Aug 27, 2012What are the VMware requirements to run ACS4.1.4? Im trying to use a VM this as the migration server. According to the cisco docs, it states that: "ACS 4.1 has been tested on the VMWare ESX server with the following configuration:
•VMWare ESX Server 3.0.0
•16 GB of RAM
•AMD Opteron Dual Core processor
•300 GB hard drive
•Four virtual machines
•Windows 2003 Standard Edition
•3 GB of RAM for the guest operating system"
I understand it will work as it "has been tested" with those specs, but the doc does not state the minimum requirements for the virtual machine. I dont want to use/find 300GB of space if I only need 20GB(as an example) to make it work.

Jun 7, 2011I'm with problems to migrate the ACS 5.1 hardware to ACS 5.1 vmware. In my infraestructure I have a appliance with ACS 5.1 and I need to migrate to vmware to do HA. I installed vmware as the Cisco ACS recommendations. I made a backup of the ACS hardware and copied the local disk vmware ACS.
When I start the restore process after a few minutes an error occurs:

Mar 7, 2012I have a client that is running ACS 5.3 as a VM in ESX 4.1. The client wants their VMWare admins to have the ability to shut down the ACS server during maintenance etc... I know I could create a CLI user with admin priviliges, however, assigning full admin priviliges is beyond the scope of what the user requires. They simply want a user account with the added privilige of performing a halt from the CLI. In the CLI Reference Guide for ACS.
So is it possible to create an account with user priviliges, then modify its permissions to allow for a halt?

Based on the documentation I should access the "https://10.0.0.X/acsadmin" on my browser's url but after I hit enter nothing comes up, there's just a whiter web page. Apr 18, 2011 I need this SSL certficate installation on my acs appliance 1120 for PEAP clients.I have exported SSL server certficate from my old acs 3.3 server which is under acscertstore folder issued by CA vendor . I need to reuse this same SSL certificate on my acs appliance .ACS appliance certficate setup requires following two certificate to be installed for PEAP clients authentication
1) Server Certificate
2) CA certificate
Server Certificate : For server certifcate , I have my old certificate which is exported from my old acs 3.3 server , when i tried to download my server certficate via ftp server on my acs appliance , its looking for private key & private key file .Private key & file is generated intially on CSR request when this server certificate is requested to CA vendor for my old acs 3.3 . I dont know the private key password . If i need private key & file , then i need to generate new CSR from my acs appliance and i need to submit this CSR output to my CA vendor to generate new SSL server certificate .which is something like new server certificate request .CA certficate : For CA certficate , when i open my existing SSL certificate under detials tab in CRL distribution point , i could see below URL . whn i open this URL it giving certificate revocation list . Apr 24, 2012Ok so I am working on this networking project for cleaning up our Internal DNS. So we are running untangle that uses DHCP. I am currently going though and 'Reserving' the IP addresses for each work station. This way we can connect to workstations and install software remotely. Problem is our Host (A) records are so messed up and PTR records point to multiple users/pcs. I am aware of scavenging, but we have that set to 14 days per our network admin, but during this time the DNS gets messed up because we have 30 people in our office running MAC's with VM bootcamp and they also use VPN connections. So for instance I use Mac with parallels 7. I used both wired and wireless connections to the internet. This creates 2 IP addresses that needs to be reserved and 1 bridged connection for my VM. So Technically I would have 3 host A records and 3 PTR records? But what about the VPN connection? Sometimes when other ping my work station (ex. ping link2057macbook) it returns an IP address that I used for my VPN and not the correct IP.

Thin Client Or Workstation PC For Network?
Jun 16, 2011I am setting up the network for the computer institue I work for. We are discarding the old network and are going for a new network. There will be 2 Computer Labs with 60 computers in each Lab. The staffroom will have 20 computers. The Accounts department will have 5 computers. All the departments are in the same building with just 2 floors. It will be a wired network. All computers should have access to the Internet. There will be a printer each in the 2 Labs, staffroom & accounts department which has to be shared with their respective network. The Lab computers will run MS Office, Adobe software etc. Likewise the the staffroom and accounts department computers will also have to run MS Office and probably Adobe software as well. We will be using Windows Server 2003 and are inclined to use IBM servers due to a partnership. Cost isn't a major issue and the management is willing to spend to set this up rightly in the first place.My main question is whether we should go for a thin client network with everything running in the main servers. In that case how many servers should we have and what would be the ideal config of those servers.If we go for workstation PCs for each user if cost isn't an issue then what are the benefits over thin client computersDo we have to have a separate server for data?

Since they installed the machine won't connect to the network shares. It can access the internet easily enough. The Workstation Service won't start. It comes up with an error 1068: The dependancy service or group failed to start. I used System restore to go back before the updates and everything worked again. Installed the updates and the problem re-appears. I have 2 wireless network adaptors so I disabled one.

Server plugged into switch.Switch plugged into router.Router DHCPs except printer is static IP. All have access to internet through server then out through router.Have added another workstation that is not allowed access to the network (on purpose) but needs to be able to use the printer. The workstation is not under our security for virus control, etc so I don't want it in the server. But it needs access to internet and access to printer. Should I create a separate subnet from the router and keep the workstation separate there? If so, then how can I keep the printer accessible to both subnets?

I need to be able to access a server 172.17.0.10 on port 4899 from workstation 172.16.1.192. My ACL's are listed above (obviously!). It's not working as it is. My suspiscion is the deny ip 172.17.0.0 0.0.0.255 172.16.0.0 0.15.255.255 in ACL 120. But that is required as we cant have users from the 172.17 network seeing/accessing the 172.16 network.

If I used this info with Cisco VPN client on a computer, the connection works great but I do not how to configure my 881 with the same information. The 881 router is connected behind an ADSL Modem.
