I am using Cisco 2960 access switches and dont have NTP server so i can manually set time on switches but problem raised when these switches restart they show their factory default time.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get an HP laptop running Win7 to see a desktop running WinXP on my network (both wired and wireless) When I run the troubleshooter in Win7, it tells me "system clock does not match local time" as the reason. I have a Belkin wireless router attached to my cable router. I have updated the system clock via the internet on the desktop and checked the time setting in BIOS. These seem to match. I have googled around on this and can't find any accounts similar. My son's Vista laptop and the Win7 laptop have seen each other since day one. The laptop and desktop did see each other at one time, but the connection was lost after I went to a hotel and changed public network settings temporarily. I can ping the desktop from the laptop, but it times out when pinging the laptop from the desktop. I'm running an avast firewall on both, but can't see a problem there.

If I unplug the network cable and plug it back in I will get two successful pings. If i use a PC configured with the same network settings as the time clock and plug it into the port for the time clock it communicates fine.

i have few catalyst switches (2960, 3750) and i can't upload to them any files by tftp from my laptop, but i can download from them, and this bug don't appears on two routers.I was change tftp server, type of connection (wifi, cable), turn off firewall on win7, but no dice.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running PI 1.2.1.012 and I'm having issues populating client information. Most of my switches are 2960 series. Specifically I get a lot of MAC Address "Unknown" and nothing in the IP address field. I probably get about 25% of the correct MAC address and 10% of the IP addresses. I also run CiscoWorks Prime LMS 4.3.2. and the user tracking information is about 98% correct pertaining to MAC address and IP address. My other network management tools also are very accurate.

The switches see very few traffic (under 40MB on all interfaces, summed, so far), however, I/O memory utilization is about 80% as can be seen from the show memory command:

The memory allocated is almost all Packet Data, by init, "sho memory io dead" returns zero, the memory usage seems constant, there are no errors on the log, the switches operate correctly, no packet has ever been dropped, CPU usage is about 4%.
Here I showed info for one switch, the other is in the same situation. I just want to know if this behavior is expected, I don't want to find out problems when the switches will be in production whit real traffic.

I would like to get the temperature status from this 2960 switch (and several other models. Normally this OID should be:.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.3.1.6 But it does not return anything.
The termperature status can be found from the command line by running:"sh env temp" This reports back ok, so I assume there is a temperate gauge in the switch.
This oid is part of the "CISCO-ENVMON-MIB" mib and accouding to the Cisco MIB selector it is supported on my switch and IOS - 12.2(25).
(Another thing I woudl like to monitor and should be supported is the fan status oid (.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.4.1.3). That doesn't return anything either.
What do I need to do to get the temperature environment status from SNMP query?
One of my client useing 2960 switch but now face a problen after periodic time power off automaticaly. sometime cooling fan only run. Power of after 10 min or 3/4 hours and after power off it can get any power again. after 10/15 hours when power on then its works again but some times. whats is the problem hardware or software.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with the time synchronization via NTP between a Catalyst 2960 and Catalyst 6509. When I configure the 6509 switch as a NTP reference on the 2960, it does not synchronize with the 6509's NTP server. There is no reachability or ACL-related issue between both switches.
As soon as I configure a second Catalyst 6509 (which is completely identical to the other 6509 and in the same subnet) as a NTP server for the 2960, the time sync with the second 6509 happens immediality.
The first 6509 switch works as a NTP reference for at least 50 other switches and routers in the network - so why not for this one more switch? I checked some "debug ntp packet" and "debug ntp events" outputs and can clearly watch the NTP requests going out of the 2960, but on the 6509 just nothing happens - no debug outputs for this specific 2960, while requests from other devices come in all the time.
Maybe you have already experienced this strange behaviour in the past or got some deeper knowledge in the Cisco NTP server implementation. I could think of some sort of "maximum client limit" in the IOS NTP server, but could not find any mechanism like this in the standard NTP specification. Eventually, you can approve that this is a IOS-specific issue.
I have an doubt about some port in 2960.He have 2 SFP and 2 Fixed Ethernet. Can I use these 4 ports in the same time? Use 2 Ethernet and the 2 SFP with Fiber?

I need to enable/disable a mac access-list on a 2960 scheduled by time. The switch has lanbasek9-mz.122-44.SE6. As the mac access-list can not support time ranges, I tried EEM but seems like it is not supported in this device.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 2811 that I'm in the process of turning-up to support a 4xT1 using VWIC-2MFT-T1's. The question is how to "correctly" set clocking on the MFT's.
As is typical of the 2MFT's, as soon as a 2nd T-1 on a VWIC-2MFT comes up, I start taking "Slip Sec"s on the 2nd T-1. I have tried different clock source combinations, including "clock source line primary", various "network-clock-participate" (or not) combinations, and about a dozen other stab-in-the-dark configurations. Before I started playing with it, the slips were consistently every 9 seconds. After playing with it, I got them to every 18 seconds. But there shouldn't be ANY. So the question is what SHOULD the correct timing configuration be on that platform?
The VWIC-2MFT-T1's are in slots 1 and 3, so the controllers involved are 0/1/0, 0/1/1, 0/3/0 and 0/3/1.
What happens with the sip phone 3905, because i cant set the rigth clock. its always display plus 2 hours from the right time in Brazil.

The better solution is to setup the NTP server and let the rest of the switches to synchnorise the clock with it. How about cisco switch 4948? View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 6500 VSS Core Switch configured as NTP Server .I have installed ACS 5.2 vmware and sucessfuly integrated with the AD . I have noticed in some case, i lose connectivity between ACS and AD and when i say test connection , it shows clock skew error . Reboot of ACS sometimes solves the issue, else it comes up automatically after some hours . In core switch , i have configured time as PST +4 and in ACS it is configured as PST +4 , which automatically goes to GST.
View 15 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm on a fresh boot on my laptop (full shutdown then starting back up) my wifi connects just fine....perfect.However, when I close the screen (its a laptop) and it goes into standby...when I wake it up again my wifi icon by the clock shows that its still obtaining an IP address or whatever (little yellow dot bouncing back and forth over the icon)....The icon will stay like this until the next time I reset the computer....but the entire time my wifi works as it should....its just the icon thats being weird.

Like I said...everything is working as it should..Its done this since I've done the fresh install of Windows, so it has nothing to do with any software I've installed or any of the updates.

View 3 Replies View RelatedCiso 1941 router frozen once a day, sometimes after 2 to 7 days. When the router frozen, no internet connection and cannot login/ping ethernet ports. I can login to console port and copy the error messages below. Reload the router and it will return back to normal operation. Re-installed IOS but still the same.
