Jul 19, 2011I have a number of web sites that are currently being load balanced by CSS 11503s runninng 8x code. I was recently requested to configure HTTP --> HTTPS redirects on the CSS for every site. In the past, I have only configured the redirects for sites that had a requirement. Now it appears that the server teams want all content encrypted.
1) What impact will this have on the CPU?
2) What impact will this have on Memory utilization?
3) Is there a maximum nubmer on redirects?
4) Are there other things I should be concerned about?

Jun 24, 2012how to configure a router 2900 to support connection from 2 firewall ( Active Standby connections) How can i said the router to send the traffic to the stand by when it go down the active Firewall?I was planning to use a Switch ( layer 2 capacity only) in the middle of the equipments ( between the firewalls and the router) in order to send always the traffic for 1 physical interface from the router side , and manage to route all the internatl traffic to the virtual IP of both Firewalls.Also i dont know yet how to configure a VPN site to site if i have that scheme and some Publics NAT ( Firewall - Switch - Router ), i was planning to configure a NAT in the Router in order to allow the VPN traffic to internal IP of the Firewall but still dont know if it will work.

Nov 14, 2011My problem is, it doesn’t seem like packets are making it to the linux/squid caching device, based on cache logs. Workstations that are being redirected in the router have no web browser access (they can ping 8.8.8.8 and google.com)
I have a linux box running squid successfully, which supports GRE WCCP. For the sake of argument, I will say that I am confident I have successfully configured that machine.
What’s really strange is this morning I came in and hind sight my test workstation looked like it may had restarted from an update. (maybe had internet access). The first thing I did was tweak the cisco config, as I was reading last night and saw:
“Be warned that if you are using NAT you MUST use the inbound interface otherwise the router only sees the NATted IP address as the source of your clients. This is bad, because the router is also therefore unable to see your cache engine and it will redirect the cache engine requests back upon itself.”
So I turned <ip cef> on and removed the <ip wccp web-cache redirect out> (I had in fa0/1 and out fa0/0 on overnight).
Then I proceeded to check the workstation and saw it had network access, I tested to see if it was in fact filtered by the proxy, and it was! (verified by cache logs aswell)
After some further successful testing, I made sure I saved any unsaved configuration changes, I rebooted the linux box and the router. Sadly the outcome was not good, I am back to where I was last night.
My router does routing/NAT and has two interfaces and is currently not running CEF

Mar 10, 2011What the support for WCCP on a FWSM running 4.0(7) is like, if there is any at all ?
I've read that the earliest PIX release that supports WCCP was 7.2(1) but I'm not sure how FWSM 4.0(7) aligns with the PIX versions.The only doc's i can find refrencing WCCP on a 6500 with FWSM is in the 6500 12.2 IOS guide.

Jun 29, 2011Currently using WCCP with squid for content filtering. One of our sites we connect to needs to see the connection coming from our public IP address, not the proxy server IP. I've created a acl in squid for direct lookup, but the website gets angry with the X-Forwarder-Header squid attaches to each packet. Is there a way in a cisco ASA 5505 to bypass wccp for a specific public ip address or url?

seems like the priority value would come into play determining which service group gets handled first?
we currently do WCCP for WaaS on our 3945s.
I am going to advocate to my customer that we separate this out for CPU load issues, config complexity issues, IOS issues, etc... but the question is going to come up - "can we do WCCP for different applications on our Catalyst 3750 core switch, or our 3945 WAN routers?"

We got the router about 5 months ago and it has been good, few losses of connection and you have to reboot which is understandable. The internet is always random so if the router needs reset/reboot its no problem.
However about a month or so ago its started redirecting constantly once you put a website in the address bar. Its not always the same sites either. Sometimes its google for part of the day, some times the site wont work for a week. It redirects me all the time to the D-Link Router Log In, and no matter how i try to access the website im trying to go to, it redirects me to the D-Link.

I use Google Chrome, and maybe 30-40% of the time when I try to go on the websites, Chrome gives me a warning that it is being redirected to a phishing site. I have tried this with other browsers too to the same effect. My router is secure. I have installed it in different locations as well (once in residence, once at home, to the same effect).

Oct 15, 2012I haven't run into this before and I can't find anything in the documentation regarding it. (Our 2 4710 were setup prior in a routed configuration although I personally see no reason for it.) Regardless, we have 2 servers that host 4 websites on them. We built everything on the ACE with a new VIP and matching the http header. If we use firefox/chrome, it load balances properly and we are prompted for credentials as those browsers don't support single sign on. We enter our credentials and are able to get to the appropriate website on the server. When we use IE, it fails to open the page. A sniffer capture shows an authentication failure packet and a reset and that's it. We built the ACE both as sticky and non-sticky but neither worked properly with IE.
Is there something else in the ACE we need to configure to get SSO to work?

My question is what generates a IP Redirect packet or how does the switch know what to change the gateway to? As in my case the changed gateway was a dead IP address. So I am at lose how this happened. I this case the Host IP's are network management servers conducting polling.
