Sharing :: Pointers Not Match Up On Both Computers
Dec 19, 2011
On the laptop, the info bar is on the left side, the website tabs on the top, this shifts the other computers screenview down and to the right, it also cuts off the right side and bottom, with still leaving space on the right side and bottom. The pointer on the lap top does not line up with the desktop, because the screen is shifted, but only a portion of the screen is visible anyway. I used the same password and log in on both computers, don't know if they have to be different. There is full a screen option at the top right, but this causes the top tabs and info buttons on the left side to go black.
I have a desktop computer connected by ethernet (VISTA) and a Windows7 laptop by wireless. I am trying to share folders have got the share saying no passwords and yet when I click on a folder it asks for user name and password, no passwords have been set to open either computers.
A desktop running XP, connected via ethernet to a linksys E1200 router that is connected w/ethernet to satelite modem. And a Laptop running Windows 7 that is communicating wireless to the router.Question: Can I share files between the two computers this way, or do I have to get a cradlepoint router?
I was wondering if I plugged an ethernet cable from my laptop (which has wireless internet) into a nearby computer (which does not have internet) if they would share the internet? i did plug in the ethernet cable, and my computer acquires a network address but has limited or no connectivity
I have 2 computers(1 and 2) connected to a router with ethenet cables and printer connected to computer 1. With both computers on, both can use the printer. With computer 1 turned off, computer 2 cannot access the printer. So, what do I need to allow computer 2 to access the computer when computer 1 is off?

I am trying to share my printer with the other 2 computers on my home network. I have the printer connected to my XP machine. The other 2 computers are running XP and Windows 7. The Windows 7 machine is directly connected to the router and my computer and the other XP computer are connected wirelessly.I've shared my printer and given it a share name. But the other 2 computers cannot access my computer for some reason.I'm not sure why they can't access my computer to see the shared printer.
I have a desktop computer running windows xp, it is wired to my router. I am trying to network it together with my laptop that is running windows 7 and connects wirelessly.
I was hoping to be able to save a file on one computer and for it to be accessed from a computer in the next room. The first computer is connected to the internet and when emails are received I would like to save them to a folder in my documents and then be able to go onto the other computer, go to my documents and open the file I just saved from computer one.
First off, for almost ever my two computers (Laptop/Desktop) linked on the same network/home group have been able to transfer files to each other over without any problem. I must have done something when Norton Expired on my Laptop which is causing the problem now. (Both running windows 7)Both computers show up in the network tabs, as normal. From my desktop I can access my laptop like I always could. I can play movies etc. but I can't make any changes or transfer files. As it says "You need permission to perfrom this action."Now from my Laptop, I can also see my Desktop in the network tabs. but I can not view anything on the computer. When I try to browse through the network tabs, I get [Windows cannot access \network error code 0x8007035].
1. I had it working before so I know they are properly connected.
2. Both computers can see eachother
3. My Desktop can browse my laptops files (but not change anything)
4. My Laptop can NOT browse my desktop as it says the network error code
5. Neither Computer has a firewall on
6. Neither Computer is running antivirus software
7. In the Homegroup sharing tabs, both computers are marked as "allowed" in the media streaming options.
Ive recently gotten four computers together on the same workgroup. They are all Windows 7 in some form or fashion, and I need them to be able to share the C:\Usersusername files so we can grab files from others desktops and work on data spread across multiple computers.
Ive tried using the homegroup function and Ive also tried just about everything and I cannot get them to access each others folders. No matter what I do it says I dont have the access privileges required to open folders on another computer. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would consider myself an 8 or 9 in being technologically savvy, and after an entire day working on it Im just unable to figure this out.
-All computers are on the same workgroup
-All computers can see each other on the network
-All computers have file sharing enabled
-Firewalls are completely off
-All computers run through the same router (though 2 go through a hub then the router, the other 2 go through another hub then router)
When I go to "advanced sharing settings" and try to give permission to a user on another computer the work group doesn't even appear. I can only give access to local users on each individual computer.
I`m looking to have a play with VPN, but as my original plans to install PFSense onto a SuperMicro 5015a-EHF system are on hold due to availablility/Pricing issues, I`m lookin at doing it with my current IPCop.
Mooching around I find Zerina but after getting throught to the SSH directory and unpacking bit, it turns out zerina only supports ipcop up to 1.4.early version!
Further digging around gets me onto openVPN so I go down the same route but with no easily available walkthrough/howto I quickly found myself struggling and discovered the ipcop forums which, from what I have read, have to be the single most unfriendly forum I have ever discovered. How to get VPN set up on my IPCop?
I was wondering if it is possible to share my internet connection to specific computers on my home network. Both my laptop and desktop computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi router (no internet connection). This network connection is mainly used for file sharing. I want to share the mobile internet connection on my laptop with my pc without giving the other computers on my network access to the internet connection and without disconnecting from the home Wi-Fi router. Is this possible and if so how
I have a friend with a mac laptop that I need to transfer roughly ~110 GB from. I have a laptop that dual boots Windows 7 and Kubuntu 12.10. Easiest way to directly transfer these files between our computersNeither of us has a large enough external hard drive.
how can I make a folder that gets updated on a computer does the same thing to another computer on the same network, so while I add new music to my music folder on one computer it updates the files on the other computer? How can I do this? For instance I add a song to the album folder UNKNOWN on a downstairs computer Upstairs computer gets the song updated in the the UNKNOWN Album folder.
How do you set up a network of 2 computers so that one computer without the actual software on its hard drive can run programs that are on the other computers hard drive?
I can't seem to receive emails although I can send them and my prinet is off line. Had an IT guy come out and got me to the internet but he didn't make sure I was receing emails or able to print.
My ISP provides static ip based internet connection. I have setup my D-link DWR-113 router to access internet through it. I have also turned on DHCP in the router. But when I try to access internet using both of my computers simultaneously it doesn't work - none of the computers is able to load a webpage. And when I leave one computer I am able to surf without any problem.
They both have laptops and share data via a flash drive and emails between the two laptops. This is the scenario, They both input data into one excel spreadsheet on laptop 1. Laptop 2 works on data, puts it onto a flash drive then goes to laptop 1 and opens the spreadsheet and enters data from flash drive. My thought is wouldn't it be great if they could use some type of VPN? They could both work from home and access each others computer files, spreadsheet and databases.
When I was using my Linksys router, I had no difficulties setting up Windows File Sharing on my computers but since I upgraded to the DIR-655, file sharing have hardly worked. Sometimes I could get one of the computers access files on another, but not the other away around. Most of the time, none of the computers have access to the files on any of the other computers. Two of the computers run Windows XP and another one runs Windows Vista. All computers are on the same workgroup and able to connect to the internet through the router. When calling D-Link tech support, I am told that they dont support file sharing and that I had to contact each computer's manufacture's tech support on the instructions on setting up the file sharing (each computer is from a different manufacture). One of the tech supports did drop the slight hint that I needed to recreate the home network, but when I tried to do that, all I could find is the settings to connect to the router (which I had set up when I installed the new router) and to enable file sharing (which is already done) and to assign the workgroup, which they were all are already assigned to the same group.
I've just installed a RV042G router for the first time. The computers connect to the internet just fine, but they can no longer see each other through the Windows workgroup. I can ping the router, but not other computers on the net. The router doesn't seem to be sharing the names of the other computers on the net.
I have 2 computers in my room which between them i very frequently share files between. Wirelessly they were both connected to my home's router until recently the router was removed, but will be back soon. The problem though, was that with using the router, file sharing between those computers was slow, and with the router gone, I was lost because there was no movement of data between the computers whatsoever, I had no crossover cable, but plenty of regular ethernet cable. Than I remembered something about gigabit lan not needing crossovers(both of the computers being gigabit) and I connected them, and marveled at the new way to share files. And more by the exponential boost in speed(800kb/s to a grand 12mb/s{though I still think that is slow for gigabit.}). Obviously I've overcome a problem, but that's not where this story ends, it comes with another problem. When the router is reconnected to these computers, will the files still transfer through there new found direct connection? or will it attempt to go through the router, only allowing me to get the speeds I want when one of these computers isn't connected to the router?
I just installed the E2500 to replace my older router. With my older router I was able to share files between the different computers in my house. All I did was replace the old router with the new one and now they cant share files? I looked through the router settings and cant find anything showing firewall blocking the file and print sharing. why I cant share the files and how to allow the file sharing?
This is happening to me to multiple computers on my domain. When it happens i can only log in as a local user or if I unplug the network cable, log in and then re-connect the networkThe time on all these machines is correct within at least 1 minute but still it's throwing off this error. When reading about this problem I see many fixes that all relate to how to sych the time on the PC.
Data link-ARP,RARP, presentation-SSL,TSL,ASCII,JPG, Session layer-ASP(apple talk session protocol),SCP are these correct?can your provide 2 new protocols for each with the long name?
I live in a shared house, and I am the only one who has been experiencing issues connecting to the internet. I have to ask a housemate to reset the server, as this is the only thing that works.
When I am unable to connect, and I use command ipconfig, the following appears: Autoconfiguration IPv4 169.254.23.29 On the occasions when I am connected, the following appears in its place: IPv4 IP Address: 192.168.0.2
One tip that I came across was to check the box (Wireless Network properties, Connection tab) for "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting". I had hoped this simple solution would assist, but to no avail.
We have pair of Cisco Nexus 7018 with four eight port 10gig modules.I have created two VDC's with mixing 10gig ports from diffrent modules. Now we requied some one gig SFP ports and we are planning to buy 48 port 1gig sfp+ card.My question is can
1- Can I still mix and match 1gig and 10 gig ports in two different VDC's? (1-24 for VDC1 and 25-48 for VDC2)
2- All 48 port module hve to allocate to one VDC which alreday have all 10gig ports.
While on facebook I search a friend and in the search bar it says we have say 10 mutual friends however when I click this person to and view their profile it suddenly says we only have 8 mutual friends. An even stranger thing is I have a friend on facebook (she has her friend's list hidden) who will appear on MOST mutual friends lists of others I am also friends with. However she won't appear on two of my friend's mutual list when I am CERTAIN she is friends with them and also she will appear on mutual lists of some I am not friends with but also fail to appear on mutual lists of people I'm not friends with but I know she is. TO SUMMARIZE:1.) why doesn't the mutual friends number match up. it will say 10 mutual friends but show 8.2.) why does she not appear on some lists but does on others when I KNOW she should be on the others know of any scripts to just see hidden friend lists?
I'm trying to get an HP laptop running Win7 to see a desktop running WinXP on my network (both wired and wireless) When I run the troubleshooter in Win7, it tells me "system clock does not match local time" as the reason. I have a Belkin wireless router attached to my cable router. I have updated the system clock via the internet on the desktop and checked the time setting in BIOS. These seem to match. I have googled around on this and can't find any accounts similar. My son's Vista laptop and the Win7 laptop have seen each other since day one. The laptop and desktop did see each other at one time, but the connection was lost after I went to a hotel and changed public network settings temporarily. I can ping the desktop from the laptop, but it times out when pinging the laptop from the desktop. I'm running an avast firewall on both, but can't see a problem there.
I have a problem with latest Anyconnect Mobile clients, on any device(iPhone,PC..) I have this error message.Anyconnect cannot verify the VPN serverAll certificates(rootCA,userCER) - installed on client side, all of them are trusted.
I'm getting an "ACL does not match proxy IDs" error that I'm not able to troubleshoot, googled this with a lot of results, tried some; but nothing applied.I have setup 2 tunnels, 1/one from a pix 515e (office) to an ASA 5505 (hosted server) for my guys to access the hosted server2/A second one from the ASA 5505 to my client's firewall so that its equipments can reach the hosted server and from the hosted server reach the equipments. Both tunnels are working fine, my issue comes when I'm trying to join my clients equipments from my office, ie cascading the tunnels.
This is the first time I'm trying to cascade some tunnels, no issues with other vpns I have been building.I'm joining the configuration of the pix and the asa and an extract of the syslogs showing the error, any obvious error I haven't seen!
