Cisco :: LMS 4.0 Disabled DHCP Client
Jan 23, 2012
I have a fresh install of LMS 4.0 on Windows Server 2008 Standart SP2. I have one NIC with static IP configuration. I also disabled DHCP client. The problem is follows: when I go to Inventory - Device Administration - Add/Import/Manage Devices, I always get this error:Error in communicating with DCR Server. DCR Server may be down. Please start the DCR Server and then refresh the page.Reload server/ Daemon Manager dont solve this.I try to beat this problem 2 days already. Second uninstall also doesnt solve the problem..
About a week ago I tried to clear log files which was 270gb (syslog.log) and after that restarted the server. And all inventory devices suddenly disappear! I could find it from search menu but cant access - cisco works said that there is no such a device in Device Repository or I havent enough right to view it (but i logged as admin). And after this i failed to add any device in Inventory. So I reinstall Cisco Works and get that DCR error..

problem is my brother has been playing with its config page. he changed the IP Address of the modem and disabled DHCP. he forgot what IP Address he inputted on the config page. I tried resetting the router with the small button on its side. Nothing happens. all the lights blink when i pushed the reset button for 10 sec. but nothing happens. i still can't access its default IP which is 192.168.1.1 IS there anyway to determine its IP Address even if DHCP is disabled ?

I have a router (Linksys E3500) set up as an AP. To do that I just disabled DHCP on the router. I can connect devices to it fine, but I'm having a couple of issues.
So I have a DC setup. It's in the same subnet as the router and I can ping it fine, but when I browse to the AP for management it prompts with the username/password and won't accept the credentials. Not sure what's going on here as I've always used the same credentials and I logged into the router fine when I was first setting it up.
Another issue, is if I try to ping this router from a different subnet, it fails. I can ping the DC fine from this subnet. Would this be to do with the AP just acting as a pass-through?

Do the problem caused by the modems itself or it just sign of faulty Ethernet switch (using 20 port Allied Telesis ethernet switch).
Sometimes I cannot connect to internet due to "unidentified network" buy i can resolve this problem by restarting my modem + switch.

I call century link because my router was not connecting at the proper speed of 7 mbps. That problem was easily remedied over the phone but the lady said she could see several devices connected. This lost me a bit because I have a double router configuration. The Action tech PK5000 i turned into nothing more that an internet modem. I disabled the DHCP and configured my Linksys E1200 for all the internal DHCP so there is only one cable going to the PK5000. I should technically speaking look like one user on there network with natural protection from the second router.

Here is where I want to go:
Windows server 2008 (providing DHCP and DNS) 192.168.89.1 on all
Cisco SG 300-20 (switch) 192.168.89.3
all Clients(15 x DHCP assigned IPs) connected to switch
WRT300N(192.168.89.2) connected to switch
Internet modem connected to WRT300N
To achieve this I need to disable DHCP on the WRT300N, since my server is providing DHCP.The issue I have is that when I disable DHCP at the WRT300N, I lose internet connection (connected to either switch or direclty to WRT300N).

We recently upgraded our 5505s to 8.2(5) 26 and noticed that each will crash after a cerntain amount of time. Some crash every 30 minutes other will crash every 4 to 8 hrs. The only difference would be the user's home ISP and/or home router, if they have one. They are configured with a dynamic dhcp IP address for the outside interface and the crash files starts with the following:When we downgrade back to 8.2(5) 13 the problem goes away. Any known bugs for this version? I haven't been able to find anything yet. We do have one 5505 that does not have this issues. The only thing that may be different is that it was never at 8.2(5) 13. We had downgrade it from a 8.3 version.

I recently upgraded from a WRT54G and am having issues with a Win7 PC with wireless-N. Initially I had it configured static at 192.168.100.100 and everything worked, but the speeds were miserable (I followed all the forum posts and recommended settings). I noticed in the Status section of the router pages that the system showed up with the correct MAC address, but the IP showed as 192.168.100.10, which is the same as the router. Assuming this might be causing issues, I set a reservation for the system at .100 and set the client to use DHCP. However, now it won't pull an IP address at all. The status pages show the client with the correct MAC address, but an IP of 0.0.0.0. I've verified the MAC address a dozen times and rebooted the router and the client dozens of times with no change. Even when I removed the reservation, the system won't pick up an IP. I have a wireless-G client that's pulling an IP fine, so I know it's sort of working. The wired LAN is working fine, too. There are no IP conflicts, either. I changed DHCP to 'Always Broadcast (compatibility for some DHCP clients), but no change there, either. The client sees the network and still has a good signal, but just won't grab an IP.
I'm running Hardware Version: B1 / Firmware Version: 2.01NA

Currently we're providing DHCP to wireless clients from a dhcp pool on a cisco 6500. Due to new requirements we need to move to windows 2008 dhcp and when I test this on an unused WLC (7.0.235.0) the client doesn't get an address.
When I do a packet capture on the client I see it requesting dhcp but not getting any response from the server. When I do a dhcp debug on the client I see the same (see attached file).
This seems to me to be a server issue but the same server is supplying addresses to wired clients.

I am using a 1811W and CCP for configuration. I am trying to assign client names to devices on the LAN so that when a network scanner is used, the client name is displayed. I have attached part of the running config after a binding has been done. My assumption is that the scanner should now show 192.168.1.109 as name <Supermicro>, but the name is blank. Is this configured correctly for what I am trying to acheive?

I just started having this problem yesterday. I was experiencing weird downloading/internet browsing issues and couldn't figure out what the problem was. I started looking around my router settings and noticed that in my DHCP Client list, my computer isn't in it. The router is hooked up to the computer, so it's not wireless. My phone and my girlfriend's laptop are listed, but the main computer isn't. It's especially causing problems with port forwarding. Downloads will stop because the port isn't showing as open. I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 and a Belkin N+ Wireless Router, model F5D8235-4.Firmware is up to date.

I have a Cisco 876 router running 12.4.(15)T5, configured as DHCP client. This works nicely.
A Cisco 886 router, running 15.1 software also works with the DHCP client. This also works but has the following strange beheaviour: In the running-config an ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 <dhcp assigned address> appears. Also - some other static routes that are in the config using the dhcp keyword are duplicated with the dhcp-assigned address
Now - when a write mem is done, these dhcp-generated route entry's are stored in the startup-config...
This beheaviour is completely different and VERY unwanted. After a change from DHCP server the config will simply stop working, when a write mem was done at the first DHCP situation.
Should we stop using write mem commands when a DHCP client is active in IOS? Is it a bug? Is it a feature?

I need to configure public and private wireless access using an ASA 5505 and an Aironet AIR-AP1041N-A-K9. I need to be able to do this via ASDM and http if at all possible. I simply do not have the time to learn hundreds of lines of arcane CLI code. The Aironet connects to the ASA successfully, and receives an IP. I can then connect to the AP wirelessly, but do not receive an IP. I have setup a second SSIDVLAN on the AP, and can't connect to it at all.

I've got a WRVS4400N wireless router running DHCP for a couple dozen wireless clients in a public library. We need to gather statistics on the wireless clients on a daily basis: average number of clients, max number of clients, average time used per client etc.
The router only gives a list of clients currently allocated an IP address, but there doesn't seem to be a way to gather statistics over time. Is there a program that will interface with the router to gather more detailed statistics?

The 5508 is running code 7.0.116.0. I have created a group interface for 3 subnets and assigned the group to the WLAN. Clients are getting IP addresses in a round robin fashion. The issue or downside to this is if the lease has not expired before the next time the station connects to the WLAN it consumes an address on another subnet instead of grabbing the unexpired lease IP address on it's previous VLAN. It seems that the WLC determines the VLAN in the interface group before the DHCP request from the client in case the client already received a DHCP address that has not expired. This can be problematic since we have seen some iPhones requesting an address every 20 minutes thus consuming an address on every subnet in the interface group. Other than setting a lease time extremely low what can be done to address this?

User is connecting to 5508, running 7.0.116.0. Previously worked on another AP. TV (client) is set to use dhcp. As other posts have mentioned, "DHCP Addr. Assignment" checkbox is not checked for this wlan, but I also switched it to Required for this wlan but it did not make any difference. Seems to be a problem with just this client as many other clients are on this AP with no problems.
Users have to register their MAC to get on our wireless system, but there is no encyption or security enabled once the device has been registered.

1 Cisco switch stack (SGE2010) in L3 mode, 2 Vlans.
Vlan 1 = 192.168.0.253/24, untagged on all ports except 14/15
Vlan 2 = 192.168.22.1/24, untagged on port 14 and 15
SGE2010 default route 0.0.0.0/0 next hop 192.168.0.1 (Checkpoint UTM)
DHCP Relay enabled
DHCP server set to 192.168.0.16
DHCP interface set to Vlan2
[code]....
Expanding the ICMP entry, it appears that the destination is the pc client since it shows a Dell mac address, and the source is the Checkpoint UTM (Sofaware).
I can ping and tracert from the Checkpoint to my static IP on Vlan 2. The same goes for the DHCP server to/from Vlan2, so I am confused as to why the routing is failing. I have tried adding Port Fast to the stack ports, but nothing changes.
