Apr 22, 2012I have one 4506E switch working in Lan setup as a core switch with WS-X45-SUP6L-E running ipbase IOS 12.2(54)SG1. Each time after reload the switch we found that the clock is getting reset ( time is getting changed ) where as day, date & year is unchanged.

Apr 9, 2012I have CME on Router 2800 series, and switch 2960 PoE connected to this router.On 2960 switch, there is existing 7945 IP Phone that already work properly and get IP 14.x.x.x from voice vlan 2.
Problem is when I add cisco 6921 IP Phone connect to 2960 switch, it get data vlan 10.x.x.x, not voice Vlan 14.x.x.x I have check CDP and it use CDP v2
Config on 2960:

With same config and condition on port 2960, why the IP Phone 6921 can't get voice vlan 14.x.x.x, whereas IP Phone 7945 can get voice vlan 14.x.x.x

VLANS
Vlan 900 is a VoIP VLAN
Vlan 999 is a NULL VLAN and is shut down:

switchport access vlan 999 {VLAN to direct data traffic to the bit bucket becuase a PC shouldn't be connected to this port}
switchport mode access
switchport voice vlan 900
mls qos trust cos
spanning-tree portfast
The 6901 phone doesn't support multiple VLANs, so our configuration above does not work unless vlan 999 is turned on (not good security wise). We got the phones to work also by removing vlan 999 and switchport mode access.

solution that provides the discarding of data for the access VLAN, while supporting the VoIP vlan for this phone?

Feb 20, 2013I have an issue on the Cat 3750 on the voice vlan; IP Phone not registering with PBX & Signaling Server. The ip phone hits dhcp and gets an ip address from a data scope. Data scope does have dhcp options for voice, same as voice scope so it should work but it doesnt.We removed the switchport access vlan 50 command, and left the switchport access voice vlan 51, and now the phone registers.Anything I can check on the switch to make sure voice vlan is working? Any debug voice vlan commands?The switch doesnt seem to distinguish voice and data traffic.I check dhcp and both scopes vlan 50 and vlan 51 have the same configuration. Defautl GW is different of course Catalyst 3750 is running 12.2(25)SEE2 [code]

Apr 4, 2013Customer has a Catalyst WS-C2960-48PST-L. and in some ports we have VoIP phones with PoE company Aastra. If I use first config we have problem when phone boot up.
First config:

The MAC shown here is from a voip Phone. After the phone boot up, the p, because it must boot first in vlan 250 (access vlan). On the port you can only see the MAC from vlan 201. With the second config the phone can boot without problems:

switchport voice vlan 201
is there a reason, why it is the problem with the first config on cat2960 ? The same first config works with an Cat2950 without problems.

May 14, 2013im having this strange issue where everytime i plug in a voip phone to my 3550 the switch disconnects another voip phone.then to fix the disconnected phone (7940) i need to power off the phone 5-10 minutes then power it on again.
but the strange thing is, once i have to do that to fix the phone and connect the phone back to the switch, the port link is up, but no macs are seen on that port.

Feb 20, 2013the phone connects to the 3750-A access layer switch (VTP mode client) which connects to the nexus 5596 (The nexus is the layer 3 device and set to vtp mode server) and finally we have a Voice recorder that connects to another access layer 3750-B switch.(VTP mode client)
For voice recording I need to setup RSPAN and the nexus5596 does not support RSPAN will the following have any impact on the nexus
IF I move the 3750-B to VTP server mode and run the command remote span on the VLan I need to Rspan its going to update the VTP data base in short it will update the vlan.dat file for all the switch in that VTP domain.
AS the vtp update reaches the nexus saying there is a change (keeping in mind the nexus does not support rspan not sure hows its going to handle that request and how its going to update its vlan.dat file)
Is it going to incremment the VTP revision number? can it crash the vlan.dat file on the nexus ? or do nothing and ignore the update and stop the update from proceeding to the 3750 A switch?

Jan 15, 2013We just installed a hosted VOIP system using Cisco 7900 series IP phones. We are having a strange issue with a few computers where they pull DHCP information from our VOIP provider's DHCP server on the Internet and not our LAN DHCP server.
The switchports areconfigured as: switchport mode access
My rationale behind this is that the phones would use CDP to get their VLAN info from the providers Cisco router and the PCs would just ride on the default VLAN. But this is not the case. Computers randomly keep getting DHCP info from the provider's router. Do I have to use voice vlan x and make the switchports trunks?

Apr 11, 2005I have a 2811 that I'm in the process of turning-up to support a 4xT1 using VWIC-2MFT-T1's. The question is how to "correctly" set clocking on the MFT's.
As is typical of the 2MFT's, as soon as a 2nd T-1 on a VWIC-2MFT comes up, I start taking "Slip Sec"s on the 2nd T-1. I have tried different clock source combinations, including "clock source line primary", various "network-clock-participate" (or not) combinations, and about a dozen other stab-in-the-dark configurations. Before I started playing with it, the slips were consistently every 9 seconds. After playing with it, I got them to every 18 seconds. But there shouldn't be ANY. So the question is what SHOULD the correct timing configuration be on that platform?
The VWIC-2MFT-T1's are in slots 1 and 3, so the controllers involved are 0/1/0, 0/1/1, 0/3/0 and 0/3/1.

I have noticed in some case, i lose connectivity between ACS and AD and when i say test connection , it shows clock skew error . Reboot of ACS sometimes solves the issue, else it comes up automatically after some hours . In core switch , i have configured time as PST +4 and in ACS it is configured as PST +4 , which automatically goes to GST.

Jan 16, 2011I'm trying to get an HP laptop running Win7 to see a desktop running WinXP on my network (both wired and wireless) When I run the troubleshooter in Win7, it tells me "system clock does not match local time" as the reason. I have a Belkin wireless router attached to my cable router. I have updated the system clock via the internet on the desktop and checked the time setting in BIOS. These seem to match. I have googled around on this and can't find any accounts similar. My son's Vista laptop and the Win7 laptop have seen each other since day one. The laptop and desktop did see each other at one time, but the connection was lost after I went to a hotel and changed public network settings temporarily. I can ping the desktop from the laptop, but it times out when pinging the laptop from the desktop. I'm running an avast firewall on both, but can't see a problem there.

Mar 2, 2012When I'm on a fresh boot on my laptop (full shutdown then starting back up) my wifi connects just fine....perfect.However, when I close the screen (its a laptop) and it goes into standby...when I wake it up again my wifi icon by the clock shows that its still obtaining an IP address or whatever (little yellow dot bouncing back and forth over the icon)....The icon will stay like this until the next time I reset the computer....but the entire time my wifi works as it should....its just the icon thats being weird.

If I unplug the network cable and plug it back in I will get two successful pings. If i use a PC configured with the same network settings as the time clock and plug it into the port for the time clock it communicates fine.

Feb 19, 2013I have a CME that has a FXO card, I can call the CME's number from an on-site phone and it works just fine, but when I try from my cell phone it picks up but doesn't give the dial-tone like it's suppose to, but if I hook an analog line to the phone line I can call that no problem from my cell?

Cisco :: Phone Keeps Registering With Wrong CME?
Jan 6, 2011I have a CME on the other end of my MPLS network. When troubleshooting phone issues i setup a phone on the CME system in question and point its TFTP server to the address of the CME router. Now, i need to point this phone to another CME but it keeps registering with the previous one no matter what i do (the TFTP server is pointed to the new CME). I have tried turning off the auto register, and i have deleted the ephone and its mac address all together but it always registers with the wrong CME.
The phone is a 7962 with a 7914 expansion module.

Feb 19, 2013I am moving an IP Phone from one subnet to another subnet.I have deleted the IP Phone configuration in call manager(System version: 7.0.1.11000-2); however, when adding the same device (same MAC address) again in the call manager, the call manager associates the phone with the old IPv4 address (even though the phone is turned off). The phone is booting up and getting a different IP address on the new subnet, and is always in the "Registering" state. The phone has the right CM IP, TFTP IP, etc. the only difference is the phone IP address and the IP address that the CM is showing in the phone device configuration. I also tried resetting/rebooting and restore phone to default factory setting but it doesn't work, i have few more devices on this new subnet that are working fine.
