I have an E4200 and I can not get WoL to work over the internet.(I'm assuming it's not actually going out to the internet when I wirelessly wake it using shawn.dynamicservice.com and the subnet, but rather the DDNS name is being resolved through the ARP cache, but I don't know. I'm still learning) Consequently, if the sentence above in parenthesis is correct, I am unable to perform WoL from outside my LAN. What am I missing?

Mar 7, 2012I'm just about to trade-in an E4200v2 for a E4200v1, primarily to regain the "Internet Access Policy" capability.
Just wanted to do a reality check with those of you who tried/use IAP... does it work basically as advertised?
I would be using IAP to specify MAC addr's of devices, blocking them from certain URL's and limiting their hours of Internet access.
And I plan to have Linksys's DHCP Server turned OFF, since my Windows Server handles DHCP on my network.
Should I expect all of this to work OK? No major reliability problems with IAP?
Linksys Wireless Router :: E900 Connects To Internet But Not Detects Work Network
Mar 21, 2013I have an E900 I replaced an old Airport Extreme with. The reason was for increased download speed. The Apple router I used saw my work network and I could access files and printers; no changes to my Mac were necessary. It worked out of the box. The new Linksys has Internet connectivity but will not see my work network at all. I have looked into the old settings and cannot figure out how to make the new router see my network. I called Linksys but no dice. What settings need to be changed to see the work network? It is connected to the same ethernet cable as the other router that worked fine.

My roommate's laptop connects to it with max bars. So, i got my old usb adapter, which works fine on my desktop(i tested it), and it cant make the laptop use the adapter instead of the built in wireless adapter. I have tried disabling the built in adapter and it just tells me that i cannot connect to the internet. The usb adapter is enabled but it has a red X on the side of the picture.

Aug 22, 2012I have two PCs with the same problem. The ethernet port on the motherboard does not recognize an Internet connection. I'm running Win 7 64 bit Pro on both. My older PC needs to have the enternet cable disconnected before Windows boots, then once the OS is all booted, I plug the ethernet cable back in and I get an internet connection. On my new PC, I had to go into Device Manager and delete the ethernet card ( not the drivers) then reboot. Windows then recognized the card and connection and the Internet works. What is causing this? One PC is an Intel I-7 quad core, the new one is an Intel I-7 six core. Both hardwired to the Belkin N router. My old XP PCs do not have this problem.

I have reason to believe the IT guy for the apartment has NO idea what he's talking about, as he has told the landlord that it is probably too many wireless routers causing interference. This is not the case.Supposedly there are only about 4 apartments (out of 16) that are affected by this same problem, and I am the only person actively trying to fix this, as it is affecting my school work. Apr 22, 2011I have asked this question to an internet service provider and 2 different techs at two differnt computer stores and no one has an answer for me. What is happening is just a few computers you plug them into dsl just through the modem the phone company uses and you cannont get on the internet, you get no internet connection, But you plug the same computer into a router that is connected even to the same modem to get the dsl and it will work right away. Now I understand that the router acts as a dhcp server and the computer is getting its ip address from it, but why won't it pick up one from the modem without the router? When this happens and it is not very often you can use the same modem with the same cabling and plug in another computer and it will get online right away so it is not the modem that is bad and not the cabling.
We had this problem about a year ago with like 5 computers. would not get on dsl, online through the telephone companies modem how ever you would use the same modem and plug it into a router and you could get online right away. At that time the telephone company had a real old DHCP server and the date and time and everything was wrong on it I suppose the battery was bad but they did away with it and use a differnt one going through Netins internet service provider. At that time before they did away with the dhcp server I had called netins and told them the problem they didn't no what was wrong and like I said I spoke with two other techs from two other computer stores and they had never heard of the problem, well now he is having the same problem with two laptops, I was just there today and saw they couldn't get online but you could plug another laptop into the same modem and it would get online with no problem, I took the laptop home and hooked it through my router and it got online right away. So I told him I tnought it was something with there dhcp server that the laptop wasn't getting an ip address from it but then why would another laptop getting plugged into the same modem in a few min get right online.
Internet Connection Does Not Work Right Away After Starting Up PC
Sep 14, 2012I do not remember exactly when this started but I think it was beginning of last week. Anyways, every time when I start up my computer and sign into my screen the internet connection does not seem to work right away. I thought first this was a problem with Google Chrome but then I tried other applications and it is the same thing. It takes about 30 seconds before I can get internet connection to do anything online even though down at the bottom right it says I am connected to the internet. The rest of the time I'm using the computer it's perfectly fine. It's only when I first start up the computer and sign into my screen. I don't know what's the problem so I'm hoping I can get an answer here from somebody.

May 22, 2012The electric went off in my house about an hour ago, causing my computer to turn off as a result. Ever since, the internet on my PC has been acting up.
My internet was working perfectly before the power cut both on my laptop (my mum was using it at the time) and PC, however, while I've got no problems with the internet on the laptop, my PC keeps losing the connection to a ridiculous degree. It'll drop the connection for over a minute at a time, come back on literally long enough for me to refresh/load 1 webpage (~5 seconds), then go back off again for another minute or two.
All the lights on the router are on and I've even cross-referenced (lacking a better term...) the internet connection between my lap top and desk top and my laptop will work fine when my PC is telling me there's no connection and nothing will load on it. It seems to me that something has happened to my desktop when the power went out but I have no idea where to begin to even try to find out what's wrong.
I've tried turning off the router by both the wall and the little button on the back of it, and I've restarted my PC twice as well and still the internet doesn't work properly. My laptop picked up the connection as soon as the router came back on with no problem but my desktop struggled to find the connection and only picked it up after turning the router off twice aand restarting the computer twice as well and as I said, when it finally did find the connection it just keeps dropping it.

Jun 6, 2011yesterday at 6:30 am my internet was working fine.yesterday at 7am it quits working.the computers through the house are 2 desktop PC's, one netbook, and one laptop.the 2 pc's connect to the router via a switch.the netbook and laptop use the wireless router.the wireless router is not specifically just a wireless router, it goes both ways (hardline and wireless)after 7am, the netbook still had connectivity to the internet via wireless even though my laptop did not.the internet is still connected to all of them, browsers like google chrome, firefox, and IE7 do not work. but just like a browser, steam's store will not load.here's the funny part, the netbook still had browsing ability until 7pm last night.we checked all the ip's and MAC addresses on the computers to make sure nothing was conflicting.nothing was.packets were coming in and out at normal rate but none of our browsers worked.we do have comcast, and my father told me that comcast gives you norton for free for using them.i have read on here that removing norton magically solves the problem but 3 of the 4 computers does not run norton. and i also do not see the logic behind this.we have also recieved emails from comcast exclaiming that they have reports of "bot emails" coming from our I.P.'s could this have been an attack on our network or some network virus?
