that, in about 1-3 minutes the internet will start working and work as good as ever until I disconnect (manually or by turning off my computer) then connect again; the process described avove happens again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently picked up a E4200 to build a dual band network which is targeting to link up (TV, media server, ps3, laptops) then (maintaining phones etc which only has b/g). While currently only laptops.Before doing any of these I have another cisco modem router DPC3825 which worked fine with giving wireless access.I first attemped to leave the modem router has is and connected the E4200 (ethernet 1 to internet), and changed ip to x.x.0.1 and x.x.0.2 while disabling wireless on the dpc3825 and the DCHP on the e4200 and have default gateway to x.x.0.1. My laptops can connect to wireless on E4200 but it couldn't get internet access.
Then I tried turning the modem to bridge mode & resetted E4200 (factory setting x.x.1.1, auto DHCP), and then connected my devices to both wireless bands. At this point I see router status obtained ip from ISP and Internet reached full speed per ISP's mark but the connection only held up for about 1 minutes. I noticed all the devices still maintained connection to router wirelessly but the router loses internet connection (lost the ip and couldn't get it back).
Purchased E2500 1 week ago. I do not have a problem communicating with the router itself (either hard wired or wireless) but I have been unable to establish a usable internet connection from the router.I live in building that is wired by Restech Services - Ethernet jack in wall - no modem. Connection works just fine if I bypass router and connect directly to PC (windows XP SP3 desktop or windows 7 laptop.),Very difficult to establish any internet connection at all. I have to renew IP address many times or go through re-boot sequence multiple times. Once I get a connection it is unusable. If I attempt to ping a URL (either from PC or from router admin page) it is unable to resolve host. If I ping an IP directly (either from PC or router administrator page) I typically get 60 to 80% packet loss. As noted, if I bypass router and make internet connection directly to PC - no problems - no packet loss.Used Cisco Connect software to set up. On advice of ISP changed MTU from 1500 to 1300. Also registered MAC id with ISP and changed from cloning PC MAC to using the router MAC. Downloaded and installed latest firmware version. Did factory reset and re-configured the whole thing. Double checked and swapped wiring.

i want to block all internet access on all my computers from the time range of 9 PM to 8 PM. Yes, that gives 1 hour of internet access per day. However, it seems that there are certain rules of the router that won't let me do this. It seems I can't make 2 different policies for PC's within the same IP range (192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.254) , it gives me the error: "The values you entered are invalid. Please try again."every time I try to do so. And when I try to give the time range from 9 PM to 8 PM it gives an error stating that the end time must be bigger than start time. I am using the WRT54GL with firmware v4.30.7.

I have created discreet Vlan's and setup subinterfaces on both the WLAN_AP0 and GigaEthernet 0 interfaces with dot1q encapsulation. The client will receive an IP from the pool but cannot ping or connect beyond the default gateway.
The external interface is using Nat overload and all wired clients are successful in connecting to outside addresses. I have insert a permit any statement in the acl which affects the external port but still no success.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving problems with my wireless router, dropping and keeping connection active. For some odd reason I keep dropping connection either wireless or wired. I have a total of 5 items going through this router. 2 of them are wireless and the other 3 are wired. The wireless items are a desktop computer that is using the Wireless USB adapter to get online. Sometimes it drops and most of the time it doesn’t have any problems. I have a laptop that sometimes the connection goes from strong all the way down to no connection at ALL. It starts at 54MBPS to down to the RED X over the wireless manager. Forgot to mention both of these machines are Windows XP. If I reboot the laptop, it comes up without any problems.
Sometimes I tell Windows XP to manage the Wireless connection and tell it to disconnect and re-connect again, it goes. Now for the wired items, I have 2 gaming systems and another computer plugged directly up to the router. For some odd reason when I double click on the internet, on the computer that is hooked directly to the router, it says page couldn’t be found. I know that there is connection and there is nothing running in the task tray except for the Anti-Virus and Firewall. The browsers that I am using are Internet Explorer 8 and Mozilla Firefox 3.0.10. Also checked on the back of the machine to see if I have link lights and everything is flashing. Finally, when I click the homepage or refresh button about 2 or 3 times, it goes through.
think that I am overloading this Router and it can’t handle it. I might have to look into sending "Keep Alive" packet setting on the router.
I rebooted my modem and now I have not internet access on my wireless connection. The internet works fine on my 3 computers I have connected to cables and my wireless devises have a good wifi signal, but no internet access.

According to the IT people this is a feature of VPN for security reasons and there is no way to access those drives.Anyone knows if there is a way to connect to the VPN drive and the local LAN drives without getting the LAN drives disconnected?

On a recent remote site visit we made a connection to our main office using ver 4.9 of the Cisco VPN Client for OS X. While we were working on a server, the macbook went to sleep shutting down the network interface the VPN Client was using.
From that point forward we were unable establish any layer 3 connectivity to the LAN in out main office using that PIX as a VPN head end. Any connections that were attempted to that firewall would complete and be assigned a client IP from the correct pool but without access to the LAN on the inside interface.
We tested this from multiple external locations using multiple systems, cleared SA's and even debugged IKE and IPSEC using an alternate connection method. There were no errors reported on the firewall but there was also no connectivity.
I have a new PC with Intel DH55HC motherboard and running windows 7 32 bit. I have attempted to install the drivers from Intel and redone the BIOS settings as well. Nothing seems to work.
