I have an ASA 5550 appliance that I am upgrading the code on. It is not being used for anything crazy advanced. It is simply an IPSEC tunnel and router. My main concern is stability, so obviously I would not be using a latest release. I want something that's tried and true. I am currently using asa831-k8.bin
View 16 RepliesWe have several 877 routers across a few cities and experience infrequent 'drop-out's which are typically characterised by log entries like the example below.
Our biggest problem is that there is a 60-90 second hard-down period rather than just a 1-2 second 'blip' ... and TCP etc. don't cope well with an outage of this duration.
In general the SnR etc. on the links is good and these occurances are quite rare but when they happen it can be very alarming for users and transactions can fail.
configuration (prefereable acheivable at the CPE rather than the DSLAM end) to work:
1. reduce the outage duration... can the interface be instructed to be less sensitive to temporary line noise and just 'suck it up' rather than resynching?
2. improve the stability of the line... perhaps at the cost of a reduced speed?
3. improve logging of the root cause of the interface going 'down'?

I’m testing a 1841 with 2 WIC-1ADSL cards, but the connections are dropping every 30-50mins. If I swap the cars out for HWIC-1ADSL’s then the lines are stable. I’ve had the profiles on the lines dropped the 4mb down and 512k up but I’m still getting the same issue.
I’ve tried a few 1841’s with various IOS’s and different WIC’s but still get the same result.
I have version A3 hardware with the latest firmware installed. When i use wireless N, after transferring a large file from my PC to my NAS over wireless, the router slows to a crawl once the file is done. The next file i try to transfer moves at about 200-300kB/s as opposed the the previous 8+MB/s. Watching nextflix and gaming is also slow. After i unplug and plug back in the router, everything is fine. It doesn't do it everytime, but does happen often enough to be frustrating.
After experimenting with different wireless N settings, and trust me i've tried like every combination. I set the router to wireless G only, the transfer speeds are about 2-3MB/s but it always has that speed. It's been stable for well over a month now. But i bought an N router, and want faster speeds. What's the warranty period for this router?

View 3 Replies View Relatedmy old D-link DGL-4300 was rock steady showing 54 Mbps constant speed (link rate) (in Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit Wireless Network Connection Status window). The new E4200 jumps around from 72 Mbps to 114 Mbps to 130 Mbps to 144 Mbps. However, it mainly stays at 72 Mbps. I have seen 150 Mbps briefly but I have never seen 300 Mbps. I have even placed my laptop within 2 -3 ft of the router and have a strong signal (4 bars) but I still have the same link rate issue. I would think that Windows would show 300 Mbps link rate for my connection when it is that close to the router. My laptop is a Toshiba with an integrated Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN wireless adapter. My son also has a Toshiba laptop with the same wireless adapter but he gets lower speeds than mine due to the fact that he is 50' away in another room in the house. His connection also jumps around but it is at lower link rates than mine.

I was under the impression that an FXO card didn't have any clue about inside/outside etc, all it knew was that it was getting a signal to ring.
My pc isn't picking up any wireless connections even if they have no pass on them. I don't know what the cause is I trouble shooted my wireless network connection driver 3 times I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and nothing happened. Updated it too. I even tried doing a roll back but still nothing. And when I checked the driver it says device working properly. I have a Toshiba satellite, windows xp.

I keep getting DHCP "Timeout's" and " Configuring IP" . The ould 7921's and the new 7925's work just fine. I have tried removing and reconfiguring the WLAN and Interface on the Controllers. I even removed and reconfigured the DHCP scope in Infoblox.
I have two internet connections coming to my server, both have an internet connection on them BUT i want to choose my default internet source from these two connections. So how do i achieve this on Server 2008 r2.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIv been having a wierd time with my computer connecting to the internet lately. What we have is a setup of 2 routers:
1st - has my mums computer plugged into it and an xbox 360, and gets access to the internet through a modem.
2nd - is plugged into the first router, and it has my computer and my brothers connected.
Lately the 2nd router can't seem to pick up any internet connection and I'm not sure why. Usually the only way to fix this problem has usually been to reboot the modem and the 1st router, but since my mum often uses her computer its kind of awkward for me to keep rebooting it when she's using the internet just fine. As far as I'm aware the settings on both routers are still at their default values when we originally got them, so why I'm being disconnected 50% of the time is a bit of a nuisance.
I have an older Dell Desktop (Dimension E310) with Windows XP. I haven't turned it on in a year or so. Last time I used it I had a PCI Adapter for wireless and it worked fine.
Since then we've moved and are relying on a wireless router and I'm now trying to reconnect it, but it no longer has the little wireless icon. It has the Intel PROset for wired connections (from when I first bought it), and I ran the diagnostic on it, and everything passed except for the "link test." What do I do now?

There is currently only one other laptop connect to this router and yet it will not let me connect to it. I have matched all the setting from the current laptop to the one i am trying to connect however it still will not even pick up a signal. View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had a D-Link DGL-4300 for the past four years now (at least) and in the past month, the WiFi signal it sends out just isn't 'good'. What I mean is, the first time this happened in November, one day all the WiFi enabled devices in my home were connecting just fine. Then quite literally the next day, each device detected a signal in the area, yet they simply couldn't connect. I've refreshed each device (iPhone, laptops, consoles) yet they cannot actually connect to the network even though they pick up the signal.
At first I reset the router and that seemed to work, but only for a day or two before the problem started up again. So then I upgraded to the last (and latest) firmware D-Link has on their site and it looked like the problem was solved for good. But unfortunately, this has started again in the last couple of days. D-Link doesn't provide any tech support for my router because it was discontinued in 2009 so I'm stuck.
Recently got satellite high speed. Am trying to hook up the wireless router my son gave me. Installed and set up but my PC doesn't recognize it and my phone won't pick it up.

It will either not find the signal, or not connect to it unless I have my laptop wired with an ethernet cable. My network adapter is a Broadcom 802.11n. I have a Netgear RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router (WNDR3000). It works great in the house. What I would like to do is to be able to use my computer out by my pool. The furthest I can go with my laptop is sitting in a chair right outside my door step. If I walk away from the house, no cigar. Is there a way to extend my internet reception beyond my doorstop?
