View 8 RepliesI am attempting to install an asa 5510 at my hq. Our MPLS network is provided by our ISP and the routers are managed by them. They will be working with me to add the needed routes to the routers. Using version 8.4.1 That said, here is my challenge:
I am connecting the MPLS routers and WAAS device to my core switch(also performing inter-vlan routing) in VLAN 2. There are 3 connections needed for the mpls equipment and they are all in vlan 2 on my core switch. The firewall (ASA 5510 with security plus licensing) also has an interface (outside) in vlan 2.

configuration guides or suggest TAC as they have been a bit inconsistent with this issue thus far. What am I missing because I cannot get to where inside interface of the firewall is pingable by the lan and the outside interface of the firewall is pingable by the lan.
I wanted to ask a question about the diagram I have included. We are bringing up 2 MPLS WAN connections and would like some specifics on the best design. We are using BGP to the providers. From there we have big questions. We can run BGP internal and are licensed to do so on the N5K's. The N5Ks are currently using HSRP for inside LAN clients as default gateway. We want to load balance and provide redundant routes using a dynamic approach. Should we use BGP internal utilizing the connections between the routers? Should we use HSRP on the routers? How best to get the routes to the N5K and should we be considering this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 7206 VXR router between a several Mikrotik routers on our backbone. We have the Mikrotiks on both sides of the CIsco 7206VXR setup for MPLS/VPLS. I need to simply setup the 7206 to pass the MPLS/VPLS tagged packets to the next router on the link. We are using OSPF as the routing protocol. I am told by our Mikrotik guy that I just need to enable LDP and VPLS tunnels 4:0 on the 2 gig interfaces on the 7206VXR to let it pass the MPLS/VPLS traffic. It sounds simple but I'm not sure how to do this.
Any commands I need to imput to allow this router to pass this MPLS/VPLS traffic.
I am working for a company based in Sydney Australia, the company recently open an office in London UK, therefore we are going to get leased lined based on MPLS.We were advised that Customer Edge router will be CISCO1941/K9. We want to our UK client to access our web-based applications via MPLS network instead of internet. The UK office is using BT Business ADSL with 5 Static IP address (please note the modem IP address is actually dynamic), we are going to get a Cisco 857/K9 router which will be used for the entry for the UK client to access the MPLS network. My question will be how do I configure the Cisco 857 router to allow one of the public ip to access the MPLS network. It appears that there are two options, and I am not sure if this is going to work or which one is working better. I have attached two diagrams for clarification of my case.
Option 1 Cisco WAN interface get Dynamic IP (PPPoA) from BT LAN Interface (4 Port) get the assigned 5 Static IP addresses One of the five IPs (217.xx.xx.169) will be assigned to the FE1 (Cisco 1941), any traffic to 217.xx.xx.169 will be routed to the WAN interface of Cisco 1941 to access Sydney service (located in Sydney LAN, mostly http and https traffic) One of the five IPs to 217.xx.xx.170 will be assigned to the WAN interface of Sonicwall Firewall Router which also serve as Internet Access Gateway for LAN users, All trafiic destined for Sydney LAN will be using FE0 (Cisco 1941) as gateway
Option 2Cisco WAN interface get Dynamic IP (PPPoA) from BT LAN Interface (4 Port) will get 192.168.0.1, Cisco 857 router will be the default gateway for LAN users, using one to many NAT, also one to one NAT, One of the five IPs (217.xx.xx.169) will be forwarded to the FE0 (Cisco 1941), any traffic to 217.xx.xx.169 will be routed to the WAN interface of Cisco 1941 to access Sydney service (located in Sydney LAN, mostly http and https traffic)
Before going further let me tell you I hate QoS..the policies that I applied. I am trying to create reserve traffic for a CE but when I try to download or upload the traffic goes from 2MB which is where it should stay to up to 6MB?completly losted, I will not move to ccnp sp like this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have 2mb mpls network between three sites. Each site also has its own internet connection for hosting webserver and internal users to access internet. Each site has a few internal subnets. Each site currently has a 2800 series ISR.
1) Increase Internet connection to 10mbps and configure site-to-site VPNS in a mesh configuration so that each site has a vpn to each other site. This would create six vpn tunnels.
2) Configure so that only Exchange and VoiP traffic use the MPLS network under normal conditions. All other traffic (backup/misc apps) should be routed to use the Internet VPNs. If the MPLS fails of course we would like the Exchange and VoiP traffic to fail over to the VPN connections as well until the MPLS comes back up.
I have a L3 core switch with multiple VLANs setup. Is there a way to place an IPS so as to monitor the traffic passing between, lets say, VLANS 1-3 and VLANs 4-10?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new E4200v2 that I got from Amazon a few months ago and I haven't had any problems with it while it's up and running. My problem comes when the power to it is some how interrupted. When this happens, I can not connect to the internet. I can get to the router pages and the modem pages. I even changed out the the modem recently and the router still has the same problem.
I tried saving a working configuration file and restoring it after a fail, but that doesn't work. When I do a factory restore, I still can't connect until I use the stupid Cisco disk. In order to get back online I have to do a factory restore, use the Cisco setup disk, then reset my settings. All without removing power. My old router a WRT54GS v5 never had this problem. I need a router that works without having to set it up every time the power goes out.
i want to remove the sync-profile on each of two synchronized Nexus 5596UP without loosing the config stored in Switch-Profile. That means without connectivity interruption and re-configuration of interfaces in "conf t mode", for example. Since NX-OS Release 5.2(1)N1(1) there is a new command
switch(config-sync)# no switch-profile abc profile-onlyprofile-only—Deletes the switch profile without the local configuration.

I have an old computer that is currently running XP at 2.1GHz Athlon AMD with 1.5 DDR RAM, would I be able to turn it into a dedicated server? More importantly, should I? all I have is a small home network running a couple desktops and a printer off one and connected by a wireless router to the internet, would it make a difference at all in processing speed or connectivity on any of them?

It will have my connection strength icon on the icon tray and then just randomly display an adapter with a red cross through it.I have made sure that the adapter is not set to turn off on power save but still the problem persists.I thought it could be the adapter being loose inside the laptop but if i give the laptop a small shake it doesn't disconnect and I opened up the laptop and everything seems fine. This is where it gets a bit strange. If I close the laptop lid then open it again, the wireless is fine, but will drop off again about a minute later.
I need to find a way to PERMANENTLY disable the network adapter from turning off to save power. Its this setting here. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Every time I restart the computer it rechecks that box. I manage an office with about 10 computers and this power saving feature is making the software they use very unstable.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using an HP pavilion desktop, and an apple airport. Whenever I connect my desktop to the router, it stops sending its signal out. It simply stops appearing on the list of networks. It comes back if I restart it, but then will disappear again after 10 or so minutes. I'm using windows 7, and a Belkin USB adapter. The problem appeared after doing a factory reset. While it is not broadcasting, there is a green light still on on the front of the airport, and I can see other wireless networks.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIm having a problem with my laptops wireless capability; it worked fine, until i tried a hardwried connection (i went over to this center and tried one and it didn't work, so i unplugged it).
Now, I can't connect to any wireless networks unless i do the windows network troubleshooter, which it tells me my laptops wireless capability is turned off; I then have to click on the option to turn wireless capability back on..
I have tried playing in change adapter settings in Network Connections, but nothing is working.. I have tried disabling the LAC and wireless adapter but nothing is working..
I also notice under Local Area Connection that is says "Network cable unplugged". Also in one of the tables of the windows network troubleshooter it shows Network cable unplugged and wireless capability is turned off.. Is my laptop trying to find the hardwire connection all the time so it turns off wireless?
My daughter is going to Uni and has wired ethernet access in her room but no wireless. View 2 Replies View RelatedThe wifi/bluetooth on my Dell XPS M1530 with an Intel 4965AGN wifi adapter erratically blinks off and on, flashing the status on the screen. This began happening about a year ago, but eventually stopped doing it. Now it's begun again. Flashing on and off is intermittent, but it's been happening more and more frequently--5-10 times/hr now. Sometimes it just flashes on and off once, sometimes, more rarely, 10-15 times.
This happens in Vista, Vista safe mode, as well as Ubuntu run from a USB key. That leads me to believe that it's a problem with the hardware. If I turn the wifi switch on the side of the computer off, it does shut the wifi off; turning the switch back on turns wifi on, but sometimes as soon as it's on, the wifi/bluetooth will start blinking on and off on screen. I have tried taking the adapter out and putting it back in a couple times. This didn't seem to change anything.
we took one of our controllers and turned LAG on and since then it is unreachable on the WCS. The controller is running version 7.0.116.0 and the WCS is running 7.0.172.0. I can access teh WLC no problem through web interface and CLI, as I can also do this with the WCS as well, but the WCS cannot access the WLC.From CLI i can ping the WCS from the Controller and get a response, but from CLI on the WCS, I cannot ping the controller.
View 5 Replies View Relatedwe have a new ACS 5.2 server, and are having a problem with the case sensitivity of ACS. Basically, what is happening is that some users are capitalizing the first letter of their AD username, and it's causing ACS to deny their access due to the case of their username. For example:
Username yyy0h22 grants admin access to a device. However, Username Yyy0h22 denies access to a device.
Is there a way to make it so that no matter uppercase or lowercase, we are giving this person access? Without having to make a different rule for each permutation?
My girlfriend's computer has quite suddenly developed the problem that the wireless card simply will not turn on.She has an Asus Notebook G60 Vx Series, which has a switch on the front as well as Fn+F2 for turning wireless on/off. Yesterday, she noticed it wasn't working even though the switch was "on", but was able to use Fn+F2 to enable it. Today, neither will work. It simply won't turn on.Ethernet works fine when connected directly to the router. Device manager detects "Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN" as working correctly and drivers as up-to-date.I feel like this must be a software/driver problem, but everything seems to be checking out. [code]
