Cisco Wireless :: 891W Guest Vlan Wi-Fi Unable To Access Internet

Apr 8, 2013

Any issue creating a guest vlan to use the WIFI on an 891W router? The IOS is version 15.1.  I have created discreet Vlan's and setup subinterfaces on both the WLAN_AP0 and GigaEthernet 0 interfaces with dot1q encapsulation. The client will receive an IP from the pool but cannot ping or connect beyond the default gateway.

The external interface is using Nat overload and all wired clients are successful in connecting to outside addresses. I have insert a permit any statement in the acl which affects the external port but still no success.

Cisco Wireless :: WLC 5508 / Guest VLAN Unable To Get DHCP IP Address From Anchor Controller

Feb 23, 2012

In our test set up, we have two WLC 5508 Controllers connected via Checkpoint UTM-1 firewall Inside and DMZ Interfaces. Both the WLC controllers are connected to the firewall via Cisco 3750 switch. On the Local (Inside) Controller, guest SSID is enabled and attached to the wireless management Interface. On the remote anchor controller, guest SSID is enabled and attached to the Management Interface as well. The following configs are replicated on both the Controllers.

SSID Name - guest
Interface - Management ( VLAN 10 on Local and VLAN 20 on remote) -
Mobility Group: Same configs at both ends
SSID Anchor : Anchor SSID on local and local SSID on Anchor.
AP: CAPWAP 3502 Management Subnet

[code]....

Is there any thing missing in the wireless configs and or the firewall rules as i could not see DHCP request back from the Anchor Controller. Also, after DHCP is obtained, the web authentication request will be redirected to an Amigopod device for authentication. In this case is the redirect URL congiguration to be performed only on the Anchor Controller or is this to be replicated on both the Local and Anchor Controllers.

Cisco WAN :: Setup VLAN In ASA5510 For Guest Wireless Access?

Feb 10, 2012

I am running a /24 network in Active Directory with my ASA acting as gateway and firewall.  Standard interfaces (Ethernet 0/0 as outside, Ethernet 0/1 as inside)

As of now I have no VLans set up, but I need to setup wireless Internet access for guests...  I need directions on how to setup a Vlan with its on DHCP for these aguests...  I can then make sure that my APs can be pointed to the same VLAN...  I am not familiar with CLI, have generally used ASDM. I am currently running ASDM 6.3(1) on an ASA with version 8.3(1).

This is something I need to do quickly as we are expecting 20-40 "guests" shortly, and I don't want them to use our internal DHCP server addresses.

Cisco :: 3750 / Autonomous Wireless Access Point / Dot1x And Guest VLAN?

The main point is that internal users cannot access vlan 3 as they have a valid certificate and that guests do not have to authenticate.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: SG-300 Vlan Unable To Access Internet

Apr 1, 2013

I am using a Cisco SG-300 28 port switch in layer 3 mode as my default gateway for all my devices. I have two vlans on the switch, vlan 1 and vlan 4. Both are pulling valid IP addresses in their scope from the DHCP server, and both have valid DNS settings. I set a static route to the Internet on the switch to our firewall (192.168.5.254). All devices connected to vlan 1 are able to access the Internet, however all devices connected to vlan 4 cannot get past the switch. A tracert from one of these devices shows it hits the switch as the gateway, but gets no further. [code]

Opening a connection to integrated AP801 wireless device for performing wireless configuration tasks, the connection is established OK, authentication is passed OK using credentials from main configuration file, gaining level 15 privileges with enable command, but after that... no way to enter "Global Configuration mode" because there are no "configure" family commands present!!! Simply can't say "Conf t" because there is no such command!

Vlan Setup For Separating Guest Wifi Access From Lan

Mar 26, 2013

I have registered here to clarify some things about VLAN's. There are so many (different) names and mentions that i found tat my vision gets blurry looking through all the info.I have a setup at a client where the Guest WiFi access needs to be separated from the normal LAN where all the normal devices are attached to. The guests are not allowed to reach the IP camera's and printer etc. etc. . I am trying to visualize how the traffic should flow but the Tagged, Untagged, PVID, Trunks and other names that i found make it difficult for me to see how it works together.

Cisco :: Adding Guest VLAN To 1240s Access Points?

Jun 23, 2012

I have some Cisco 1240 Access Points which are not centrally managed.  I want to add 802.1Q trunking so as to be able to provision a guest VLAN.  But a trick is that these APs are in some very high ceilings.  I would like to provision the new trunking and guest VLAN without having to remove them from the ceiling.  Someone suggested I just make the native VLAN save as existing and make the port to which attaches a trunked port.  But when I did this I lost connectivity to the Access Point.  Access came back as soon as I made the switch port an access port.  how I can add the trunking and guest VLAN without having to get into the ceilings to remove them and configure them via console or other?

Cisco WAN :: 891W / Using Private IP To Simulate ISP - Unable To Ping WAN IPs

Jun 21, 2012

i have a home lab network that is connected to my internet.   I basically have a linksys router connected to cable modem and in order for my families internet to not go down while testing and learning my CCNA I am trying to treat the Linksys as the ISP.

1. Plugged my 891W router via FASTETHERNET 8 (192.168.1.10)  into LAN Switch port 1 of my Linksys E4200 home router(192.168.1.1).

2. I plugged my 891W Gigabit 0 (10.10.10.1) LAN side into my 2950 Catalyst Switch (10.10.10.5 - VLAN 1)

3. my 2950 Catalyst switch (10.10.10.5 - Vlan 1) is plugged into my 2600 series router via the routers FE port (10.10.10.2).

There is a few more routers connected behind r2 but I am not dealing with them right now and there is also a switch connected into s1 but its not being used for this.

891w is labled r1
2950 is labled s1
2600 is labeled r2

I am running RIP Verison 2 for my network protocol.

r1 information below

I can ping all over my homelab everything I can reach as long as I have a protocol up but I cannot reach the WAN IPs.  I watched video by Jeremy Ciorara and I tried to follow the wan and nat part from a website [URL] And none of its working.  I am not sure if this is a case where a private IP cannot function as a ISP and I am breaking some rule thats not mentioned in CCNA studies or if its something else. I tried these commands from Jeremy Video:

r1(config)#ip access-list standard "NAT_ADDRESSES"
 r1(config-std-nacl)#permit any
r1(config)ip nat inside source list NAT_ADDRESSES interface fastEthernet 8 overload

However they did not work it was pretty close to whats in the basic website up there I listed as well. I think I went back to the basic configuration in the config file post above.  Its really frustrating as I follow directions and they do not seem to work. I understand I am using my private 192.168.1.0 subnet as an ISP and maybe that has something to do with it but when yoru first learning and things dont work its kind of overwelming as you have problems seeing the big picture and dont yet trust in things you have learned as they are unfamiliar so its easy to get lost.

Cisco Wireless :: RV180W - Internet Access Not Available On WAP Guest Network

Mar 6, 2013

We have the RV180W router and the WAP321 access point in our business. We want to broadcast two SSIDs from both locations: the office SSID, which shares routing to LAN traffic, and a guest SSID.The office computers are attached via ethernet to a switch off of LAN port 1 on the router. The AP is attached to LAN port 2 on the router. On the router, the office SSID and the LAN are members of VLAN 1. The guest network is a member of VLAN 2. From the router, everything works just fine.On the WAP, the staff SSID works fine, but the guest SSID has no internet. Both the office and guest networks get DHCP successfully from the router. Our VLAN membership table in the router and WAP are attached, as well as other configuration details. Why would we not be getting internet on the guest ID only on the WAP?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 891W ISR - Can't Access Internal AP

Jan 26, 2012

I have an 891W router that requires a firmware update to fix a bug wth the internal AP where all you get when accessing it via the CP Express ("Launch Wireless Application", which is  just opening another web browser to your AP) is an Enter button.  This issue seems to be common so I found a thread, though for the 881W (but same process) where the fix is to update the AP's firmware.

So I downloaded ap801-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.JY.tar from cisco.com, set it up in my tftp server, and at the console ran the following from the router:

Router#service-module wlan-ap 0 session <enter>

This brings me to the AP.

I then type in:

InternalAP#archive download-sw /force-reload /overwrite tftp://192.168.0.71/filename.tar <enter>

It seems to go through the process of re-imaging the fw but the end result now after it is done is that I cannot access the ap at all and the hostname has been screwed up.  So now when I go to the AP (via Router#service-module wlan-ap 0 session <enter>), this is what I see:

AP6400.f177.d0ee>

If I type "enable", I get no username prompt but I do get a password prompt, however my pw no longer works.  Also the IP address of the AP (192.168.0.2=) is no longe rpingable.

I did save the log of the console session for the (failed??) firmware upgrade process - the only odd thing I recall was that it seemed like it was trying to enter part of the update process commands but instead the router was interpreting them as a DNS lookup or something.  Kind of stupid process it seems but anyway I am quite lost.  Don't know what it'ssuch a challenge to update firmware.

Guest Internet Access - Multiple Access Points?

Here is my setup:

Netgear WNDR3700 - Main router, DHCP turned on
4x Netgear WNR2000 - Setup as Access Points (DHCP turned off), connected to main router via LAN ports

I only want the guest network to have internet access. I have the guest network enabled on the router and access points with the option to "Allow Guest network to access main network" disabled. My problem is that since the access points aren't hooked directly to my modem via the WAN port, the guest network broadcasted from the access points does not have internet access.I have read up on setting up a separate subnet for the guest network using DD-WRT but was curious if there was a way to get the desired result with the stock Netgear firmware.

Home Network :: How To Allow Guest Access For Internet Use Only

Apr 22, 2012

I'm a member of a club and we have just got BT Business Broadband with BT Business Hub 3. The club has one WiFi laptop which will occasionally access the BT Hub 3 using WiFi for internet use only. So essentially we have no network as such, just the BT Hub and a laptop.I would like to allow some club members to have internet access (WPA2 password), but without allowing access to the club laptop in any wayAs I said previously, the club laptop will only be active occasionally, so actual exposure is limited, but ideally I would like for the club laptop to be invisible to others when it is connected. I would also like each members equipment to be hidden from each other, so nobody can access each others data etc.. Can I achieve this simply? If so, do I need extra equipment?

I do have some donated equipment available: Netgear WAG102 Wireless Access Point, D-Link DSL-2640R Broadband Wireless G ADSL2+ Router and US Robotics 9106 SureConnect ADSL Wireless Gateway. Could I use any or all of these?I know this donated equipment is only Wireless G, but speed for the members is not important as they will only use internet access for emails and occasional google searches etc.I've tested the WAG102 at home, by plugging it into a LAN port of my BT HomeHub3 and giving it a different SSID, which works OK, but I can still see the other equipment connected wirelessly to my BT HomeHub3, although I cannot access my home laptop etc. because they are password protected.

Cisco Firewall :: 2901 / ASA 5510 Guest Internet Access?

Jan 15, 2012

I have a subnet for guest network access, both wired and wireless.  We have a Netgear ProSafe that is trunked to a Cisco 2901 performing 'Router-on-a-Stick'.  For most internal traffic, it all stays behind the ASA.  But for guest traffic, I have a route-map that sets the next-hop address as the outside interface of the ASA.  The question is, how can I still permit those users to access our internal DNS servers?  Do I need any particular NAT translations, exemptions, DNS doctoring, hairpinning, etc.?  I have an ACL on the inside interface that permits traffic from the guest networks to our internal DNS servers, and then the next ACL line denies any other traffic from the guest networks to any of our internal networks.

Cisco Wireless :: 2504 Client Unable To Get IP Address On Guest Wlan

Feb 23, 2013

I recently setup a 2504 WLC that has two primary WLANs (internal and guest) which get their IP addresses from a central DHCP server using the local router's broadcast forwarding.  Things seem to be working well for the internal wlan, but clients on the guest wlan don't seem to be getting IP addresses.  If I give the client a static IP they are able to communicate across the wlan okay.

It is worth noting that I am using LAG between the controller and router and this guest wlan is really just a regular wlan (with PSK) that has an access-list applied to force it to the internet only.  The access-list should be allowing dhcp requests through, but in any case, I removed the access-list and it made no difference.

Here is a debug client for a machine connected to the guest vlan (vlan 33).  The internal wlan is on the 10.10.10.0/24 network (same as wired and same that the AP's are connected to) and the guest wlan is 10.33.0.0/16. I don't understand why I am seeing the dhcp request come from the internal vlan/ wlan first and it gets an IP address on this network.  I then see a request on the guest wlan/vlan at which point it appears to get a valid IP address on the guest network (10.33.0.0), but the client never sees this.   [code]
