Aug 10, 2011I was configuring a new unit straight out of the box to test a configuration for a client. I got most of of the configuration done and was noticing the menus were quirky and so I check to firmware and discovered it was 1.1.16 (* down level).
I finished my setup and rebooted to complete the changes, when I went back to log into the console it would Actively refuses to connect . the first time after powering on it shows the page title as setup before failing
I have tried a hard reset ( 15 Seconds reset) but it does not work . it doesn't even reset the settings. (static IP etc still there)
how can I get it fixed / exchanged under warranty

Jan 27, 2013I have an early model PIX-515 that hasn't been used in a long time but I want to get it working again in a lab environment. I am at loss right now on how to get into it though.
CONSOLE:
I've tried connecting from the PC's serial port to the units console port using Cisco's blue cable with no avail. All I get is a cursor but no response. I've tried using 9600,8,none,1,none as settings and I can sucessfully console a Cisco 1700 router with those same settings in Putty no problem, but it doesn't work with this Pix. I've also tried using other possible common speeds like 1200,1400,4800,19200, 38400, 57600 and 115200 in case the firewall was set to use those and that didn't work either.

Sep 4, 2011Our main ASA5510 is set up to failover to a second 5510, and is using the management port for that purpose. All of the other LAN ports are in use.
Currently we can manage the ASA using ASDM5.2 from and device on the LAN.
We are now going through PCI Compliance, and one of the vunerability scans has picked up the fact that the firewall appears to accept connections on SSL v2. However, if I try to set SSL to use v3 or TLS v1 only (as we don't use webVPN), I get a message that I will no longer be able to use ASDM to manage the firewall as changing to SSL v3 will 'prevent ASDM from establishing a secure connection with the ASA'
So does this mean that the ASA does use / accept SSL v2? The help files say that it will accept 'hellos' in v2 but will then try to negotiate to SSLv3 or TLS v1. It doesn't give more details about what happens next, but I would have assumed that if it can't negotiate to one of the later protocols it will drop the connection - is this correct? If that's the case I may be able to get PCI to accept it.
However, if this is not acceptiable and I have to switch to SSL v3, what options do I now have of administering the ASA through a GUI?

Feb 21, 2013I have Cisco5510 running with ADSM 6.0 version, I was able to access it fine since few months but suddenly I am unable to login through that.Its prompting for username and password and loading it to 100% but not opening the GUI console.I feel this could be the JAVA version issue but with the same version of JAVA I am able run another ASA 5520 which is running with 6.4ASDM version.Request you to suggest the right JAVA version to run 5510 with ASDM 6.0 GUI console.

May 3, 2013After pulling a brand new ASA5515 out of the box this morning, I spent countless hours scratching my head wondering why:
1. I cannot establish an HTTPS connection to the Management port - https://192.168.1.1/admin
2. When connecting via the console port I get prompted with a username and password sequence that I don't know
I get an SSL Version Error message when I try to connect with any browser. although I did find a way to resolve it, it requires a console port connection which is not working either.This is not my typical experience with the console or ASDM port setup.

Nov 15, 2011I'm installing a new platform LMS 4.0.1 under VMWare and Windows 2008 R2.
I installed via Windows 2008 R2 Patch without problem in LMS 4.0, then updated in LMS 4.0.1.
I'm facing several issues during this installation.
The first issue I have is the following:
When I launched topology services, java jre file jre-6u22-windows-i586-p_withjacorb.exe was downloaded and I saved it on disk.
I clicked on file to install it and get the following message during the installation:
Error 1330.A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file C:UserslmsAppDataLocalLowSunJavajre1.6.0_22Data1.cab has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt.
It tried to install certificate without success. I have internet access to java.com but it seems publisher is not trusted.

Cisco VPN :: 5505 Java Error During AnyConnect Install
Feb 24, 2012Just installed an ASA 5505 with AnyConnect Essentials. AnyConnect installation works fine on some windows boxes (All flavors) but have a couple machines with issues. This makes it clearly a computer side issue. When I try to log into the ASA to download the client with IE 9 the ASA just keeps asking for my logon credentials. If I I use Firefox my credentials work and I get as far as the "Using Sun java for installation" with instructions to click yes on the java security warning. The Java Security warning never arrives like on machines that don't have this problem. Firefox just hangs and has to be killed by task maanger. Remove and reinstall of both Java and Firefox fail to correct the problem. Any AnyConnect clientside recovery tips beyond Java and Browser reinstall?
A Google search show a few folks using Ubuntu and old PPC Macs seeing the same java error I get on these couple of windows boxen. [code]

Oct 16, 2012So (foolishly) I let the software updater delete Java 6 (which only Apple provides), and I installed Java 7 from java.com. Was running ASDM 6.4.9, all I got was the Java 7 splash box. Updated ASDM to 6.4.9-103, same problem.
I can run ASDM in one of my VM's, but it's a pain.
Slave Router - Can't Get Into Menu
Jan 25, 2011I have a two routers running from one connection first the master which is a Dlink dg500 - i think all is fine there. Secondly I have a slave router running all the wired/wireless things in the kids rooms its a netgear and when i say 'slave' I figured out if you put the input from the first router into port1 instead of input it works as a slave.
Problem is I need to get into the router menu on the netgear, it was ip add 192.168.1.1 then when i slaved it it was 10.0.0.1 - (I think) but I have tried recentley to get onto it and can't for the life of me. I have tried wirelessly and through ethernet cable but can't get the menu.

I need to setup a particular bookmark for a RDP session which forces the use of the java client for those who can't seem to get the ActiveX control working for some reason or another (virus scanners/firewalls/scerutiy policies etc).
I created a bookmark as follows, but it always tries to connect with the ActiveX control first when logging on from an IE client.
