I have several drives that are accessed through a LAN but as soon as I connet to another drive through VPN all the drives get disconnected. According to the IT people this is a feature of VPN for security reasons and there is no way to access those drives.Anyone knows if there is a way to connect to the VPN drive and the local LAN drives without getting the LAN drives disconnected?

The Folders are shared on the network the shared folders were working fine but suddenly i was unable to access these folders .I tried to Map the network drives by IP address that is ""\ipaddressshare""of the NAS server but was unable to do so. It Gave me an error message ""No Logon Servers are currently available"" . But when i put my server Name that is ""\servernameshare "" i am able to map the folders. Why am i unable to access my shared folders on the NAS server by IP address . I have checked the IP adress connectivity and everything but it is all fine .I can even ping by ip address of the NAS serve
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am migrating my home network from a desktop centric environment to a mobile centric and taking mydesktop off line in the near future and instead relying on my tablet and laptop computers. I have two external hard drives that are currently connected to the desktop and a printer on the desktop. I believe that I need a NAS adapter and a print sever to connect the drives and the printer to the network rather than to the desktop compuer, which is going away. How then do I identify the drves and the printer when they are directly connected to the network? Is that something I do when I install the NAS adapter and print server?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to have an old G5 tower running OS X 10.5 (Leopard) which I was using as a file server. In this tower I had a USB dock connected where I could plug in 2.5 inch drives from my archive and then access them over the network by connecting to the G5.
Last week I upgraded my "fileserver" and I am running OS X Mountain Lion Server on a regular Mac Pro tower. When I connect to my new fileserver via Finder I am only able to see the local hard drives but none of the external ones. I can add a share-point for the external drives but that is not very practical since I am always connecting different drives from the archive.
So what I would like to have is that when I plug in an external drive to my file server it shows up in the network shares without me having to create a share-point for every different drive I connect.
I have a Linksys WRT54GL Router. I'm open to getting another router if it won't suit my needs.Which firmware should I install?Which version/build of the firmware?Any additional modifications I should make to the firmware?
Requirements:Connect an external hard drive to the router, so that any devices connected to the router can access files from the hard drive.Run an FTP server (with SSH) on the router, so files on the external hard-drive can be accessed from anywhere.Run VPN, so that certain computers can access the hard drives over VPN.Run a BitTorrent client on the router with the files stored on the external hard drive.
Similar to this issue with the EA4500 - I have the same issue with maping the drives from both PC and Mac - the USB drive is recognized, admin/user names are coreated appropriately, the folder structure is imported into the admin control..similar issue with EA4500 user here
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently purchased an EA4500 router and it is connected to the Internet. One of the reasons we purchased this router was to take advantage of the usb port (only 2.0 unfortunately) to be able to share media across the network. I spent over two hours on the phone (4/16/2012) with Linksys Tech support trying to get this feature to work. When using a little flashdrive I can easily find the connected usb device. However, when trying to connect to an external hard drive, it will not connect. I tried three different external hard drives, a Western Digital 500 GB Elements drive, a Western Digital 2 TB My Book Elements drive and even a portable 1.5 TB Seagate FreeAgent drive. Every drive had the same result. In fact after plugging each one into the EA4500 and then selecting Safely Eject and then plugging them into my computer, each one had to go through the Fix process in order to work again. I tried this several times. Linksys Tech Support could not get it to work either, and they even used remote access. When going into the web interface of the EA4500, the router sees the external drives attached to it. However, only the little 16GB flash drive can be seen by the computer. I know there is a list for approved devices that work with a different device, the E4200 [URL]
It looks like my devices are there but nonetheless its not working. Really not sure why the router can see all of the devices but only the computer can see the flash drive.
The official List of tested USB storage devices for the Linksys E4200 is so short, and the fine print "If your USB storage device is not listed on the table, it is not guaranteed to work with the router" is very discouraging. Let's create the community-based list of tested External Hard Drives for the Linksys E4200? Post here the brand / model of your external hard drive which works well with your E4200. State Firmware version as well. My Toshiba 640GB Canvio® USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive (Toshiba P/N e05a064cau2xr, M/N 593400-b), when connected to E4200 Firmware v1.0.03 (Build 14), stops the router's both wired and wireless connection after a couple of hours.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup my home network so that I can access it when away from home but I've ran into problems and I can't figure out what is causing the problem.I've setup the router to forward incoming requests on port 80 to be directed to my PC running WAMP. The PC has a static IP and if I access it from another PC on my network I get the WAMP page load as expected.I've also setup an account with no-ip.com to resolve my (dynamic) ip. If I use the address they have setup while I'm on my network I get the login page for the router, again this is what I expect.The problem begins when I try and access my home address (whatever.no-ip.biz) from outside my network. I've tried it from 2 different locations and via a dial-up account and I get nothing.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a issue that i am at a loss as how to solve it. I have an ASA 5505 as my firewall. I have users from other companies who visit from time to time and are unable to use their outlook email to send messages. They can however receive messages without a problem. I also have a situation where users who use windows live to access gmail are unable to send messages.
I have narrowed it down to the fact that these uses are using ssl/tls to send the mails. I did some research and found out about the inspect esmtp setting in the ASA. I have disabled it and i still have to problem. I have also removed all outbound deny statements and still no luck.
Of note is that i can send emails without attachments. They take a long time to go out ( from minutes to hours) but eventually they do. Emails with attachments of even 10k do not go at all.
I was running image 8.2.3 and i downgraded to 8.0.5...still did not work...i upgraded to 8.4.3...still did not work. I am now back at 8.2.3.
My Firewall config is attached. I am at my wits end as to what else to try. The company has not renewed support for the device so i am on my own here!
I configured a new Asa 5505 with Ios 8.44-1-k8.bin and when I installed the Asa the client's after about 1 hour were unable to ping or map drives to the Asa. I got the following error,%ASA-2-106007: Deny inbound UDP from XXXX to XXXX due to DNS Query. I added the command same-security-traffic permit intra-interface they were then able to ping the server and connect to the Internet, but still unable to map drives i could see the connections from the Pc's to the server in a show conn with was tcp port 445 with Saa? I reverted back to Ios 8.25 and everything works.

The computer is suddenly unable to connect to the internet via wireless, but can connect perfectly fine with a cord. Also whenever I restart it says unable to reconnect all network drives.The computer is a Dell Latitude D630 Laptop running windows vista ultimate 32 bit, the network card is a Dell Wireless 1395 wlan mini-card.I took it over to some other places to see if it was just my router, which is a linksys e3000 and to no avail it still could not connect. I tried doing some system restores and that did not work either.

However, I purchased a wireless router and simply plugged this into the main router which allows internet access but does not allow access to other wired computers. If I directly plug the server into this wireless router with this router being wired to the main router, then the wired computers cannot access the server. It's as if it creates its own little network. So, I connected this directly to the main router which gives internet access but nothing else.
(Note: I cannot simply install a new main router.)
I believe I need a wireless access point, but I'm not certain.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a file server running windows 2003 and five computers (1 windows 7, 4 windows xp-sp3).There are two shares on the server.When the router is setup with wpa2, three of the windows xp machines will have problems with mapped drives. Directly after the drives are mapped, everything works, but 10 or so hours later, users can no longer access these mapped drives and there is no way to reconnect them it seems.The other two machines (windows 7 and one windows xp machine) have no problems whatsoever.
The only thing that the three computers have in common is that they are also sharing a printer (an hp j4680) attached to one windows xp machine (not the server).If I set everything to wpa, everything works fine, but of course my wireless network speeds drop to 56mbps.
I had an unusual circumstance come up on an older PIX 525 (6.3(5))
On a recent remote site visit we made a connection to our main office using ver 4.9 of the Cisco VPN Client for OS X. While we were working on a server, the macbook went to sleep shutting down the network interface the VPN Client was using.
From that point forward we were unable establish any layer 3 connectivity to the LAN in out main office using that PIX as a VPN head end. Any connections that were attempted to that firewall would complete and be assigned a client IP from the correct pool but without access to the LAN on the inside interface.
We tested this from multiple external locations using multiple systems, cleared SA's and even debugged IKE and IPSEC using an alternate connection method. There were no errors reported on the firewall but there was also no connectivity.
Have completed a Power Cycle.The affected machine is a HP Elite m9150F desktop. The symptoms include the following:
- neither the LAN connection or the wireless connction will access the internet through Internet Explorer
- microsoft email will not send and recieve
- Steam will not connect
- Norton 360 will connect to live update and download
- taskbar icon shows LAN connection is OK
- When I open Network and Sharing, the network map shows this pc is connected to internet through named network.
- Local Area Connection Status show 197,816 bytes sent and 311,088 recieved.
We have 2 laptops connected to the same wireless network working perfectly. There is also another desktop (Dell 8400) with a LAN connection to the router working perfectly. The affected pc (HP m9150f) is also connected to router with a LAN connection. The D-link Dir-615 wireless router is connected to a Shaw Motorolla modem model SB5102. The HP m9150f stopped connecting a few days ago, other than that, it worked fine.how I managed to get 4 computers running on a network in the first place..
I am trying to connect internet through Ethernet LAN .But I am unable to access internet. It says unidentified network with limited connectivity or local only access. But the same connection is working fine on other laptop. I checked the device manager and every looks working fine.In my ipconfig /all details, my Eternet LAN physical address shows all zeroes and has no default gateway address .Also the DNS servers address shows some alphabets instead of numbers.
View 14 Replies View RelatedWe have two sites, Site-A with a ASA 5520 (Remote Access IPSEC VPN server) at one end and a new ASA 5515-X at Site-B. Users at Site-B are unable to establish a VPN connection to Site-A via Cisco VPN client from behind the new ASA 5515-X. They see the following error:
"Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the client.
Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding.
They are able to access the same from home or elsewhere so I believe there is nothing wrong with Site-A ASA vpn config which we have been using for a while now. The new 5515-X (version 8.6) has a very basic config with all outbound traffic allowed. I'm pasting the config below. Do I need to enable/allow anything for it to work?

I am unable to access the internet even though my wireless connection shows as active and strong. I tried the connection hard wired, but still no access. I ran a malware detector and removed two items, still no internet availability. What should I do?The trouble shooting device says "Firewall may be preventing your program from running". View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have an RV016 (hardware version 2, firmware version 3.0.2.01) behind a cable modem. Attached to this RV016 is a switch to which our other devices are connected. Among those is another switch, a wireless access point and our VOIP phone system.
The issue with this setup seems to be as follows:
The Mac machines at our office seem to be unable to get internet access reliably. What we have observed is that a connection to the wireless access point is made. Google will load fine, then when performing a search it comes back with either a dns lookup error or just says that the site can't be found. Sometimes sites will load just fine, sometimes they don't. Our Windows or Ubuntu machines in our office hardly ever have that issue, but they do on occasion. Essentially internet is usable on Windows and Ubuntu, but not on a newer Mac. Mainly three Macs are affected that run a newer OS. Two other Macs (older OS) seem to be fine. My coworkers (who have that issue at work) report that at home they do not.
The DNS servers on the router were set to our ISPs addresses. I have since changed them to opendns servers. The issue persists.
When connecting a MacBook directly to the cable modem, everything works fine. Since we are using NAT, I do need to use the router. There are devices attached to it that these users need to be able to get to.
I have a 1760-v router set up at my home lab and I am unable to access IP addresses outside my local network. I have my Cisco router's fast Ethernet port connected to a small net gear router which then connects to my cable modem. The Cisco router is able to ping local address fine, but when I try to ping an outside address or domain name it times out. However, when I am at the CLI and type something like Ping { URL}, it resolves Google's IP address but it will not ping it. I have IP DEFAULT-GATEWAY and IP NAME-SERVER both pointing to my net gear router and pointing to my ISP's DNS server.

I've disabled UPnP, disabled DHCP, changed the LAN IP address to an available address on the network. The wireless works, devices are getting an IP from the network DHCP server and can surf the internet. But the DLink router itself cannot ping any external IP addresses. I would like to be able to access mail.example.com internally for our user's smartphones - if they access our company WiFi they are not able to get mail using the mail.example.com as the server name in their phone setups. However, once they leave the office and use any other WiFi it works fine. Also, I am unable to ping that address from any internal device. I believe also this is the reason Exchange accounts do not work on our site to site VPN connections.
I have a ASA 5520 and work primarily in the ASDM 6.4 to do configurations in the main office and have 5510 in our site to site connections.
Just updated to the 1.01 firmware on my DIR-815 and now it doesn't handle loopbacks anymore.
For instance, I have a dyndns address of ericnewton76.dyndns.org. This points to my router. Works fine if you're NOT within the router's internal network, ie, outside hosts can get in just fine (try it... http:// , you'll see an IIS7 welcome screen)
However, when INSIDE the network, the requests don't get connected properly, and they used to... ie, I work with code, so my svn repo is at ericnewton76.dyndns.org/svn but inside my network it doesn't connect properly anymore (whereas it used to before firmware update)
So now I wish I could back-peddle to 1.0 firmware.
I recently bought EA3500 router. I am not able to hook up 2 storage external HDD and 1 USB printer usnig the router.I am connecting all 3 to a USB hub which i am connecting to the router.

I configured Vlan1 (inside) and Vlan2(outside) and all seems to work correctly. Network clients can use Internet and ping internal LAN. But I've some problems with vpn and other services: 1. when I try to connect to external VPN server the connection procedure stopped in username/password validation (if I try directly, without firewall ASA, there's no problem) 2.I've problems also to see external security cam working trough a web server. I open port 1723 - 500 and GRE. What can I do more?
