Can Fax From Computer Windows 7 Using ATT U-Verse Voice
Dec 10, 2011
I just got Windoes 7 and it has a Fax icon to go to. It want to knoe if I am connected to a moden or network service.I don't really wnt to buy a $200.00 modem to replace the HP 920 Fx machine that is going to some good person. I have wireless gateway 2wire modem thingey sitting on my dest to support ATT UVerse
I run a webserver that has worked fine for a while. Recently, I've been getting calls from people who say that the page is no longer pulling up. There were several reported cases, but no specifics. Finally I talked to someone today. He said they changed their ISP to AT&T U-Verse and that's when the problem started. When trying to go to our webpage, his browser times out. He has tried in Firefox, IE and even on the iPad, so it seems to be a router and/or ISP problem.I thought it might be a DNS server problem, but I changed it to Google's public DNS server,
I have an Inspiron 1440, windows 7 which won't connect to the net (wireless). First some history, I have 3 computers, 2 laptops and a desktop. About a month ago, the laptop that isn't working now was working fine, but the other 2 computers didn't work (i.e., didn't connect to the net). I have ATT-U-verse. Called them and we changed the name of my network to get the other 2 working. Which they did. Now the Inspiron won't work. Of course, I changed the network access to the new one but it still won't work. I have tried deleting the network from the computer and selecting the router from the list that comes up, but when it detects my network in range, it won't ask for the security key it will simply try to connect as if it knows the key already, even though I have deleted it. I have also removed the battery and replaced and that won't work. One more thing, I took the laptop to work and it connected to the internet just fine.
I'm trying to use a WRT54GL with U-Verse. The problem is that the router does not get a connection to the modem. It can't ping the modem, and it doesn't show up on on the list of devices connected to the modem. DHCP assigns an IP address of 127.0.0.1, which is outside the range of the modem [192.168.1.1 ... 192.168.1.253]. The router is also showing a default gateway of 0.0.0.0, and a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0. (And yes, I have released and renewed the lease, rebooted the modem, and reconnected the modem.) The router WAN side is set to DHCP, and the operating mode was changed from gateway to router (the gateway setting doesn't work either, for that matter).
Just got U-Verse High Speed 10mbps/1mbps. However it came with a 2wire 3600HGV router/modem combo but I prefer my old apple airport + modem setup. I looked around the 2wire's GUI and it didn't have anything for Bridge Mode like other gateways I use to have. How are you setting up your U-verse to use standalone router?
I can now access my router config pages when connected to my ATT router. However, I cannot seem to access the Internet when connected to my e3000; I just time out. I also have difficulties just connecting to my e300 for some reason. I have been connected a couple of times where i could access the Internet but it was only for a few minutes and it was very slow.I can't seem to put the router in the DMZ because the ATT router will only DMZ a DHCP-enabled device and the e3000 has a static IP (192.168.1.253). I have tried running the PING and Traceroute diagnostics and both just come back with Unknown Host no matter what URL i enter. The status page also appears as if the e3000 is not properly talking to the ATT router. Under the Internet Connection area it shows Connection Type: Automatic Configuration - DHCP then 0s for IP address, subnet, and gateway. the DNS entries are empty and the MTU shows 1500 and the DHCP Lease Time is also empty. i am all ears and willing to try whatever. But i just want to be able to connect to my e3000 so i can utilize the wireless n internally and connect a 2TB external drive to share. But I also want to be able to get out to the Internet when i am connected to the device.
Trying all week to get my E1200 setup as an Access Point with my AT&T U-Verse 2WIRE Modem. [code] It just never seems to work correctly. It will connect for a second or 2 and then jam up. My ultimate scenario would be to have the E1200 just act as a wireless access point and have the 2WIRE do the rest: firewall, DCHP, etc.
My parents switched from comcast to uverse and I'm having problems staying connected to the 2wire router they supplied. my connection disconnects and reconnects making the internet nearly impossible to use
I am swapping my AT&T DSL and Comcast cable for U-verse. In the basement, I have a Netopia DSL modem connected to a Linksys BEFRS81 v. 3 ethernet Cable/DSL router/8-port switch. Cat 5 cables are attached to the router, then run throughout the house so we are "networked" to the DSL modem and use a patch cord from laptop or desktop into the wall to get to the Internet.
I have two computers one running on Xp and the other on 8, they are positioned next to each other and I'd like to connect them so each can access the other. They are connected via enthral to a common router.
Internet was working fine this morning, then stopped just now.I have a Windows 7 computers connected via Wifi to my BT Homehub.Wireless icon in system tray has a yellow exclamation mark on it and cannot connect to the internet on any browser.Have tried a window restore to a couple of days back and have restarted numerous times, nothing has worked.
I have a friend who is looking at getting a new computer and he would like to know if he'll be able to share files and printers and maybe an Internet connection between his XP Pro computer and a new Win8 one using a Workgroup with no DC.
Long story short, I have a Asus CG5270 desktop with a cdrom that DOES NOT work and a hard drive that is totally wiped clean of any operating system. I also have a router and a perfectly working laptop with Windows 7 64bit home premium on it. I do not have a crossover cable or external hard drive. I have the recovery disk for the desktop which is Vista 64bit home premium SP1.Can I or can I not use the laptop to reinstall Vista on my desktop?I've found this question asked countless times in countless forums but also countless answers that do not answer the question for a person that is not a computer engineer.
Have an older laptop running XP Home, Desktop running XP Pro with printer on it. Wireless network setup and doing fine for bidirectional file share and print share from old lappie to desktop. All worked great.Bought a brand new high end laptop with Win 7 (not impressed). Finally got the Win 7 new one to recognize both older computers on the Win 7 computer and was able to access file share and print on the desktop. Thought I was doneNope, now while I can see the old lappie and it can see it in the Win7 computer both directions give me cannot access the drive or specific files even though it "sees" themAll files and disks are set to full share. No password is required or any homegroup is setup on the win 7 system. I've been in the bus. a long time so you know I'm at the end of the rope. All searches through knowledge base and the web have yielded no results to this.I did find an absolute to this in insuring that both systems have the same workgroup. Changed the old lappie to the right name. Made no difference in access (after several reboots). Obviously can't run Easy Transfer with this situation.
Now problem #2. I changed the old lappies workgroup to the same as the Win7 computer in the hopes of fixing this. Made no difference but now I have two iterations my XP laptop in the Win 7 system. When selected, the info for one has the old workgroup and selecting the other shows the new workgroup (matching the Win7 workgroup).Anyway, throwing up my hands in frustration and disgust. Find no way to even dump the old workgroup map listing. Jeez. Sure glad they (M/S) made this better?
im using windows 7, i dont know what happen but suddenly i cant access internet it says no internet access, this is happening few times but when i check other computer using same internet connecting its connected no problem with other computers.
I have a cable modem with 1 wired port and no router, ISP is Charter. I can't connect to the internet on my Windows 7 computer, but I can connect to the internet on my Windows 8 laptop. I have attached pictures of both computers ipconfigs.
I finally was able to connect two of my computers up to share files. The only problem is My Win7 computer can't see the xp computer although the Xp can see the Seven. When I first set it up Explorer showed the name of the Xp but when I clicked on it the dialog said it couldn't find the computer. The Xp name was in all caps and when I checked on the Xp the name was all lower case so I tried to change the name. When I tried, the OK button was grayed out so I went in to So I clicked on More and was able (I thought) to change the name there. I had to reboot and when I did the computer had just appended the DNS entry I had to give to the original lowercase name.
I was finally able to rename the XP computer! I changed the name to NETBOOK all caps like I had originally thought it was. BUT it makes no difference to the Win7 machine it still can't see the XP machine. I did a refresh and the Xp's name NETBOOK showed up But I am still back where I started from because when I click on it a dialog box just says that it can't access ||NETBOOK.
i have windows 7 on computer in my bedroom and its connected to Virgin Media via cable.i have been told that i can get a 2nd computer (in a different room) connected to the internet using a router.does this connect to computer or Virgin Media box? or is router the most efficient way to do this?both computers run windows 7 and 2nd is an emachine and would be used for light surfing, email and downloading games.
i recently bought a wireless printer but have it connected via USB because my computer isnt wireless compatible. do i need something to enable this computer to use printer wirelessly? nobody mentioned this when i bought it!

I have a windows 7 computer that was connected wirelessly to my router and internet worked fine. One day i woke up and the internet would not work. The computer is still connected to the router but no internet access. There are other computers on the network that connect fine.I have also tried connecting my computer directly to the modem and still no internet.Running windows diagnositc tells me there is no default gateway available. Ive cycled the modem and router probably a million times and even taking the pc to another house to try on a different router and still no go.
At random times the network cable is apparently unplugged but then it reconnects and then I cant receive anything.I disconnect the LAN then reconnect and then it works again. This is on a winXp computer.
I'm operating on a windows XP operating system (home computer)and having problems connecting to the internet. My router and modem are working fine as I am able to connect to the internet by using my laptop. I had McAfee on my computer and after reading the problems associated with it, uninstalled it. But after un-installation, I am still unable to connect to the internet.
My main computer is a desktop PC, which is in my upstairs study. It is connnected wirelessly to the internet, and the Virgin router is downstairs in the living room. This has worked perfectly for 2 years. The computer uses Windows 7 ultimate. (COMPUTER 1), I recently purchased a laptop (COMPUTER 2) and installed Windows 7 ultimate. This uses the same wireless connection and at first I had no problem setting up a homegroup so that I could watch videos stored on Computer 1 on the laptop. The first problem is that the homegroup stopped working some time ago and when both computers are switched on, I get the message on both computers: "no other homegroup computers are currently available."
I figured I could leave the homegroup and start again but if I try to leave on either computer I get the error message: "Windows couldn't remove your computer from the homegroup." In services, both the Homegroup settings (listener and provider) are started, as are the peer networking options. I have tried disabling them and re-starting to no avail. Now, this hasn't been a major problem because I have still been able to access files on Computer 1 via Computer 2 by clicking on network>Computer1>user. But here is where it gets complicated. I have now purchased another desktop PC (COMPUTER 3) which I intend to place in the living room and connect to my TV, so that I'm not constantly connecting wires from my laptop (computer 2) if I want to watch something on the big screen. Again, Windows 7 ultimate installed.
I have an XP and a Windows 7 on network (put them in the same Group). I can see the Win7 machine on the XP computer,, accesss files from it. But the XP computer does not show up on Windows7. File sharing was enabled in both. In another post TerryNet asked for the following info (nbtstat -n and IPCONFIG /ALL) from both machines. I thought I will post them assuming I have similar issue as in the previous post. here are the details of these two commands from the two machines.
Windows 7 Machine ============== C:UsersArun>nbtstat -n Local Area Connection:
How can I change my ip address on windows 7. Someone hacked my computer before and now im afraid that he will do it again. I want to secure it by changing my ip address..
I have an old computer that is Windows 98SE. It uses a dial-up connection, but I don't have a phone line anymore so I've been trying to find another way to connect it to the internet. I've tried connecting it to the internet by connecting it to my Linksys wireless broadband router but that doesn't do anything. I also have a wireless notebook adapter that I've also tried to use but the driver needs to be reinstalled or updated and I don't know how to do that. I've lost the installation disk that came with it also. Do I need to buy anything to make it work?
