View 1 RepliesHow can I give endpoints public IPs, that I can remote to or access (electronic whiteboard) from the Internet using a soho router? Will I need to purchase more than one public IPs or is there something I can do with subnet masking?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Setup / I've been lurking on here a while, working hard to understand the basic networking concepts and eventually pursue the CISCO certs. I bought a lab and have since managed to setup a four router config (2610XM-DTE, 2621-DTE, 2501-DCE, and a linksys E1000 with routing, DHCP, and NAT turned off to make it a wirelss access point) with three switches (2@2950 and a 2924XL).
So far, I have managed to bring in my public IP using DHCP, and setup PAT. The network is fully functional, I can ping every interface, and reach the web on host PCs from any switchport. I am also able to telnet into the FastEthernet interface IPd with my public address.
My Issue : My concern right now is in feature support. I recently read on here that CISCO does not support UPnP, and due to my limited resources, I am using the only public IP I have to allow remote testing/learning on my lab. The issue is that I also have a PS3 and XBox 360 on this network that is requiring UPnP for certain online games and features.
The only solution I can see to this problem is to return my public IP back to the E1000 router, which is running RIP Version 2 (white papers said version 1, but a debup ip rip showed that updates were being ignored due to illegal version), and then poing my other three routers to it for outside access.
The questions I have in this scenario:
1. Will NAT still function if I use the E1000 and set the interfaces connecting to it as ip nat inside? I'm assuming that PAT is already hardcoded onto the router to allow for multiple connections to public IP space.
2. If my IP is 68.X.X.X, I set the E1000 to an IP of 192.168.1.1 and the FastEthernet it connects to is on my 2621 with an IP of 192.168.1.2, would it be possible to telnet into 192.168.1.2? If I were to forward port 23 out of the E1000 to the 192.168.1.2 address. Will my login and password for line vty 0 4 understand the request if the original telnet was to my public IP?
3. If all of that is just non-sense, is there another work-around that allows me to acheive UPnP through my E1000, while retaining telnet ability to my lab so I can try things in different scenarios or while I'm away from home?

There's no need for any other particular functionality or feature set, the routers aren't doing anything fancy or unusual - it's the achieved throughput that's important.
I am relatively new to Cisco CLI and on the diagram that I am attaching I want the 2008 server to do DHCP for everything behind E0 on the Soho 91. I have tried multiple configs and I seem to get close but never quite get it. I am thinking that adding a DHCP helper on E0 will work but I am not sure.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThere are many software available for this but the issues is how they all function. Example: One software Synchronized FTP allows you to set a local/remote folder and sync files between them. What was never disclosed is that you need Windows Task Scheduler to run the synchronization, and you do not see a progress indicator. I also tried TurboFTP but it felt like landing a space shuttle.

We've previously been using "HP V-M200" access points, but we encoutered heavy throughput problems with these. During my tests of the network, I've seen these APs decrease their tranfer-rate to 30Mb, during file-transfer and ping-test. The issue here is concerning the transfer-rate from the Network Interface Card of my laptop to the wireless AP (did an iptraf while testing, and then noticed the 30Mb).

A client wants a separate [from their data] network dedicated to their new IP CCTV/IP Intercomm system (Stentofon ISO5 Cleanroom Certified). Total of 15 devices, all of which support PoE, 11 of which require it. The intercomm system will be the primary method of communication with personnel inside the clean space, so it must have minimum downtime.
1) 16x RJ45 (Only 15 devices -- anything over 16 ports is waste, SFP/expansion/combo ports not required)
2) *All* ports 802.3af PoE compliant, approx 5W load.
3) 10/100 (Gigabit not necessary, there's only 2 cameras and voice traffic is compressed)
4) Prefer rackmount but not necessary
5) Prefer Cisco/Cisco SB simply because I trust 'em (have an IAD and switch going strong for years with no downtime )
I've got a network setup (n only) with a bunch of devices wireless and wired. I've got in my PC an Asus PCE-N53 wifi card (comp isn't close enough to modem), and using it and speedtest.net I get speeds up to 40mbps (rarely, at average around 28-33mbps). When I test on a wired PC or on my brother's surface pro, I get from 60-80mbps. I can't for the life of me figure out what is wrong with the asus card. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, switching PCI slots, different system and it's still the same.

192.168.2.0 on R1 to E1000 which is RIPv2

The switch has a vlan ip on 192.168.1.128 /25?I can ping from R1 to E1000?I can ping from R3 to R1 192.168.2.75? I can't ping from R3 to E1000 192.168.2.1?show ip route on R2 indicates that network 192.168.2.0 is reachable via the serial connection on 192.168.1.12?I have redistributed rip to ospf area 100 and OSPF to RIP on R1?I am wondering why R1 can reach E1000 on network 192.168.2.0, and why R3 can reach R1s 192.168.2.0 newtork, but R3 can't reach the E1000.There is an R2 router than can reach R1 and also cannot reach E1000, but I assume it's for the same reasons R3 can't, so I've omitted the remainder of that topology for this question.
I am designing a dual local router ISP multihomed network and I need some recommendations on the edge routers and the distribution layer switches I should use in my design. Right now we have two 6509s as internet edge devices multihoming to two ISPs, with load sharing and failover (layer 2 and layer 3). I was thinking of using Cisco 7200 routers at the internet edge and Cisco 4500 series switches behind the router for layer 2 switching(ISP---7200 series ---4200 series). Current traffic pattern on my two 6509s is around 100Mbps on an average on each switch when they are load balancing.. and when one failovers to another it just doubles. So I need to make sure the devices I chose has enough throughput for my current requirements and future growth.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently obtained a 2851 and have been battling this issue for a week now. An odd set of circumstances happen with the bootstrap startup process. If the router has loss of power or when reloaded; it fails to read the CF card and boots to rommon. I can tftp an image to it (tftpdnld -r) and IOS CAN read the flash card along with any saved configuration. In fact once in IOS, I can wr mem and print the hardware details of the CF card. Once I reload the router it goes to rommon, fails to open the flash, then sits until i tftp the image back. When the router load IOS, it also loads the startup config.I don't think it's a problem with the CF card as IOS can read it. I've tried formatting the card from IOS and from my pc as FAT, FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS - it didn't make a different. I updated the ROMMON to allow for USB booting but haven't purchased a USB Drive yet for testing. The upgrade didn't resolve this issue either. It almost seems like a firmware problem with the EPROM.

The server is verified to be up and running and when we do a show debug ip nat, we see the router is translating outside users attempting to access the ftp server to it's correct internal IP address.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSuppose a broadcasted IP packet reaches one of the integrated RJ-45 ports on a 2911 ISR G2, will it be possible to configure the router so that the other integrated RJ-45 ports, ESM/EHWIC modules installed on the router, as well as the MGF also recieve the packet? Technically, the router should act similar to a switch with the SRE behaving similar to a seperate machine connected via the MGF and other external machine connected to the ports of the router to recieve the broadcasted packet.
Also, if SNMP traps were generated from the router,Will it be possible to send the traps from the router via the MGF to the SRE installed on the router?
I have the following network connected and configured to a single Cisco 1800 router.
VLAN 2 (10.1.20.0/24)
|
int vlan2, ip address 10.1.20.1
|
Cisco 1800 ----- int fa0, public ip address ---- Internet
|
int vlan3, ip address 10.1.30.1
|
VLAN 3 (10.1.30.0/24)
VLAN 2 is server vlan with a webserver.
VLAN 3 is clients.
NAT configuration:
VLAN 2 and VLAN 3 is using NAT to access the internet, and both is configured as inside interfaces.fa0 is configured as outside interface. Now I don't know if this is about NAT, but I've tried several things without luck.
Problem:
A client in VLAN 3 tries to access a domain on the webserver in VLAN 2.It starts by sending a DNS query to a DNS server located at the ISP, and gets the ip address for the domain, which is of course a public ip address. Then nothing happens because the client tries to access the domain on the webserver using the public ip address, and the webserver have a local ip address 10.1.20.20 which is on the local LAN (VLAN 2).
I've tried NAT because I have to change the destination ip address, but I can't seem to get it right.
Is there a way to be able to check from one computer on a network to another computer on the same network when both have been set up with NAT?
For example, computer 10.0.0.10 cannot ping 10.0.0.20 because NAT has been set up. Port forwarding does not seem to be an answer. Is it possible for NATted computers to be able to ping each other or not?
last month I bought in our China office a 2811c router.I asked (to a Chinese informatic company) a router to create a IPSEC - site to site VPN connection with an ASA.I'm not in China, and when they told me that router was power on, I tried to configure VPN.It was a bomb when I found that the image installed was "c2800nmc-spservicesk9-mz.150-1.M7.bin" not enough for my VPN, we need for example "c2800nmc-advipservicesk9-mz.150-1.M7.bin".Is it possible that in China this image is forbidden for VPN political restriction? - If I can, what's the Cisco procedure to change ios image? I must to buy an advanced license or I only register and download which image I need?
