Cisco VPN :: Configure 881 Router Which Has IP-Phone 7975 And One Workstation
Jan 21, 2013
Yesterday I tried to configure a 881 router which has an IP-Phone 7975 and one workstation. However the CUCM is in the other part of the city. The network where the CUCM has been connected can be reachable by VPN.
From the VPN router I have the following information:
-Public Static IP-Adress
-Group username & Group Key
-Username & password
If I used this info with Cisco VPN client on a computer, the connection works great but I do not how to configure my 881 with the same information. The 881 router is connected behind an ADSL Modem.

I just moved into my mother house until I find a new house and need to connect my computer. Se has a wireless router. I have a server that was previously connected to a router and a workstation was connected to the router as well. It was all previously connected to the Internet via cables. How can I connect wirelessly? I am assuming I need a adapter to connect to the Internet. Do I connect the adapter to the server or is there an adapter that connects to the router?

Ok so I am working on this networking project for cleaning up our Internal DNS. So we are running untangle that uses DHCP. I am currently going though and 'Reserving' the IP addresses for each work station. This way we can connect to workstations and install software remotely. Problem is our Host (A) records are so messed up and PTR records point to multiple users/pcs. I am aware of scavenging, but we have that set to 14 days per our network admin, but during this time the DNS gets messed up because we have 30 people in our office running MAC's with VM bootcamp and they also use VPN connections. So for instance I use Mac with parallels 7. I used both wired and wireless connections to the internet. This creates 2 IP addresses that needs to be reserved and 1 bridged connection for my VM. So Technically I would have 3 host A records and 3 PTR records? But what about the VPN connection? Sometimes when other ping my work station (ex. ping link2057macbook) it returns an IP address that I used for my VPN and not the correct IP.

I am setting up the network for the computer institue I work for. We are discarding the old network and are going for a new network. There will be 2 Computer Labs with 60 computers in each Lab. The staffroom will have 20 computers. The Accounts department will have 5 computers. All the departments are in the same building with just 2 floors. It will be a wired network. All computers should have access to the Internet. There will be a printer each in the 2 Labs, staffroom & accounts department which has to be shared with their respective network. The Lab computers will run MS Office, Adobe software etc. Likewise the the staffroom and accounts department computers will also have to run MS Office and probably Adobe software as well. We will be using Windows Server 2003 and are inclined to use IBM servers due to a partnership. Cost isn't a major issue and the management is willing to spend to set this up rightly in the first place. My main question is whether we should go for a thin client network with everything running in the main servers. In that case how many servers should we have and what would be the ideal config of those servers. If we go for workstation PCs for each user if cost isn't an issue then what are the benefits over thin client computersDo we have to have a separate server for data?

I cannot ping mydomain.local from any computer on my network. In order to this, I have to set DNS 1 as my server's ip address, then I can ping it. The reason this is a problem is because in order to add a workstation to my domain, I have to manually configure DNS to my server's ip. I have two networks, all new systems and this occurs on both. So obviously it is the way im setting things up[CODE]

a workstation on our domain running windows 7 64 bit downloaded updates from microsoft. There was about a hundred of them. Since they installed the machine won't connect to the network shares. It can access the internet easily enough. The Workstation Service won't start. It comes up with an error 1068: The dependancy service or group failed to start. I used System restore to go back before the updates and everything worked again. Installed the updates and the problem re-appears. I have 2 wireless network adaptors so I disabled one.

I have a hardwired network with 10 workstations plugged into switch. Printer plugged into switch. Server plugged into switch.Switch plugged into router.Router DHCPs except printer is static IP. All have access to internet through server then out through router.Have added another workstation that is not allowed access to the network (on purpose) but needs to be able to use the printer. The workstation is not under our security for virus control, etc so I don't want it in the server. But it needs access to internet and access to printer. Should I create a separate subnet from the router and keep the workstation separate there? If so, then how can I keep the printer accessible to both subnets?

I'm learning as I go and am having some problems with an ACL:
Extended IP access list 120
permit tcp 172.17.0.0 0.0.0.255 host 172.16.1.7 eq 15871
deny ip 172.17.0.0 0.0.0.255 10.0.0.0 0.255.255.255
deny ip 172.17.0.0 0.0.0.255 172.16.0.0 0.15.255.255
deny ip 172.17.0.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255
permit ip any any
Extended IP access list 130
permit tcp host 172.16.1.192 host 172.17.0.10 eq 4899
permit ip any any
I need to be able to access a server 172.17.0.10 on port 4899 from workstation 172.16.1.192. My ACL's are listed above (obviously!). It's not working as it is. My suspiscion is the deny ip 172.17.0.0 0.0.0.255 172.16.0.0 0.15.255.255 in ACL 120. But that is required as we cant have users from the 172.17 network seeing/accessing the 172.16 network.

We have a workstation that processes sensitive information and we want that workstation to only have access to very select endpoints on our LOCAL LAN and also internet access.
Solutions:
1. At first we explored VACL, this worked well except when the workstation needed to be moved around the environment to a switch that didn't support VACL (2960).
2. We explored a VLAN but thought that a routable VLAN with one single IP Address was somewhat wasteful, hoped there was something easier

I have a Vista Workstation that out of the blue today stopped connecting to the internet after applying the windows updates. I have gone back and rolled them out but it still will not connect. It is hardwired (Ethernet) to a cisco e4200 router that gets its internet from a motorola surfboard cable modem. I tried it with a wireless connection and had the same issue.Other computers on the network work fine both connected with ethernet and wireless. It won't assign an IP even though dhcp is enabled on the router, so I assigned a static one and it sees the local network just fine, I'm copying files from it to my NAS server without a problem.

I have an HP Workstation that I have been working at constantly to get up and running on the network, it had "OpenCloudSecurity" adaware on it I believe and I was able to get that off with a couple of my freeware tools. The problem I am having is simply it will not connect to the network and only shows. 0Sent 0 Recieved and doesn't pull and IP configuration. I skimmed around and found that sometimes adaware/spyware can play with the TCPIP Stack and that your best bet is to reset the TCPIP stack and WINSOCK ; I did TCPIP Reset and Winsock multiple times with multiple reboots . I know it isn't the ethernet card because I popped in a live Ubuntu CD and it connected just fine on the wired ethernet.

I have a single workstation on an AS400 domain server, which is administered by a contract company, that continues to freeze up and then is kicked out of the network. The strange thing is that the computer also gets kicked off the Internet at the same time. I had the employee work from her laptop using the WI-FI connection while I attempted to troubleshoot the problem, and the laptop had the same thing happen. The strange thing is that she is the only one this is happening to. I originally thought it was a bad ethernet cable or bad port on the switch, but after the laptop had the same thing happen I decided the problem was else where. The contract company says that the problem has to be on my end, but thing that there could be something in her settings causing the problem. I have pinged the server with no problem, run a trace route with no errors reported, and made sure that the computer is set to a static IP as well. I have checked to make sure there are no other PC's. I also connected the cable to a different port on the office switch, connected my laptop with no problem, and had another employee sign onto her PC with a different sign on with no problems.

A month ago my ISP was routing half my subnet (129-254) over DSL. I just moved and routing no longer works without NAT. The issue is probably with the new DSL 'modem,' a zhone 1611-A1, but I am not sure how it should be configured. The 1611 is connected to a WRT610N, which works in NAT mode with the following settings:[code] With the previous settings, networking doesn't work from a workstation, though I can traceroute from the 610. I would like all workstations on the "LAN" to have fully addressable internet addresses like the previous configuration. There is an admin interface on the 1611, but the cursory settings I've tried don't work and I'm not a routing expert. The ISP is kindly routing my network, but they don't provide much support.

I have an HP 8710 Workstation laptop running WindowsXP that just recently starting having problems maintaining an internet connection with my ATT Elevate mobile hotspot. My internet connection will work for 1-2 minutes and then end up timing out. I then have to disconnect and then reconnect to the wireless network to get connectivity. I was using was my laptop's built-in wifi card (Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN) when this was occurring, then switched to a wifi adapter (Linksys AE1000) and still the problem persists. I contacted ATT and they checked the cell towers, nothing is wrong and everything seems to be working. I've tried upgrading all the drivers, still no success.
