I'm based in the UK and am using a DIR-655 router but I have no record of its serial number (there is no sticker on the item, and the original box is now missing) - is there any way I can ascertain which version of the router I have? As I understand matters, I need to know this so that I can apply the correct firmware upgrade, which is what I wish to do.

I was told it can be traced using the serial number this is not going to work as the serial number is not digital is this correct? View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a faulty ASA5520 and I am not sure if I have a SMART net contract for it or not (I manage over 200+ ASAs). The problem is that the Serial Number sticker that is normally on the back of the ASA is missing. The ASA5520 is also faulty and doesn't power on so I cannot boot it up and run 'show ver' or similar. If I open the chassis there appears to be other Serial numbers on the Power Supply, and Motherboard etc but they do not seem to be the correct Chassis serial number i.e not in the right format, and if I put them into the Trade tool I get no results.
There must be another record of the serial numbers besides 1x sticker to the rear of the chassis that can fall off? How I can get the chassis serial when the device isn't booting. or (Cisco) is there a way to find the chassis serial number from the power or motherboard serial?
This is the second one of the new ASA 55.5X series appliances where I have seen this issue:When I SHOW VERSION, I can see the serial number displayed. However, this does not match the serial number from the sticker affixed to the outside of the chassis.This makes it confusing on opening TAC cases and for updating licenses.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find the serial number on the CLI that matches the serial number sticker on the back of a WS-C2948G-GE-TX switch that runs CatOS. I am running code cat4000-k9.8-3-2-GLX.bin. I have 4 different switches and all the stickers have a serial that starts with JPE.. and both "show version" and "show sprom 1" and "show sprom 2" gives me a completely different serial number that starts wtih JAE... All of these serial numbers I get from the CLI match with each other. The command "show sprom chassis" says "Feature not supported."
Is it possible to find the serial number that matches the sticker from the CLI on a 2948G? Why does Cisco make this so confusing?

Any good way to force a serial link to delay packets to simulate a hi latency WAN link? Found this command so far:

I can dial the speed up/down via clock rate all good but I need to also simulate latency. This is for simulating a WAN bonding scenario so I was going to aggregate a 10M ethernet port with a 2M serial and a 512k serial. But I need to also ensure varying latency.

I am trying to set up port forwarding on this router but it seems I need to use virtual servers but in all the guides there is a menu for this under the advance settings nat menu.I do not have that option, I have downloaded the latest firmware but still nothing.

Everything seems to work fine except that there is no Wireless option in the menu. I updated the firmware and reset to factory defaults, but the wireless option still does not appear in the menu.
I've been trying to connect two DCS-942L to some netgear WNHD3004 (wireless access points a/n WPA2 personal) that I use as access point but I can't find them in the site survey (advanced settings then wireless setup in the camera page).I think I could set manually the network name, security mode and key but since I'm working remotly on these camera, I'm pretty sure it won't work and I'll loose connection (actually they are connected to other access points and work ok).An ipad and macbook pro is able to see and connect to these access points so I don't think they are the problem.I've updated the camera to the latest firmware (1.12 build 1608 agent version : 2.0.15-b11)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had a DIR-655 for years, and this is a treat - channeling everything from IPTV, to a fast fiber connection, transfers - no sweats.
Then I had to setup a router for a friend, and recommended the DIR-615.
Setup the router, and max it would connect with was 150mb - I changed the settings accordingly: auto channel scan channel width: auto 20/40mhz
So this "opened" up the 300mb speed - however only for 5 mins, then it falls down to 150mb.
My laptop (lenovo) connects to the dir-655 just fine at full speed, and this is also the machine I used for testing the dir-615.
It's ax Hx firmware, FW: 8.04
What I can conclude by using inssider, and xirrus wifi inspector is that it generates 2 channels - and then after 5mins of connectivity looses a channel, and then the speed drops.
I got a new router from the dealer, same issue. Then a friend of mine lent me an ancient dir-615, and interestingly enough this had the same configuration option of "Transmission rate" in the wireless settings page! Just like the dir-655. and also connects at 300mb...

I am writing in from Cuenca, Ecuador. I have a TD-W8901G Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router. I have accessed the interface using the default ip address:192.168.1.1.When I select Interface Setup from the menu, it only shows Internet and LAN as the only 2 options. Wireless is no longer there. It just disappeared! The LED indicator light for WLAN is also "OFF." When you try the Quick Start wizard guide, it cannot complete the setup because there is an IP address error.
I have changed the firmware 2x since, trying to remedy this, I have also tried factory resets at least 3x. Nothing has worked up to this point.
I keep getting disconnected from the game "Vindictus". I'm not sure what protocols it uses, but it shouldn't require any configuration on the Router, since it was working fine before. I upgraded the firmware to 4.13 in an attempt to fix the issue, but it didn't work. Some people have suggested "Endpoint filtering" to be set to independent, but I cannot find such an option. Where is the option? I was told it was on the Firewall page, but it is not there (Advanced->Firewall/DMZ). The router is supplied by Virgin Media (ISP) but I'm not sure if that matters.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just purchased two DCS-930L cameras. They are both installed and running fine over wireless. I can view them via a web browser, however, I cannot get D-ViewCam to work. I installed the latest version (3.1.1). As soon as I launch the Main Console it crashes and I get the "Missing or Corrupted Files error code 268435457". I saw the other post in terms of change the display settings on my PC to 1280X768, however, that does not work. I also have User Account Control (UAC) turned off.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor our children, we use the parental control feature of the DIR-615 (RevD, FW4.11b15), which works excellently. I use the whitelist feature, so only trusted web sites can be accessed. Unfortunately the DIR-615 only has 10 entries in that list and I will soon need more. So I wonder if there is another D-Link router that offers a bigger list with maybe 50 or even 100 entries?
