Is it possible to detect a system time change on a workstation on a network? There is suspicions that there is someone trying to use their system time as an excuse to go to lunch early at work, "but my computer says its 1 O'Clock" When everyone else's computer displays 12:48.......

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a strange connection problem. My wifi adapter which should be Dell wireless 1701 is not detecting my router automatically. Sometimes it takes one hour to detect it. Sometimes it detects it but connection fails. My router works fine with a tablet and another laptop. My N5110 is having a problem only with that device which was working fine for few days. It is able to detect neigbour's network and another router.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get an HP laptop running Win7 to see a desktop running WinXP on my network (both wired and wireless) When I run the troubleshooter in Win7, it tells me "system clock does not match local time" as the reason. I have a Belkin wireless router attached to my cable router. I have updated the system clock via the internet on the desktop and checked the time setting in BIOS. These seem to match. I have googled around on this and can't find any accounts similar. My son's Vista laptop and the Win7 laptop have seen each other since day one. The laptop and desktop did see each other at one time, but the connection was lost after I went to a hotel and changed public network settings temporarily. I can ping the desktop from the laptop, but it times out when pinging the laptop from the desktop. I'm running an avast firewall on both, but can't see a problem there.

We just purchased 3 new SGE2010P's and 2 SGE2000P's last week and delivered on Monday.It basically boils down to this. After configuring the system time and hitting Apply and the saving the Running config to the Boot Config and then Restarting the switch the time and date do not remain configured. There will be 2 Computer Labs with 60 computers in each Lab. The staffroom will have 20 computers. The Accounts department will have 5 computers. All the departments are in the same building with just 2 floors. It will be a wired network. All computers should have access to the Internet. There will be a printer each in the 2 Labs, staffroom & accounts department which has to be shared with their respective network. The Lab computers will run MS Office, Adobe software etc. Likewise the the staffroom and accounts department computers will also have to run MS Office and probably Adobe software as well. We will be using Windows Server 2003 and are inclined to use IBM servers due to a partnership. Cost isn't a major issue and the management is willing to spend to set this up rightly in the first place.My main question is whether we should go for a thin client network with everything running in the main servers. In that case how many servers should we have and what would be the ideal config of those servers.If we go for workstation PCs for each user if cost isn't an issue then what are the benefits over thin client computersDo we have to have a separate server for data?

Server plugged into switch.Switch plugged into router.Router DHCPs except printer is static IP. All have access to internet through server then out through router.Have added another workstation that is not allowed access to the network (on purpose) but needs to be able to use the printer. The workstation is not under our security for virus control, etc so I don't want it in the server. But it needs access to internet and access to printer. Should I create a separate subnet from the router and keep the workstation separate there? If so, then how can I keep the printer accessible to both subnets?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy SF300-24 switch has been working 100% as a backup switch for a client of mine. At my clients premises it was running 3 Vlan's and doing inter VLAN routing. When my client received their original switch back, I obviously brought my SF300-24 back to the workshop, reset it back to Factory defaults and tried to do a fresh installation on it. I can not get it to change from Layer 2 to Layer 3! I installed the latest firmware but still no go.
Everything works a 100% via the console, but when I go to the System Mode menu and try and edit it, it justs sits at layer 2 and will not chage to layer 3!
If after having an active peer-link port-channel between a couple of nexus 7010 I change lacp system-priority on both boxes and then I add a new member interface on that port-channel , that interface will be aligned with new lacp system-priority value but the old member do not and so I have to reload those modules which include old member interface.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a 5508 WLC and a series of 1140 APs. One small but annoying thing I have noticed is that the APs are pulling the correct time from the WLC but the timezone is off so they are showing time at 0 and not -8. The timezone is set and correct on the WLC.

I have a curious issue on a customer site where the above components are installed.The issue being that the iPhones the users utilise cannot connect to the mail server via WiFi, they are forced to connect with their 3G connection. The core issue seems to be the 887VA, as when I've installed 'lesser' branded ADSL routers, the connection seems to be fine.The iPhones are set to access the mail server via the URL: mail.customer.com. Should I change this to the internal IP of the server 192.168.12.200, the mail connection works fine. However I cannot expect the client to make this change every time they arrive or leave the office. Presently I have them disable WiFi when on premises.

I restart the computer. And now it shows I have no network adapters and I can't find it in device manager. Plugged it in again in, used different ports.. to no avail. I plugged the network adapter into another PC and it works.

Right now, they cannot browse each other by computer name, instead I have to type their IP addresses (for example: \192.168.2.5) in the windows explorer address bar, and then I can browse to their shared folders. And under "Network" (in Windows Explorer) each computer only displays itself, and not the other (unless I have already typed in the other's IP address, in which case it displays the other computer as the IP address).

Today morning my laptop couldn't detect my home wireless network at all, but it could still detect a bunch of other networks from the neighbours. My iPhone can detect my network with no problems, my desktop computer is wired up to the router, works fine too. It's a D-Link DIR-655. This has happened before but usually gets solved when I reboot (switching off and on) my router. I've tried that, tried restarting my computer too, no use. Haven't tried anything beyond that because I'm an idiot with computers.
