This is the second one of the new ASA 55.5X series appliances where I have seen this issue:When I SHOW VERSION, I can see the serial number displayed. However, this does not match the serial number from the sticker affixed to the outside of the chassis.This makes it confusing on opening TAC cases and for updating licenses.
View 8 RepliesI am trying to find the serial number on the CLI that matches the serial number sticker on the back of a WS-C2948G-GE-TX switch that runs CatOS. I am running code cat4000-k9.8-3-2-GLX.bin. I have 4 different switches and all the stickers have a serial that starts with JPE.. and both "show version" and "show sprom 1" and "show sprom 2" gives me a completely different serial number that starts wtih JAE... All of these serial numbers I get from the CLI match with each other. The command "show sprom chassis" says "Feature not supported."
Is it possible to find the serial number that matches the sticker from the CLI on a 2948G? Why does Cisco make this so confusing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a faulty ASA5520 and I am not sure if I have a SMART net contract for it or not (I manage over 200+ ASAs). The problem is that the Serial Number sticker that is normally on the back of the ASA is missing. The ASA5520 is also faulty and doesn't power on so I cannot boot it up and run 'show ver' or similar. If I open the chassis there appears to be other Serial numbers on the Power Supply, and Motherboard etc but they do not seem to be the correct Chassis serial number i.e not in the right format, and if I put them into the Trade tool I get no results.
There must be another record of the serial numbers besides 1x sticker to the rear of the chassis that can fall off? How I can get the chassis serial when the device isn't booting. or (Cisco) is there a way to find the chassis serial number from the power or motherboard serial?
Showing Your firewall has a version number null which is not supported by ASDM 6.2(5). I received this error when trying to run asdm on my asa 5505. I upgraded image and asdm trying different versions. I used many different versions of java all to no avail.

I was told it can be traced using the serial number this is not going to work as the serial number is not digital is this correct? That looks like an EARLIER firmware version to me judging by the firmware version yet it is dated later. **bleep**. If you want, I can upload a photo of my router's model no. for all to see.My question is, am I safe to 'upgrade' to this 'earlier but dated later' firmware version or not? Why is mine showing as having a later version.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am doing some per-deployment testing with a ASA5585X and noticed that when I feed it a stream of SYN packets on the outside interface the measured traffic rate on the inside interface going out is about 10x the rate of the outside interface going in.
laptop --- ASA --- PC
I send 6k TCP SYN pkt at interface rate from the laptop targeted at PC. No packets are dropped by Ac Ls or policies and can be sniffed at the PC.
Show interface commands show:

1 minute input rate 23 pkt/sec, 1303 bytes/sec
1 minute output rate 4454 pkt/sec, 820757 bytes/sec

Traffic Statistics for "outside":

1 minute input rate 885 pkt/sec, 70847 bytes/sec
1 minute output rate 7 pkt/sec, 425 bytes/sec
I would expect that if 885 pkt/sec enter the firewall on the outside interface the same amount or less would exit it on the inside...? Why this is not the case? The packet rate is about 5x and the data rate is about 10x greater.
