Wireless Connection To BT Home Hub

Mar 12, 2012

I already have one computer connection to my BT Home Hub but in trying to connect a second computer I get the following message on the list of available connections, "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network." I am not aware that I have saved any settings on this computer since receiving it back from repair last week. How do I go about getting this second computer to my Home Hub?

Home Network :: Sharing A Wireless Connection?

Jan 9, 2013

I have a PC that connects to a wireless connection. I would like to share this connection with MORE THAN ONE PC. I have read it is possible to share it with ONE other PC via a crossover cable.I would like to share this to a router so that the PCs connected to the router can use this connection. Is this possible? If so, what would I need?(Other than a crossover cable and router)Side note: I'll be sharing this connection to a wireless router - so I'm hoping to basically relay the connection that way.I know it is possible to buy extenders that extend the range of wireless connections, but this is where the restrictions come into play...-We are not able to network these computers on the wireless network, as we do not manage it and have some quite strict privileges.-The router will also be used to share a hard drive via USB.

Home Network :: Wireless Connection Sharing Over Ethernet?

Aug 11, 2012

I'm sure this may appear to have been asked before but I've scoured the Internet and can't find anything exactly applicable to the setup I'm trying to achieve. I had a sky ADSL connection in my living room that had my tv, ps3, NAS and netbook wired in. I've since changed to a sky fibre connection but this had to be installed in the master phone line which is upstairs. This obviously isn't a problem for all of the wireless devices around the house including the netbook and ps3 in the living room. The NAS and TV are still wired to the old router so can see each other with no problems. Any pc trying to connect to the NAS can just switch to the old router via wifi if desired. The only problem I have is that the TV can no longer access the Internet.

I initially tried to use ICS on the netbook (it's left on permanently) - it's wired to the old router and wirelessly connected to the new one. This appeared to be working for a while but is no longer playing ball. I've tried bridging the connections and the tv and NAS both had Internet access but it's very sporadic. Is this a reasonable setup or should I be looking for another solution? I can specify a manual ip, subnet and default gateway on the tv if necessary - I was going to point it towards the bridge's gateway but I don't know about IP?

Home Network :: How To Establish Wireless Connection Between Two Houses

Dec 26, 2011

I need to get the internet from my uncle and aunt's house to my grandma's house next door. I don't know exact feet or anything like that yet but I will get it measured off. My grandma's kids got her a laptop for Christmas but she doesn't have the internet or would be wanting to spend money on it a month since she already says she will not be able to use the computer, but I said we would just somehow get the internet from next door. I don't know off the top of my head but my aunts computer is an older Dell, early P4 computer with xp on it. It's slow but it does work so that is the computer. The router is some sort of D-link with one antenna on it and I'm pretty sure it's probably a G-router(2.4ghz) and not a N-router, but can get that info later too! They currently use Time Warner Cable Roadrunner Turbo for their internet. Both places are well built brick houses and at least 200-300 feet apart. I checked yesterday and the computer was able to pick up the signal in my grandma's house on the end that was closest to my aunts house. It was showing 2 bars but it wasn't extremely fast and that room had a bigger window in it probably allowing some of the signal in? If you moved from that point of the house though and tried to go to the other end, the signal was lost. The router in my aunt's house is one room away from the end of the house that is closest to my grandma's so it could be moved closer but I don't think that will fix the signal enough to do what I need it to do.

Home Network :: Abnormal Slow Internet Only On Wireless Connection?

Apr 27, 2013

We have been having a very abnormal speed issue. This one has me stumped. I am fed up and thinking maybe its an Att issue that will NEVER be resolved.Brother comes and bothers me Zach internet is slow thinking hes just being picky I tell him to reboot his computer. He says its still slow. I run a speed test from my desktop computer I get a 5.36Mbps download and .63 up. I go to his windows xp professional laptop and run a speed test he pulls .63mbps down and .32 up. This is a Dell Latitude D610 with built in wifi. My desktop just so happens to be a wired connectionI grab my laptop which happens to be the exact same model and experience the same result. So I power cycle to modem, then the Linksys ea2700 router. The speeds go back to 5.37m down and normal speed up. Then after 20 minutes its back to a CRAWL.

OK the router MUST be dead. I will kill two birds with one stone. I plug in my Modem/Router combo 2wire 2700. Speed does the same thing starts off fast then slow to a crawl. Figuring it's a laptop issue I use a Linksys wireless USB adapter AE-2500. I get the same result fast then slow. NOW the crazy thing is that its only on my wireless connections. The wireless computers use wireless G and say 54mbps so why would the internet be slow only on the wireless connection. So maybe it's an interference issue So I start up the generator and plug my modem router and laptop into it. I then shut off THE ENTIRE POWER service to my house! I get the same result fast then slow. My neighbors are far apart and I have switched wireless channels and even used the 5ghz frequency with the same results. An ATT Tech says the line is fine. They came to the house and tested everything. The only thing that has happened recently was a storm which left flooding in some parts of town. Only one time was I able to test my WIRED computer and get a download speed of .04Mbps down and .32 up

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G V1 Connection Works Fine Except Home

Dec 20, 2010

Recently added a NookColor to my toys.  Works fine except at home.  The device shakes hands with the router but won't connect.  Nook connects seamlessly with every other network I've tried.  Had my Bro-in-law over with his Anfroid based mobile devices and they won't connect either.  We currently are running 4 boxes (2 @ desktop and laptop) off this router with no problems. As near as I can figure the latest firmware update (2007) can't handle the Android OS protocol and while they recognize each other they won't speak or play nice.Any options y'all know of short of replacing the router with a shiny new one ?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Dropping Internet Connection In Home Network?

Apr 2, 2012

I have a home network with a Linksys E4200 connected to the ISP's fiber box. The problem is that when I'm connected to the Linksys, either wired or wireless, the connection to the internet will drop after what seems to be a random amount of time (normally anywhere from 2-10 minutes). I can restore the connection by doing any of these things:-reboot Linksys-disconnect and reconnect cable from router to fiber box-if on wireless connection, make changes to the router wifi settings, like change the wifi channel. The internal network stays up, and I can ping both the internal and external ip of the router, but not the fiber box. I have also had the same behavior with an Edimax Wifi AP and less frequently with a Edimax router (once every 1-2 days). I have done everything I can think of:-changed the wifi channels-changed the ip ranges, subnets, turned router DHCP off and back on-booted the fiber box-changed cables-updated all routers to the latest firmware, the network cards with latest drivers...and loads other things that I don't remember right now. For the wifi side of things, there are no other networks in range that could interfere. The same problem occurs on both my and wife's Win 7 laptops and on the iMac (latest OSX). Here's a fun detail: while the Linksys has lost its connection to the internet, I can still access the internet through the old Edimax router connected to the same fiber box, either wired or wireless.

Home Network :: Using A Netgear WG602 Wireless Router - PC And Iphone Randomly Losing Connection?

Jun 2, 2011

Currently using a netgear WG602 wireless router which i use to connect to my 2nd PC and Iphone, with the Netgear router running from my main PC.I have recently been having trouble with my 2nd PC ad Iphone randomly losing connection and the only way for the connection to be reastablished is to reboot the wireless router. Once rebooted i am able to connect again to the internet with no problems, interestingly enough my main PC never loses connection. Also sometimes when i lose my connection and reboot the wireless router i will have a IP conflict pop up on my 2nd PC however i would i say i get this once in every 10 dissconects and not all the time. Sometimes i won't dissconect at all in a day but sometimes i may dissconect 5-6 times.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E900 - Share Internet Connection With Rest Of Home Network

Mar 10, 2013

I am currently connecting my PC to a mobile phone as a Wireless Access Point to give that PC access the internet. I also have a small home network, with one other PC and a Game Console. I own a Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router. My problem is this. How do I share that internet connection with the rest of the home network? To the best of my knowledge its not possible to connect my mobile phone directly to my Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router.

So my alternative idea is to connect to the internet via one PC, set up that internet connection as "Shared." and then allow the other devices on the home network to connect thru this. My question is how do I set up my  Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router to allow my other PC and game console connect to the internet? Bridge Mode? PPPoE?

I'm running two Windows 7 laptops, LG BluRay player, Apple TV, Xbox 360 (Wired) iPhone 4, and a iPad 2. It doesn't matter if I'm browsing the web, watching Netflix, or playing a game, the connection gets lost. As we speak it happened again. I have no clue on what to do. I've reconfigured it multiple times. Firmware has been updated months ago.
