System Clock Does Not Match Local Time?
Jan 16, 2011
I'm trying to get an HP laptop running Win7 to see a desktop running WinXP on my network (both wired and wireless) When I run the troubleshooter in Win7, it tells me "system clock does not match local time" as the reason. I have a Belkin wireless router attached to my cable router. I have updated the system clock via the internet on the desktop and checked the time setting in BIOS. These seem to match. I have googled around on this and can't find any accounts similar. My son's Vista laptop and the Win7 laptop have seen each other since day one. The laptop and desktop did see each other at one time, but the connection was lost after I went to a hotel and changed public network settings temporarily. I can ping the desktop from the laptop, but it times out when pinging the laptop from the desktop. I'm running an avast firewall on both, but can't see a problem there.

This is happening to me to multiple computers on my domain. When it happens i can only log in as a local user or if I unplug the network cable, log in and then re-connect the networkThe time on all these machines is correct within at least 1 minute but still it's throwing off this error. When reading about this problem I see many fixes that all relate to how to sych the time on the PC.

I have a situation where i am installing SGE2000Ps to replace my old switches and configuring VLANS. The time clock will not communicate across the VLANS. If I unplug the network cable and plug it back in I will get two successful pings. If i use a PC configured with the same network settings as the time clock and plug it into the port for the time clock it communicates fine.

I have a Linksys WRT610N wireless system with WPA-PSK security and this works fine with several computers but now one computer detects the wireless security as WEP and can thus not connect to the router. I have tried to manually connect to the router with correct security WPA-Personal (TKIP) and correct password but then the computer says "settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network".How can I get the computer to detect the correct security? The computer is running Windows 7 home premium.

I work in a company that has all our computers on a domain. no one of End Users is local admin. I always use remote desktop to access End Users computers, when I log in with my user name its OK but when I try to log in with End-User user name I got this message. The local policy of this system does not permit you to logon interactively.I do alot of searches and they said I have to add user name to remote access desktop group, which is difficult because I cannot add all users to the remote desktop group.when the user become a local admin to his machine , then I can access his computer remotely with his user name, and of course I cannot make all users local admins because I have to break the local admin group policy.

I'm new to the Cisco forums and new to Cisco switches. We just purchased 3 new SGE2010P's and 2 SGE2000P's last week and delivered on Monday. It basically boils down to this. After configuring the system time and hitting Apply and the saving the Running config to the Boot Config and then Restarting the switch the time and date do not remain configured. It other settings but not the date and time.

When I'm on a fresh boot on my laptop (full shutdown then starting back up) my wifi connects just fine....perfect.However, when I close the screen (its a laptop) and it goes into standby...when I wake it up again my wifi icon by the clock shows that its still obtaining an IP address or whatever (little yellow dot bouncing back and forth over the icon)....The icon will stay like this until the next time I reset the computer....but the entire time my wifi works as it should....its just the icon thats being weird.
Fresh install of Windows (as of two weeks ago)
Windows XP SP3 - all updates are current
Dell Latitude D610
Dell Wireless 1470 Dual Band WLAN Mini-PCI Card
Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller (wired cat5 disabled)
1GB ram
all drivers up to date
Like I said...everything is working as it should..Its done this since I've done the fresh install of Windows, so it has nothing to do with any software I've installed or any of the updates.

I have a 2811 that I'm in the process of turning-up to support a 4xT1 using VWIC-2MFT-T1's. The question is how to "correctly" set clocking on the MFT's.
As is typical of the 2MFT's, as soon as a 2nd T-1 on a VWIC-2MFT comes up, I start taking "Slip Sec"s on the 2nd T-1. I have tried different clock source combinations, including "clock source line primary", various "network-clock-participate" (or not) combinations, and about a dozen other stab-in-the-dark configurations. Before I started playing with it, the slips were consistently every 9 seconds. After playing with it, I got them to every 18 seconds. But there shouldn't be ANY. So the question is what SHOULD the correct timing configuration be on that platform?
The VWIC-2MFT-T1's are in slots 1 and 3, so the controllers involved are 0/1/0, 0/1/1, 0/3/0 and 0/3/1.

I understand that most of the cisco switches does not have a battery-supported system clock. The better solution is to setup the NTP server and let the rest of the switches to synchnorise the clock with it. How about cisco switch 4948? Does it have a battery-supported system clock? If the cisco switch 4948 is the NTP master, how I am going to make sure that the clock will not be reset after reload?

I have 6500 VSS Core Switch configured as NTP Server .I have installed ACS 5.2 vmware and sucessfuly integrated with the AD . I have noticed in some case, i lose connectivity between ACS and AD and when i say test connection , it shows clock skew error . Reboot of ACS sometimes solves the issue, else it comes up automatically after some hours . In core switch , i have configured time as PST +4 and in ACS it is configured as PST +4 , which automatically goes to GST.

On the laptop, the info bar is on the left side, the website tabs on the top, this shifts the other computers screenview down and to the right, it also cuts off the right side and bottom, with still leaving space on the right side and bottom. The pointer on the lap top does not line up with the desktop, because the screen is shifted, but only a portion of the screen is visible anyway. I used the same password and log in on both computers, don't know if they have to be different. There is full a screen option at the top right, but this causes the top tabs and info buttons on the left side to go black.

I live in a shared house, and I am the only one who has been experiencing issues connecting to the internet. I have to ask a housemate to reset the server, as this is the only thing that works.
When I am unable to connect, and I use command ipconfig, the following appears: Autoconfiguration IPv4 169.254.23.29 On the occasions when I am connected, the following appears in its place: IPv4 IP Address: 192.168.0.2
One tip that I came across was to check the box (Wireless Network properties, Connection tab) for "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting". I had hoped this simple solution would assist, but to no avail.
