I have a secondary router (E1200) on my home network, connected LAN to LAN. I use it mainly for wired connections, and it does work for that. But when I try to access this router through the IP address, I get a page that says only "ACT_IDLE". Occasionally, I am able to access, but I've found no pattern to when the router is accessible and when it is not...mostly not. Bad router? Bad setup? Bad owner?
View 1 RepliesWe recently upgraded to Windows 7 at work and my laptop was part of the first deployment. Laptops are imaged so that all configurations/software are already set and done. My problem is as follows, my laptop is part of domain, when I am at work I can ping anything just fine (network computers, printers) BUT when I am at home, I can't even ping my own PC. It returns back with the same address over and over. No matter what I ping when I am at home, it returns back with the same address. I can ping blah and it will display same address over and over. The weird part is I can ping websites no problem, but if i ping random names it will format as follow.Lets say I want to ping lost, below is what i get (I made changes to hide domain and IP)

Notice how my domain always shows up? When I am connected to the VPN at home, I have to log onto our intranet using the IP, I can't use the name, it wont direct to it.
ASA5510, ASA 8.0(4), ASDM 6.1(5), this is a productino ASA with plenty of lookups working through its 3 interfaces - outside, inside, dmz. The problem is a new use. I've segmented a switch on the inside network with a VLAN, and have a workstation routing through the switch to the default VLAN where all other hosts on the inside network reside so far. The ASA inside interface is the default gateway for the inside network. My test worksttion can PING inside hosts, so the static route is OK.

But lookups fail, Wireshark says the test workstation sends, the dns server receives and responds, but the test workstation never receives. I used the Packet Tracer tool, it gets to the last step syayin OK then finally "inspect-dns-invalid-pak". I can't find any more there to tell just what is invlid about it. So I'm trying to figure out global inspection. Here's an extract from the config:

I'm trying to examine the ARP table on specific phy ports on a SG300 switch. The Cisco CLI guide shows this syntax:
show arp [ip-address ip-address] [mac-address mac-address] [interface-id]
Using the CLI and the "?" key to get assistance, I'm not successful:

I think I'm missing a basic step here. In setting up a RV220W device behind either a cable modem or a DSL modem, the address that is being returned is not the public IP address of the modem, but rather the private IP address assigned by the modem to the RV220W. Doesn't matter for normal web access but trying to set up a VPN tunnel fails due to the inaccurate IP address.
If I do the same thing but use the dyndns.com application on a computer behind all of this (connected on the private LAN of the RV220W via cable), it reports the external IP address correctly. That works in some locations if I have an always on computer to load the application to. In some cases, however, there isn't such a computer to leave dedicated to running the separate program.
Since this works, and the RV220W doesn't, there is some difference between the Cisco implementation and the dyndns.com implementation.
So, is there a way to get the RV220W to return the true external IP address, or is it stuck returning a private address?
I've just bought a pair of WAP121 for testing and validation. I've set it up properly (user/password, IP, management vlan, NTP, SNMP, 802.1x, etc). So far, so good, everything worked as expected. I've downloaded the configuration to my PC, and also saved it to startup-config. I've powered off the unit, went for a coffee, and powered it back. All my settings were lost.
Tried to restore settings from the file downloaded to my PC, but no luck. After reboot, it was factory clean, no trace from settings in the backup file. I've set it up again by hand, power cycled it, and the **** thing reloaded to default settings.
Faulty unit, I thought, so I opened the other one I have, and repeated the whole thing, but same results. Test were made using the power adapter supplied but also tried with a catalyst 2960 with PoE.
We have a number of 4507s. Most are managed via VLAN 1 address. All have multiple VLANS for traffic control. When I do a show ARP or show IP ARP the command only shows VLAN 1 info. No entries for any of the other VLANS on the switch.

The migration utility returns a config create fail message and fails to convert.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently moved from an old apartment in Downtown Montreal, to a suburb area, but still close to where I was before (10 km). I am using the same ISP provider, Videotron. The same speed. I was playing this game, Chivalry Medieval warfare, perfectly fine before, but now something is really wrong. Whenever I join a server, my ping skyrockets up to close to 200, sometimes drifting to 130 but never going below... and often rising back up again.Keep in mind that I filter servers by their pings. I only join servers that display a low ping (although often I won't see any, when I refresh.. there they are). I'll see a server with 30 ping, join it, and be at 200.It's entirely unplayable. Not only is it impossible to properly time parries anymore, but I also get a lot of rubberbanding. I've tested the internet here, and the speeds are accurate. 10 mbps down, 1 mbps up. I am connected to a Linksys E1200 router. I've tried everything I can possibly think of.I went into the router setup, disabled the firewall, added myself to a DMZ, tried to forward every port... rebooted the modem, my computer, the router, tried a different Ethernet cable.. nothing is working. It's very depressing. Nothing has changed on my own computer in the move. I also notice there is a delay of a second or so before I start to load a webpage when I click a link.

I am trying to hook up a 2nd router to our network to extend range and allow extra ethernet connections points. The new (2nd) Router is a Linksys E1200. I have been told by multiple sources it should be possible to hook the Linksy's router to the modem/router, but I am still not sure how to. All of the directions I have read involve disconnecting the old router (in my case, the Q1000) and then connecting the new router (E1200) in order to configure it. But I am not sure how to do this with out the internet access provided by the old router. how to cascade like this while using a modem/router

Anyways when i connect the ethernet cable from the modem directly to my pc it works fine.
When I try to use my router i get the yellow exclamation mark on the bars and it says no internet access. I thought it may just be my computer but my smart phone will not connect either.

I set a password for the web interface then it boots me out and I am promted for the password and username.I don't want to download and configure my router with some poorly written software for my mac; why can't I just do it all through the good old web interface???? View 1 Replies View RelatedI replaced my broken modem with a new Motorola 3360 as recommended by my ISP. The new modem works fine connected directly to my PC. When connecting the modem to the Cisco E1200 router, the same one I had with the older modem, the E1200 says I'm not connected to the PC. I've triple checked the wired connections from the modem to the router and then to the PC. I've swapped out cables and verified that they all work when used directly from the modem to the PC. I'm thinking some settings from the old Westell modem are messing with the connectivity of the new E1200 router.

Recently I got a brand new E1200 to replace Apple Extreme Base station for my home wireless network. The router deployed just fine except one weird problem. While all devices (desktops, laptops, cell phones, iPad) can access the router, one desktop (Dell Optiplex DX280) cannot see the router at all. The router network, even with default SSID, does not even show in the wireless network list, no matter how many times the list is refreshed. The wireless adapter (Dell TrueMobile 1300 USB2.0) is fine, since it picks up the router SSID when connected to another desktop. The stubborn desktop works just fine with previous Apple router and can see many networks around, like neighbors' networks. Thinking that some other previously installed software interferes with seeing the router SSID, I completely wiped and reformatted HD and reinstalled fresh copy of WinXP - still the same result, the desktop works just fine with the Apple router, but still cannot see E1200 SSID. The router was reset to factory defaults and all access restrictions were removed. While all the devices see the default SSID and can conncet to the router with no problems, the stubborn desktop keep completely ignoring it.
Again, every single component - desktop (Optiplex DX280), wireless USB adapter (TrueMobile 1800 USB2.0), routers (both Apple and Cisco) are functioning normally otherwise. It is the combination of Optiplex GX280 - TrueMobile 1300 - Cisco E1200 that does not work.
i'm having connection issues requiring frequent reboots of my router. it starts with internet slowdown to a crawl, then it times out and lastly the webinterface is not even responding when i try to access it to reboot. Requiring me to manually unplug. this happens once a day atleast.
Sometimes it recovers after a few minutes and get on the net.i've tried flashing, reflashing, re-reflashing , resetting , re-resetting, to no end. And all the usual tricks tech support ask to do.

My friend was able to access my internet connection via my guest account WITHOUT having to enter the guest password. He was able to connect using a samsung galaxy phone with the android OS. However, when I connected to my guest account using my blackberry, I WAS asked for the guest account password.
