Cisco Firewall :: Multiple Static Port Translations On ASA5505

Aug 15, 2011

I am at a loss on configuring a new ASA5505 for multiple static port translations.I would have expected to simply add several service command to a network object to complete the task, however, the service command overrides the previous and replaces rather than adds to the translations. [code] However, if entered in that order the 8443 overwrites the 8080 static translation. What is the correct procedure to establish multiple translations? If someone could also provide the "old" style for pre 8.2 release, I'd like to compare because I thought I used to do this with an access-list somewhere.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA5505 With Multiple WAN IPs?

We are trying to utilize a 5 ip block of addresses provided by our ISP. What we have assigned from them is like this: 10.10.10.46 - 10.10.10.50 is our ip range. 10.10.10.45 is the gateway. Subnet is 255.255.255.248. If we assign 10.10.10.46 to the outside interface how do we accept inbound traffic from the other addresses?

Cisco Firewall :: ASA5505 Multiple Public IP NAT

Mar 9, 2013

I have three public IP:s from /24 network like 83.x.x.10, 83.x.x.25 and 83.x.x.41 all using netmask 255.255.255.0.

I'm using 83.x.x.10 on ASA outside interface and trying to do static nat for inside servers with those other IP:s, but not yet solved it.

Using Cisco ASA 5505 software v9.02

Config:
object network obj_guest
nat (guest,outside) dynamic interface
object network obj_any
nat (inside,outside) dynamic interface
object network w2008
host 192.168.1.10

[code]....

This works other networks that are like whole network with /29 mask and have router in front of ASA using bridge. But in my case i just have DSL modem bridged in front of ASA. This static nat works like should if i use like Zywall USG series fw and this same configuration works in my customers, but they have those scenarios i said having mask /29 and router in front...

It seems that the problem is in ASA, like i won't show those public IP:s to public router from my operator. Because if i roll those other public IP:s on my ASA:s outside interface: i will use 83.x.x.25 and 83.x.x.41 on outside interface and after that put back my original 83.x.x.10 then my static nat is working just fine, atleast few hours, but not in next morning because ISP router flushes ARP cache.

LAN servers can be separated into discrete networks for security. For example, a private LAN for internal traffic accessed only via remote dial-in VPN sessions and Want to Configure DMZ for Server (S-4, S-5, S-6) that allows public web traffic.

Cisco Firewall :: Multiple Static NATs With ASA 8.4.X Code

Mar 12, 2012

We have a need for an inside address to have more than one static NAT outside addresses.  I know this wasn't possible before 8.3.X code.  I still can't quite get it to work with 8.4.X code yet.

Here is what I had with 8.2 code.

static (inside,outside) 10.21.197.0 10.17.197.0 netmask 255.255.255.0

our inside network is 10.17.197.X/24.  the current NAT we have in place is 10.21.197.X/24.

we need to add an additional NAT of 10.22.197.X/24 and I also have networks that will need to hit the address with no NAT.

I do know the source networks where I need each of the three cases:

from 172.20.X.X I need to hit the inside of 10.17.197.X natively, no NAT.
from 192.168.X.X i need to hit the inside of 10.17.197.X with 10.21.197.X NAT
from 10.10.X.X I need to hit the inside of 10.17.197.X with 10.22.197.X NAT

Cisco Firewall :: Migrate Multiple Static NAT From ASA 7.x To IOS Router?

Feb 24, 2012

I need to replace an ASA with an IOS firewall router, and am not sure how to migrate the NAT configuration.  Specifically, there is an interface "3rdparty" that has onward connectivity to other private addresses, so our internal addressing is hidden.  For some reason there are static NAT rules in different directions across the interface, but at present I cannot see why.  Thinking in router terms, all that springs to mind is the inside and outside tags for the interfaces, but also that it might need "overlapping" NAT to be configured.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA5505 - Outbound Traffic Ceases Even Though Port Is Up

Mar 10, 2011

I've had a Cisco ASA 5505 firewall connected to a cable modem (Virgin Media, UK) for the past 3 years.  In the last 6 months or so I have noticed that the ASA would drop the outside (internet) connection intermittently, usually at least once every 1-2 weeks - the interface still shows as being up but no traffic crosses it, and computers on the inside network abruptly lose internet connectivity.  Rebooting the ASA or administratively shutting down the interface and bringing it back up again would cure the problem straight away until the next time it happens.

In the last couple of days however despite nothing having been changed in the configuration the frequency of this connection drop has increased to the point where I would lose access to the internet within an hour of rebooting the ASA.  It does not seem to matter whether or not there is traffic currently going out or not, inside computers just appear to suddenly lose internet connectivity.

I have tried the following without success:

1) I completely wiped the configuration (configure factory-default)

2) I changed the port the cable modem was connected to (eth0/0 -> eth0/7, changing switchport vlan accordingly)

I thought perhaps 2) had fixed it but it lasted a whole 2 hours before I woke up this morning to find that none of the internal equipment had internet access despite the fact eth0/7 was showing as up/up in ASA CLI.

This morning I manually set the eth0/7 port to "speed 10" (10Mbps, full duplex).  It was previously set to be auto-negotiation (default) on both speed and duplex.  As of this post it has managed to keep the outside connection up for 3 hours - but I'm not optimistic that it is fixed.

Interface counters have never shown any collisions, errors, etc - only packets input and output as expected.

Since the problem persisted across ports (eth0/0 -> eth0/7) I'm wondering whether or not the problem could either be faulty memory, or some kind of speed/duplex incompatibility between the cable modem and ASA.

Just remember when you attempt to use ASDM to manage the ASA in the future to specify the new port 8080.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 - Setup Single Port Exclusion For Static NAT?

Sep 20, 2012

I have been using static NAT to map between a single server behind an ASA 5505 and a single public IP address. In other words, I've been doing this:

object network NAT_ME
nat (inside,outside) static interface

Now I would like to start using the clientless VPN feature of the ASA, so I of course don't want that particular port forwarded to the server. Is there a way to define such an exclusion? I've tried several things, including setting up a separate NAT rule to direct that port back to the ASA's interface, without luck.

If that is not possible, what configuration would I need to move to in order to get the behavior that I want? It is important that all (non-VPN) traffic is passed exactly as it arrives at the firewall (whether it is coming from internal or external), with the exception of changing the IP address (i.e., I need static port mappings for some of my services).

Cisco Firewall :: NAT - Multiple Ports Translated To Single Port - ASA 8.4

May 21, 2013

We are migrating from a nother brand to an ASA Cluster running 8.4.5

We have a web-server on an inside interface listening on a non standard port - 20111. We have created a static NAT translating the public ip to the private, so If I do http://public-ip:20111 it works. (we are using a seperate public IP for this service only).

Now I need to create a NAT rule that will forward requests on BOTH port 80 and 443 to the same private ip and the same port number (20111)

The Private address is 10.99.250.20 and the "public" (I've replaced it in this example) is 172.16.16.16 I have managed to create a NAT that will translate 443 to 20111:

object network 10.99.250.20 nat (Private-DMZ,Outside) static 172.16.16.16 service tcp 20111 https

But if I try to add another rule like:  nat (Private-DMZ,Outside) static 172.16.16.16 service tcp 20111 http It will simply replace the first one.

Is it possible to redirect both 80 and 443 from outside to the same port number and same IP on the inside?

Cisco VPN :: ASA5505 Static L2L Tunnel - Won't Come Up

We have a HUB ASA5505 SEC+ with a few other ASA's connected to it via L2L VPN. We have 1 active Static L2L, 1 Active Dynamic L2L, and I'm currently trying to add a Second Static L2L Tunnel.I verified that each WAN Interface can ping each other, and both devices have full internet connectivity. There is no double nat or content filtering going on either. I did notice that my Cisco Remote Access VPN Client won't connect properly through the ASA despite full internet connectivity, but when I connect directly to the modem I was able to connect properly. So apparently the ISP isn't blocking IPSEC traffic AFAIK.

Static2 is currently using a Temporary TAC License since our license is currently awaiting arrival, but a show version output shows that all VPN/3des features are enabled. [code]

Cisco VPN :: ASA5505 - Static Route To L2L Tunnel

Got an ASA5505 Sec+ with ip 10.45.10.1 on inside interface. Firmware 8.3(1). Got another Cisco router (From my ISP) with ip 10.45.10.254 - This one creates an L2L tunnel - To the 10.45.20.0/24 net.

On the 5505 ive got "route inside 10.45.20.0 255.255.255.0 10.45.10.254 1", and trafic is being directed to 10.45.10.254 as it should.

I know cause I can ping everything one the 10.45.20.0/24 net - But thats it... Cant RDP, connect to fileshare... Nothing.

When i test a PC and set it to gateway 10.45.10.254 I can access everything on the remote network. Do I need some NAT command or an access-list? I've setup AnyConnect VPN on the ASA and I can connect to both networks without any problems.

Cisco VPN :: ASA5505 And Spoke VPN Between Multiple Sites

Aug 12, 2012

I currently have a "hub" ASA 5505 that links to 4 sites running 877 routers. From the hub network i can connect to all sites fine but what i would like to do is to almost compartmentalise the various VPN links into little clusters. The hub ASA 5505 basically provides IP telephony through the VPN's from a PBX allowing the users at the other end of the VPN to make outgoing calls and recieve incoming calls. However, a couple of the sites would like to be able to call between eachother internally via the hub. This obviously requires traffic to be allowed between their various networks. Currently when you attempt an internal call it rings but there is no audio either way. I assume this is due to access list restrictions. I am not even sure whether what I am trying to achieve is possible. I've attached the hub and 2 spokes below. The ideal end result would be interconnectivity between the two spokes via the hub, from reading up it would seem that its possible but i can't quite get my head around it! Would it involve using different subnet masks at the hub?
