Cisco Wireless :: 5508 / Office Extend AP Setup?

Jul 6, 2010

I have finally got my office extend AP to connect to my companies 5508 controller by enabling NAT on the management interface and can see all the cooperate SSID's. However when I try to connect to the SSID my client either gets a local IP address from my home router or then cannot get any IP address.

Cisco :: 5508 / 4402 - Office Extend Suggestion

Dec 15, 2011

I have attached a diagram of the current topology. At present, we have two 5508 connected to our core. We also have a 4402 behind the firewall (DMZ) just purely for guest access. So the staff users connect to the access point which in turns connects to the Staff WLC 1 (if this fails then to Staff WLC2). any guest user connect to the access point which in turn connects to Staff WLC which anchors to Guest WLC which then provides access. Since the guest is behind the DMZ they can only access the internet and not out internal network.

Now we want to office extend our network - we want our users to use 1132 AP at home to access the Infrastructure. is there a way we can do this without disturbing the existing infrastructure. On reading Cisco website, i know the best practice is to use 2 5508 (one behind the firewall and the other anchored to this access the internet network ) i thought since we have a Cisco (dmz) switch (48 port) and only the 4402  (Guest WLC) is connected to it, maybe purchase another 5508 WLC and connect to the 48 port Cisco (dmz) switch. will this work?

Cisco Wireless :: 5508 Office Extend Internal External?

Dec 18, 2011

I am having an issue with internal and external clients. When we have the nat ip configured on the controller we cannot connect internal ap's at all. When we take the nat ip out it works fine. We are on code 7.0.220. I have tried the following command  <config network ap-discovery nat-ip-only disable> and it did nothing.

Cisco Wireless :: 5508 - Multiple Office Extend APs Behind NAT To Single Address

Feb 29, 2012

I have a situation where a user needs more than one office extend AP in his home. My office extend controller is a 5508 running 7.0.220.0. Are there any issues NATing multiple OE APs to a single address? My initial lab results indicate that each of the AP's associate with the controller and establish a DTLS tunnel. I see the SSIDs get pushed to the AP and then it seems to restart the process never being fully operational. Is there a workaround that will allow me to run mutliple OE APs?

Cisco Wireless :: AP 1131 As Office Extend With Local Ssid?

Feb 15, 2012

I have an 1131ag AP attached to our 5508 as an OEAP over the Internet.  Everything with the corporate SSIDs is working correctly, so no issue there.  I was wondering if a local ssid can be configured on the AP, similar to what can be done with the OEAP600, in order to provide wireless access to the Internet only?  On the WLC, on the H_REAP tab, there is a button labeled "Reset Personal SSID"

Cisco Wireless :: Office Extend 1142 And Dtls Keepalive Failure

I am setting up office extend with 1142 APs on a 5508 controller.  All seems ok and I see my SSIDs on the remote AP.   However when I try to connect I don't get a dhcp address and the connection fails.  When I look at logs and some debugs I see dtls keepalive failures and the AP is actually disconnecting and re-associating with the controller.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Connect Two Routers To Extend Wireless Range?

May 15, 2011

I have two Dir-655's - router1 and router2.

Router1:
ip 192.168.0.1
subnet 255.255.255.0
DHCP enabled range = 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.200
Router 2:
ip 192.168.0.2
subnet 255.255.255.0
DHCP disabled

Routers are connected to each other via LAN ports with a switch in between. Both routers have the same wireless SSID with the same password. I am able to connect wirelessly to both routers no problem.

I have a machine running a shared iTunes library which has a wired connection to router1. I also have an Apple TV wired to router2. My issue is if I am connected wirelessly to router2 I may or may not be able to connect to iTunes library. Conversely, if I am connected wirelessly to router1 I may or may not be able to play content from iTunes to Apple TV. I cannot figure out why everything works fine sometimes yet at other times I cannot connect devices between the two routers.

Cisco WAN :: Linksys E1000 - Telnet To Private IP Through Soho Router?

Sep 22, 2011

My Setup / I've been lurking on here a while, working hard to understand the basic networking concepts and eventually pursue the CISCO certs. I bought a lab and have since managed to setup a four router config (2610XM-DTE, 2621-DTE, 2501-DCE, and a linksys E1000 with routing, DHCP, and NAT turned off to make it a wirelss access point) with three switches (2@2950 and a 2924XL).

So far, I have managed to bring in my public IP using DHCP, and setup PAT. The network is fully functional, I can ping every interface, and reach the web on host PCs from any switchport. I am also able to telnet into the FastEthernet interface IPd with my public address.

My Issue : My concern right now is in feature support. I recently read on here that CISCO does not support UPnP, and due to my limited resources, I am using the only public IP I have to allow remote testing/learning on my lab. The issue is that I also have a PS3 and XBox 360 on this network that is requiring UPnP for certain online games and features.

The only solution I can see to this problem is to return my public IP back to the E1000 router, which is running RIP Version 2 (white papers said version 1, but a debup ip rip showed that updates were being ignored due to illegal version), and then poing my other three routers to it for outside access.

The questions I have in this scenario:

1. Will NAT still function if I use the E1000 and set the interfaces connecting to it as ip nat inside? I'm assuming that PAT is already hardcoded onto the router to allow for multiple connections to public IP space.

2. If my IP is 68.X.X.X, I set the E1000 to an IP of 192.168.1.1 and the FastEthernet it connects to is on my 2621 with an IP of 192.168.1.2, would it be possible to telnet into 192.168.1.2? If I were to forward port 23 out of the E1000 to the 192.168.1.2 address. Will my login and password for line vty 0 4 understand the request if the original telnet was to my public IP?

3. If all of that is just non-sense, is there another work-around that allows me to acheive UPnP through my E1000, while retaining telnet ability to my lab so I can try things in different scenarios or while I'm away from home?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: SOHO RIPv2 Redistribution To OSPF On 2900?

Jul 27, 2012

I am having a problem reaching a soho linksys e1000 router through a second hop cisco 2900 router. Here is a brief topology of the network: I am using OSPF area 100 for all networks except for

192.168.2.0 on R1 to E1000 which is RIPv2
R1 directly connects to R2 with a point-to-point serial on network 192.168.12.0 /30 with ip 192.168.1.13
R1 directly connects to a a switchport using network 192.168.2.0 /24 with ip 192.168.1.75
R3 directly connects to a switchport using network 192.168.1.128.0 /25 with ip 192.168.1.129
R3 directly connects to a different cisco router using ethernet on network 192.168.1.0 with ip 192.168.1.1
E1000 directly connects to a switchport using network 192.168.2.0 /24 with ip 192.168.2.1

The switch has a vlan ip on 192.168.1.128 /25?I can ping from R1 to E1000?I can ping from R3 to R1 192.168.2.75? I can't ping from R3 to E1000 192.168.2.1?show ip route on R2 indicates that network 192.168.2.0 is reachable via the serial connection on 192.168.1.12?I have redistributed rip to ospf area 100 and OSPF to RIP on R1?I am wondering why R1 can reach E1000 on network 192.168.2.0, and why R3 can reach R1s 192.168.2.0 newtork, but R3 can't reach the E1000.There is an R2 router than can reach R1 and also cannot reach E1000, but I assume it's for the same reasons R3 can't, so I've omitted the remainder of that topology for this question.

Dell Xps L321x / Can't Connect To Wifi At Office

Jan 9, 2013

I have a Dell XPS L321X, ultrabook, which can connect to wifi except a specific office wifi, say TPR. The interesting thing is I can connect to this TPR wifi when nobody is in office, I thought it might be an IP conflict. So I tried to assign a static IP address, but it doesn't work. I have updated the wifi adapters two days ago.I tried few things like IPCONFIG /RELEASE, IPCONFIG /RENEW, but nothing works. The security type of all the wifi in my office are WPA-PSK and they all have good strength. We use sharepoint services for our daily office work, which can be accessed only using a TPR wifi. It's frustrating that I cannot connect to it.

WRT54G2 - Connect Two Sets Of Computers Within Home Office?

Jan 26, 2012

I have a group of five computers at one end of my home office and another group of four computers across the same room. All are hardwired on the same internal network. These cannot be consolidate or moved into one corner or closet. There just is not the space and it's just physically not possible. There is one Internet router as provided by the local cable company. I have this connected to a LinkSys WRT54G2 broadband router. A Netgear DS108 8-port hub is connected the LinkSys. All computers either connect to the Netgear hub or to the LinkSys router. As of now, the WiFi from the LinkSys router is only ever used by my cell phone while at home.

This set up is annoying. At first I did not mind, but there are cables on the floor that I have to step over. These CAT5 cables connect one set of computers to the LinkSys or Netgear. I have to watch where visitors are walking or stepping to assure they don't trip. How can I keep these computers on the same network and eliminate just those cables crossing the floor of my home office?Should I use WiFi NICs? Would this overwhelm the WiFi on the LinkSys?
