Both my laptop and desktop computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi router (no internet connection). This network connection is mainly used for file sharing. I want to share the mobile internet connection on my laptop with my pc without giving the other computers on my network access to the internet connection and without disconnecting from the home Wi-Fi router. Is this possible and if so how

And when I leave one computer I am able to surf without any problem.

My Dlink DIR-615 had worked flawlessly for almost 7 months now.But since last week it started showing problems. All the computers connected to LAN thru the switch could not access the Internet but the Server(192.168.0.100) which is connected to the DIR-615 could connect to the internet.the above screenshot was captured thru a laptop running Win7 Ultimate connected to the DIR-615 thru WiFi-n.Even after repeated Reloads the same error cropped up in the browsers in the computers connected thru the switch. The computers connected to the switch could access the Internet after I restarted the router.

I am trying to share my printer with the other 2 computers on my home network. I have the printer connected to my XP machine. The other 2 computers are running XP and Windows 7. The Windows 7 machine is directly connected to the router and my computer and the other XP computer are connected wirelessly.I've shared my printer and given it a share name. But the other 2 computers cannot access my computer for some reason.I'm not sure why they can't access my computer to see the shared printer.
On the laptop, the info bar is on the left side, the website tabs on the top, this shifts the other computers screenview down and to the right, it also cuts off the right side and bottom, with still leaving space on the right side and bottom. The pointer on the lap top does not line up with the desktop, because the screen is shifted, but only a portion of the screen is visible anyway. I used the same password and log in on both computers, don't know if they have to be different. There is full a screen option at the top right, but this causes the top tabs and info buttons on the left side to go black.

View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst off, for almost ever my two computers (Laptop/Desktop) linked on the same network/home group have been able to transfer files to each other over without any problem. I must have done something when Norton Expired on my Laptop which is causing the problem now. (Both running windows 7)Both computers show up in the network tabs, as normal. From my desktop I can access my laptop like I always could. I can play movies etc. but I can't make any changes or transfer files. As it says "You need permission to perfrom this action."Now from my Laptop, I can also see my Desktop in the network tabs. but I can not view anything on the computer. When I try to browse through the network tabs, I get [Windows cannot access \network error code 0x8007035].
1. I had it working before so I know they are properly connected.
2. Both computers can see eachother
3. My Desktop can browse my laptops files (but not change anything)
4. My Laptop can NOT browse my desktop as it says the network error code
5. Neither Computer has a firewall on
6. Neither Computer is running antivirus software
7. In the Homegroup sharing tabs, both computers are marked as "allowed" in the media streaming options.
Ive recently gotten four computers together on the same workgroup. They are all Windows 7 in some form or fashion, and I need them to be able to share the C:\Usersusername files so we can grab files from others desktops and work on data spread across multiple computers.
Ive tried using the homegroup function and Ive also tried just about everything and I cannot get them to access each others folders. No matter what I do it says I dont have the access privileges required to open folders on another computer. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would consider myself an 8 or 9 in being technologically savvy, and after an entire day working on it Im just unable to figure this out.
-All computers are on the same workgroup
-All computers can see each other on the network
-All computers have file sharing enabled
-Firewalls are completely off
-All computers run through the same router (though 2 go through a hub then the router, the other 2 go through another hub then router)
When I go to "advanced sharing settings" and try to give permission to a user on another computer the work group doesn't even appear. I can only give access to local users on each individual computer.
My problem is that I have a Cisco 300 series small business switch with multiple VLANS each one with an IP address and two or three ports assigned to each VLAN. I have an E3200 wireless router that I want to use to use to share internet on the switch. All of the VLANs are reachable from the other VLANs and I've put a static route on the E3200 so that I can reach the VLANs from a machine connected only to the router. But I can't reach machines on the otherside of the router or get to the internet from the switch.

Laptop 2 works on data, puts it onto a flash drive then goes to laptop 1 and opens the spreadsheet and enters data from flash drive. My thought is wouldn't it be great if they could use some type of VPN? They could both work from home and access each others computer files, spreadsheet and databases.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I was using my Linksys router, I had no difficulties setting up Windows File Sharing on my computers but since I upgraded to the DIR-655, file sharing have hardly worked. Sometimes I could get one of the computers access files on another, but not the other away around. Most of the time, none of the computers have access to the files on any of the other computers. Two of the computers run Windows XP and another one runs Windows Vista. All computers are on the same workgroup and able to connect to the internet through the router. When calling D-Link tech support, I am told that they dont support file sharing and that I had to contact each computer's manufacture's tech support on the instructions on setting up the file sharing (each computer is from a different manufacture). One of the tech supports did drop the slight hint that I needed to recreate the home network, but when I tried to do that, all I could find is the settings to connect to the router (which I had set up when I installed the new router) and to enable file sharing (which is already done) and to assign the workgroup, which they were all are already assigned to the same group.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 computers in my room which between them i very frequently share files between. Wirelessly they were both connected to my home's router until recently the router was removed, but will be back soon. The problem though, was that with using the router, file sharing between those computers was slow, and with the router gone, I was lost because there was no movement of data between the computers whatsoever, I had no crossover cable, but plenty of regular ethernet cable. Than I remembered something about gigabit lan not needing crossovers(both of the computers being gigabit) and I connected them, and marveled at the new way to share files. And more by the exponential boost in speed(800kb/s to a grand 12mb/s{though I still think that is slow for gigabit.}). Obviously I've overcome a problem, but that's not where this story ends, it comes with another problem. When the router is reconnected to these computers, will the files still transfer through there new found direct connection? or will it attempt to go through the router, only allowing me to get the speeds I want when one of these computers isn't connected to the router?

Laptop1 connects via CAT5 (non-crossover) RJ-45 into a switch (port 1). Laptop2 connects via CAT5 (non-crossover) RJ-45 into port 2 of switch. Both ends of the CAT5 are, of course, connected into each laptop's network connector.pinging resulted in timed out from both.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn one area, we have a server, and two computers that use that server extensively. Right now all the computers are on wi-fi.I know if I ran the computers through a switch they could share data more quickly. The problem I have is there is no way to get a cat connection to this area.If I got a range extender with switching ports built-in would it still speed this data up? Or would it be irrelevant because it still has to travel via wi-fi to the router and back?
View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically, my home network is comprised of a WRT54GS Router which the cable modem and my main computer are plugged into (as well as vonage, networked printer). That leaves one port open which is used to connect a Dlink DES-1105 10/100 switch. I am connecting it using a crossover cable, though that was not necessary.I just noticed that a computer connected to that switch gets MUCH less download speeds at speedtest.net, and it gets STUCK on the upload test (doesn't even start).I unplugged it and plugged it directly into the router for testing. I get 20-30 megs down (like I should), rather than 5-11 like the switch gave me (ONCE the switch gave me over 20, not sure why..)The upload test NEVER runs though. I've tried different computers as well. I tried setting the computer to "100 full duplex" manually and no luck.
