I have got a new laptop from work and I cannot get our home wireless to connect. It works on our phones and we can use our neighbours laptop with it but just not ours. It is showing that our wireless is an option but we cannot get onto the internet, page cannot be found/no connection messages come up!

View 11 Replies View RelatedI am unable to connect to my home wifi from my laptop but it connects fine at work. All other devices (2 androids and 1 laptop) are able to connect to the home network. My laptop used to connect intermittently earlier - sometime the connection would be restored when i reset the router or restarted the laptop but now I'm just not able to at all. The message i get is either "Limited Access" or "Unidentified Network. No internet access" - the signal strength always is excellent. I have tried switching off and on the wireless router, have disabled and then enabled the wireless connec on the laptop, have reconfigured the wireless network on the router with a new network name and password but nothing works. However I am able to connect to the internet using the network cable - there were a few times where I couldn't do that either. I've tried browsing on several forums to get answers but haven't found any yet. [code]

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a new router - WRTP54G . I used to have our 2 machines on a home network. However, that is all gone now. When I open My Network Places on my pc, nothing at all appears. On the other pc only the shared folders on that pc appears. I've tried running the network wizard several times and to no avail. I've checked the permissions and everything else I can think of, but it still doesn't work. I believe it is probably something simple to fix, like checking the right box, but I haven't found it yet. Both machines are running XP Home and I have an external drive attached to my pc. Everything worked fine till the installation of this new router. Should I just create a new network? Would that just be easier? One more thing, I got the error that says Home is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact admin of this server to find out if you have access permission. The network path was not found. Of course, I am the admin.

It has been working for the last 8 months, and stopped working after I installed Direct TV App on Ipad..It detects the network, but not accepts the PW.... I have multiple wireless devicess connected to my network without any problems..The funny thing is that my neighbor brings his ipad to my house and he is able to connect..My ipad connects to any other network...just not my home network.. I contacted Apple who spend hours with me on the phone and suggested doing a full reset on the ipad, but still did not solve the problem..I called and already paid for linksys support ($62.95) who spend hours with me on the phone, but suggesting: "maybe you need to buy another router"...REALLY!!!! Again, I have 3 Smart TVs, Xbox360, and Wii, that are connected to the network just fine .even my neibor comes with his Ipad3 and connects to my network just fine......and I can connect with my ipad to any other network without any problems... BTW, I have already removed the DirectTV app from the ipad....but I still cannot connect to my network..

Well I didnt complete the installation and set up because I forgot to write down the registration key #. Ever since then I have had a terrible time getting my network reconfigured and have tried everything with Verizon network support over the phone. I am now unable to get a valid Ip address or default gateway with either my Wireless or my LAN connections. I have a wireless router that was named and all the wireless equipment (laptop, ipod, phones) was connecting easily with no problems. Everything is saying "unable to connect". I have no clue what she did but she said her laptop asked her for the 8 number code from the router and she entered it.

My dad is using a netgear router DG834G V2 and has no problem until recently. He got a new phone and wanted to connect wirelessly but couldn't remember is network key. After playing around with things he's obviuosley changed something and now has no internet what so ever.
I've tried plugging in the eternet cable and accessing 192.168.0.1 but can't see any problems there. When i am able to get a connection it's local only and Internet explorer can't display web pages. And when i unplug the ethernet cable it doesn't always find the wireless connection, and if it does find it, then i have the same problem as when the lead is plugged in.
His ISP is AOL although he doesn't always access the internet via aol, he'll use IE and i'm trying to get him to give firefox a go.
I have tried disabled both windows firewall and AVG firewall and individually but still keep getting the message internet explorer cannot display webpage.

I have a new Inspiron 7520 and having issues with connecting to my secure network. In trying to troubleshoot the issue, I've discovered I can connect to my network when the connection is unsecured. When its encrypted, my connection is only limited (no IP address assign). I've also downloaded and installed the latest drivers with no resolution to my issue.

I have had a problem with my WRT400N wireless Linksys router. Whenever my router restarts or if the DHCP lease expires, I'm unable to connect to internet. During this time I can access the router, but not the internet. Oddly something that seems to "fix" this is if I use my nintendo wii to access my wireless internet at that time, all computers on my network are able to access the internet. However this is annoying to do since this happens once a day from DHCP lease expiring. Using any other computer to attempt to access the internet at this time would be unable to get a connection until I do the "fix" with the Wii. WRT400N

After recently having a new BT home hub 3.0 installed in our house my computer is unable to connect to the internet. Everything else connects laptops, PlayStation, iPod's just this one computer doesn't.
When the computer is turned on the wireless connection manager says that it is connected and then very quickly loses it again. After reconnecting the computer and trying to go on the internet, explorer says that it is not connected and i can not go to any websites.
Leaving the computer running, the wireless network establishes a link, with full signal strength and then loses it again just as quick. This will just continue for as long as the computer is on.
Computers is not a strength of mine but when trying to repair the connection the computer stops at 'renewing IP address' and does nothing. The only other message i have seen is- 'status: acquiring network address' this never completes and the link is quickly lost.
I have a sky router (Netgear DG834GT), which i have connected a secound router to which is a D link DIR-615 (with DD wrt firmware D4).I can get access to the sky router remotely without any issues even when changing the port number. its the Dlink router i cannot get access to remotely (within the network i can by typing in the dlink's ip address and works). Main router Sky router IP is 192.168.0.1 - Currently the port number is 8081.Secondary router Dlink IP is 192.168.0.2 (Static ip) - currently the port number is 8080.I have tried to configure the ports but it just dont want to open. Ive tried to open the ports on main netgear and tried all the option my dlink for port forwarding. i must be missing something fundametal here.

This router has my desktop computer and windows 2012 server plugged into it. The server is a domain controller that has the following roles installed: DHCP, DNS, ADDS, IIS, and Remote Access. My Windows 7 Professional desktop is joined to the domain controller. The wireless router serves my netbook, smartphones, and ipods. They do not authenticate with the DC but do get a DHCP ip address from the server.I have my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone that I'd like to be able to use to VPN into my network. Here is what I have done;Disabled the DHCP service on the router. Setup port forwarding to forward PPTP to my server's static IP address on port 1723.I created a user on my DC for this purpose and enabled the account for network dialup service.I created a DHCP Relay Agent in the Remote Access MMC.I opened up the Remote Access app on the server's firewall.On my phone I setup a 'New VPN Connection...' I use the username/password of the user I created for this purpose. I put in my ip address that I have from my ISP.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got back from vacation and suddenly can't connect to my Wifi network at home with my netbook anymore. It says validating identity but never connects. When I try to repair the connection, it keeps authenticating and then says that windows is unable to find a certificate to log me on to the network. I did some googling and it was suggested to uncheck the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network box under the Authentication tab in Wireless Network properties. I tried that but then I get an error message saying "The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration".I have no idea what to do or what the problem is. My other laptop works fine from which I have set up this network works fine. My phone seems to work fine, too. I already restarted the router and my netbook but that didn't work either.

My friend allows me to use the wifi by sharing the password. My friend's computer is a MacBook. But I cannot access wifi! Why is that? About 3 months ago my parents changed the wifi password and so my laptop was unable to connect to our home internet, and I never bothered to fix it. It's been 3 months and now when I need to connect, it won't. The network appears in the list of detected networks, i correctly typed in the new requirements of the SSID, and when i press 'connect' it instantly pops up with 'Windows was unable to connect to XXXXXXX'. The modem is from Netgear. I've tried switching the modem off and on, the wireless activation swith on my laptop off and on, the Fn+F5 for wireless and bluetooth off and on, reinstalled drivers etc.I know its not a problem with my modem as wifi works for other mobile devices (like my iphone, other laptops etc), and my laptop has no problem connecting to the uni wifi network. There only seems to be a problem with connecting my laptop to the home network. Perhaps i've tried fiddling around with the 'properties' of the network too much and I've accidentally changed some settings i was not supposed to? how to restore the wireless settings of this network 'back to default' or in the state it was when i was able to connect.

We could usually access the netgear wirelessly on our laptops Dell and Acer Aspire 4820T (both Windows 7) without any problems and were still doing so last night. However hubby attempted to install the new router last night and all seemed to go fine but after installing we couldn't connect to the wireless network through laptops, iphone ps3 etc - even though we could see the network with excellent strength, after hours of trying called TP-Link they went through everything they could think of and still no joy. It will see networks, I'll enter the security key, and it will tell me it cannot connect. This has happened at my office, at coffee shops, and at friends houses. So I try all the suggested troubleshooting steps and end up in some infinite loop of complete unhelpfulness. I am not a developer, hacker. or other IT professional so I have no idea what half the stuff they are telling me to do even means and most of the stuff (resetting routers etc) is not something I have the capability of doing anyway. I printed the router's Device Information sheet and have the WEP and WPS numbers. The password and WPS pin numbers I put in do not work.
