I am running Windows 2003 sever, have DSL modem, connected Linksys E2000 wireless router, then D-Link 16 port switch.I cannot get internet and network to work. The wireless is working on laptop, network is working (I can access files on server), but I cannot get internet through the network.I have tried disabling DHCP on server, disabling DHCP on router.I have tried a crossover cable.
The network is "connected" but the internet still does not work. I have wireless internet and a Windows Vista computer. It also says the network is unidentified.
I start my pc i get 2 local area connections instead of 1 and because of this my internet does not work unless i disable and enable again the network .After enabling only 1 network shows and i can connect to internet. It may be because i replaced my motherboard even tho i uninstalled the drivers?
I have an E900 I replaced an old Airport Extreme with. The reason was for increased download speed. The Apple router I used saw my work network and I could access files and printers; no changes to my Mac were necessary. It worked out of the box. The new Linksys has Internet connectivity but will not see my work network at all. I have looked into the old settings and cannot figure out how to make the new router see my network. I called Linksys but no dice. What settings need to be changed to see the work network? It is connected to the same ethernet cable as the other router that worked fine.
I have a Dell Studio 1737 running Windows 7 64 bit. I turned it on today and it automatically connected to my home network as usual and when I hover over the network icon it says there is Internet Access but when I open Firefox it can not connect to any websites. When I run the automatic troubleshooter, it does not detect any problems with the connectivity.
I ran ipconfig /all and this is what came up:

I have a laptop that I take to work, and would like to set things up to use my home internet connection from elsewhere. I don't have another computer to function as a server for me at home, so would like to do it so that my router alone provides this access (log into it from the internet anywhere and use my internet as if I am using it from home). How would I go about doing this? Would it require installing new firmware?
Im trying to use a poker client on a business network with a server, for example pokerstars cant connect to its servers from my computer at work how do i configure the server to allow my poker client to connect?
I have had this computer for about 3 years and it crashed during a storm but when I reset the bios and reinstalled windows it worked again but now I can't get the LAN adapter to light even while cord is in there and I can't get my router to say it's connected to my pc and it says the cat5 cable isn't hooked to my computer but I know the cable works. I'm running windows vista home premium. I try to type in ipconfig/all and it says media disconnected
so i was having problems with my comp and re installed windows 7. Afterwards when i tried to plug in my Dlink USB wireless connection it would attempt to install it then fail. I tried putting in the disc it came with and it failed to download the driver successfully as well.
Should a computer running XP be able to use ICS to share its internet connection across a gigabit network to a computer with a Fast Ethernet card running Vista? If so, I have a problem and will post a more detailed question.
I have a windows xp pc that is running as a server that is networked with a windows 7 pc. Both are connected through a switch. Here is the diagram.
Both Pc's--->Switch--->Wired Router--->Wireless router/modem--->Phone line box.
I am running embarq high speed internet. I also have a network printer that follows the route as the pc's but has its own port.I used to have the 2 pc's networked to share a folder on the xp machine. Came in one day, and now the shared folder cannot be located by the Windows 7 machine. I have tried to run setup wizard for network over and over and cannot get any results. I can map the drive on the xp machine but it doesnt show up on the 7 machine, or I am just not able to locate it under my computers.
The company I work for has a system that our employees clock in on called UNIX (ancient program). I have an iSSH app on my iPhone that I can now log in to as long as I am on our wireless network here at our office. However, I have to travel alot and usually I'm gone during the day that all our time corrections have to be adjusted and turned in. I just log into my Unix program and adjust it...however if I'm out of town I have to do the entire thing over the phone with a lady in our book keeping department and it's incredibly annoying and time consuming. So we're looking for a way to be able to access our system through my iSSH app while on cellular network rather than being here at the office. My administrator wants me to find this out so that all our department heads can do this. I don't have any way of getting our internet provider to set up a port forward, so the only information I have to work with is our static IP address, our default gateway, our subnet mask, and the primary and secondary dns servers.
I built my desktop, installed the ethernet drivers, and a week goes by no problemsAll of a sudden the internet stopped working so i reinstalled my ethernet driver and no internet still. So to make sure it wasn't the ethernet cord i plugged it into my xbox and xbox live came up
I just want to know if FTP service can be done without internet? I want to setup my file transfer locally just w/n the campus.. All resources will be centralized in one server..
My wireless internet works fine, but its slower (or i assume) than wired. When i first got my comp, i didn't have the money for a long ethernet cable, so my friend gave me his wireless adaptor. I've been wanting to switch as i now have a cable that connects to my xbox from my router and i can switch from xbox to computer, but when i plug it in and undo the wireless adaptor my computer doesn't register that there is any internet at all. My wired internet won't work and i have no idea why.
I have a ethiernet cable that I can connect to my pc and get internet, when I connect that same cable to the wirless router, I can't get internet, what am I doing wrong. The PC I am using connect to other wireless routers on the same network, but this ethiernet cable only work on pc when put in direct
im using a laptop with built in wireless adapter and it connects to my router but the connection appears to be very weak because i often get disconnects and the taskbar shows me having only one or two bars(im using windows 7). My roommate's laptop connects to it with max bars. So, i got my old usb adapter, which works fine on my desktop(i tested it), and it cant make the laptop use the adapter instead of the built in wireless adapter. I have tried disabling the built in adapter and it just tells me that i cannot connect to the internet. The usb adapter is enabled but it has a red X on the side of the picture.
I recently bought my new Alienware laptop M14x R2 and it connects to the wifi but internet speed is VERY slow, the other computers in my house work just fine.url...I am running windows 7 64 bit and the wireless card is intel centerino n-2230
I have an extra router of that model because verizon sent me one to trouble shoot a problem I was having. It didnt solve the problem and they didnt request it back.So I wanted to give it to a friend to use on his AT&T dsl connection. He already has a modem going to the router. But it wont connect. Is there any reason this router wont work on another carriers network?
we have a linksys e4200 wireless router we don't have people connecting to it often but people do occasionally. Everyone can connect to the network drives fine (as far as I'm aware) except for one laptop. It's a windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit . It has no problem connecting to the internet just a problem connecting to the drives.
.We are setting up a new sales office where there will be between 5-10 users. At the moment, we run everything of one server which has all the file shares, printers. Active Directory etc. I know so far I will need the server cabinet - But my main concern is how I will make this new site connect to the already existing network and the other things which I will need.
Why in some places I can not switch on my VPN ? The strange thing is when I use the VPN server of my office , this work OK and it is the same VPN client. So this means that I do something wrong in my private CISCO 1841 ROUTER.Here bellow what does not work and at the bottom the same computer same network.
So, my desktop, running windows 7, can no longer connect to the internet. It has no problem connecting to the router, but it will not receive packets. I double checked my connection using my laptop and it works with wireless and wired connections, so I know it's something with my desktop. I would really like to avoid doing a reinstall, I don't have anywhere to back my data up to.
I have two PCs with the same problem. The ethernet port on the motherboard does not recognize an Internet connection. I'm running Win 7 64 bit Pro on both. My older PC needs to have the enternet cable disconnected before Windows boots, then once the OS is all booted, I plug the ethernet cable back in and I get an internet connection. On my new PC, I had to go into Device Manager and delete the ethernet card ( not the drivers) then reboot. Windows then recognized the card and connection and the Internet works. What is causing this? One PC is an Intel I-7 quad core, the new one is an Intel I-7 six core. Both hardwired to the Belkin N router. My old XP PCs do not have this problem.
I have been having problem with my internet lately. I live in UK and there is this game that I used to play that has a region IP block so I have to use Hotspot shield to play, but now my internet doesn't connect to Hotmail or this forum unless hotspot shield is turned on. How can I fix that? I tried config/flushdns but no luck. I am using window xp.
A day or so after that, it quit alltogether, with Windows saying it is a DNS server issue. I have reason to believe the IT guy for the apartment has NO idea what he's talking about, as he has told the landlord that it is probably too many wireless routers causing interference. This is not the case.Supposedly there are only about 4 apartments (out of 16) that are affected by this same problem, and I am the only person actively trying to fix this, as it is affecting my school work. I have limited access to the hardware of the building, but can get just about whatever I need for testing purposes through the landlord if I try hard enough.
