I have a 5508 WLC and a series of 1140 APs. One small but annoying thing I have noticed is that the APs are pulling the correct time from the WLC but the timezone is off so they are showing time at 0 and not -8. The timezone is set and correct on the WLC.
View 9 RepliesMy galaxy tab has a difficult time connecting to my wifi. it seems that the only time my galaxy will connect is when i change the DHCP reserved IP address i setup for it. it wouldn't connect before i setup a reserved IP address. now my galaxy tries to connect over and over and won't until i change the reserved IP address by a few digits.the router is an older d-link wbr-2310. i know routers occasionally die, but this is the only problem i have with it.

Unfortunaltelly we have no hands-on suopport on-site, so just remote connection.Now we figured that the service-port and management interfaces have to be reconfigured. In case we can not reach the WLC with the new configured interfaces it would be useful if the WLC reboots automatically after time x to reload the previouse working configuration.So the question is, is there a functionality to create a script which reboots the WLC automatically after time x?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a curious issue on a customer site where the above components are installed.The issue being that the iPhones the users utilise cannot connect to the mail server via WiFi, they are forced to connect with their 3G connection. The core issue seems to be the 887VA, as when I've installed 'lesser' branded ADSL routers, the connection seems to be fine.The iPhones are set to access the mail server via the URL: mail.customer.com. Should I change this to the internal IP of the server 192.168.12.200, the mail connection works fine. However I cannot expect the client to make this change every time they arrive or leave the office. Presently I have them disable WiFi when on premises.

We configured our guest wireless with no layer 2 authetication so users can associate with an AP and get an ip adress but they can't go anywhere unless they have a valid username and password(web authentication) - does this affect the performance of an AP since there will be many people associated with each AP, is there any setting in the WLC to de associate a client from an AP if its idle for certain time.
I would like to set a time limit for how long a client can be continously connected to the WLAN that provides my guest internet access. The user name/password is hosted on my ACS and authentication is provided by my Cisco NAC. I am using 5508 controllers (7.02) and WCS.
Somewhere in this combination of stuff, there has to be a way to set a two hour time limit.

I have an issue where I cannot get clients to change SSID. I have two SSID, one WPA2 secure, one open guest. The secure is locally switched via Flexconnect and the guest is centrally switched. Both of them work. I have been able to test this and both work as intended. The problem is that once you connect to one of them, either secure or guest, you cannot then change to the other. The only way to change is to delete the dhcp entry from the scope and then do it.
Fast SSID change is enabled. I also have debug client output from when the client fails when you try to switch which I will include below. I also pulled some wireshark captures and those show me that the DHCP ack packets are trying to give the client the ip address from the incorrect/previous scope. So basically it's like FAST SSID change is not working and the client is never being disassociated properly??
I am totally stumped and even though the client will most likely not be switched between SSID that often I would still like to know the solution.

Recently i have setup a WLAN with inside and anchor 5508 controllers. Standard setup. However, one issue I have is I wish to extend the length of time between password changes for users connected in on the guest wlan. At the moment, 30 is max. I dont have an option on the controller to creat accounts for any longer than that. How to I extend it to 90 days or 120 days?

But when i created a guest account using this guest role, after webauthentication , there is no prompt to change password. Is this the intended behaviour or is there anything else that i need to configure. Looking at it, i am not sure how the NGS would allow a "guest user" to really overwrite the password by allowing password change. ? is that not a security risk as well for the NGS ? my setup has 5508 anchor controller and NGS communicating via RADIUS.

1) I'm using a single subnet eg 192.168.1.0/24 for my wireless clients and i'm assigning them via the DHCP server from the WLC. As the clients are however made up of laptops and scanners, i would like to assign a range from 50-150 for the laptops and 151-250 for the scanners for easier identification. But it seems that from the WLC DHCP menu i'm not able to do this unless i segment them into a different network with different gateways.
2) Is there anyway to change the WLC user accounts password too? I dont seems to be able to find the option unless i delete the account and re-create it with the new password.
Is there a way to change the timeout for the Client Excluded: MACAddress status? It seems like the exclusion is rather short. I'd like to have the ability to control the exclusion time. Using WLC-5508 7.0.116.0.

If you do not connect wireless device within 10 minutes, then you have to restart the router.You have assigned IP via wifi, and when you connect cable device to the router, the wifi PCs are disconnected.

I also have Qos Engine on for allowing me to have 2 xboxes on Open NAT.problem is my wireless signal for some wired reason is VERY weak. A while ago it used to work really far way outside.
